I am a philologist, a prose writer, having published two books of short stories in Russian, a literature critic (earlier in Novy Mir journal); graduated from MSU and Instituto Cervantes, a former professor of the medieval and Renaissance literature, a free researcher now in the fields of the history of the novel/romance, of the history of the OFrench literature and of comparative mythology. Also interested in investigations of intertextually in medieval and modernist poetical texts

The Escavalon episode of Le Conte du Graal is compared to the central situation of La Prise d'Ora... more The Escavalon episode of Le Conte du Graal is compared to the central situation of La Prise d'Orange that on the one hand permits to consider some epic themes in Gauvain's part of Le Conte, on the other hand renders plausible a juxtaposition of Gauvain's loss of his steed Gringalet, his humiliation, his anonymity in Château des Reines and corresponding events in the 13th century romances L'Atre Périlleux, Li Chevaliers as Deus Espees and Fergus. The attempt is made to put the loss of Gringalet into a context of such mythological themes as three sins of the warrior, or the impious warrior's death and to connect it with premonitions and indications of a temporary symbolic, or social death of the hero.

Chrétien de Troyes is supposed here to have developed two parts of his last romance on the basis ... more Chrétien de Troyes is supposed here to have developed two parts of his last romance on the basis of the same traditional tale. The main attention is given to the means by which the poet modified Perceval's story in Gauvain's part of the text, once general thematic correspondence of two parts is tentatively established. It is demonstrated that the modification is accomplished by inversion and by making recourse to antecedent verse narratives
