Согласно когнитивной теории, мыслительные способности человека обусловлены биологической природой его мозга, тела и телесным опытом. Однако анализ языкового материала указывает на необходимость учета культурных факторов образования телесных метафор. The article focuses on the identification of ethnocultural peculiarities of body metaphor functioning in differentstructure languages-English and Russian. According to cognitive theory, human reason arises from the nature of our brains, bodies, and bodily experience. Language material, however, suggests the necessity of taking into account cultural factors of body metaphor formation. Ключевые слова: телесность, телесная метафора, лингвокультура, соматизм, этнокультурная специфика.

Taken as a unit of the code of culture under analysis is the somatic concept. The aim of the research is to identify the ethno-cultural peculiarities
of somatic concepts as units of somatic code of the Russian and English languages. The comparative analysis made it possible to identify a certain asymmetry in the representation of the human
body in the English and Russian language pictures of the world. The asymmetry of the use is explicated in the presence of gaps, i.e. in the absence of lexemes in idioms of one language and their
presence in those of another language. A quantitative asymmetry manifests itself in a different
frequency of somatisms in Russian and English proverbs and phraseological units, which indicates the degree of relevance of one or another concept for different ethnic communities.
Keywords: somatic code of culture, somatism, linguoculture, cultural meaning, concept,
ethno-cultural peculiarity.

The objective of the article is to analyze the peculiarities of conceptualization of the female body in the Russian and English linguistic cultures through the explication of conceptual metaphors in which the given fragment of reality is represented. The object of research is the semantics and use of nouns грудь-breast, волосы-hair, рот-mouth, шея-neck, пупок-navel. In order to analyze somatic concepts the author uses the method of conceptual analysis comprising: the analysis of the internal word form of the concept representative, the study of conceptual metaphors and metonymy (figurative features of concept), the description of ways of categorizing a concept through the search of functional and evaluation features, the analysis of the lexical meaning, the identifi...

The body herein is regarded as a model for processes of cognition and linguistic structuring of the world. The purpose of the paper is to determine correlation between universal knowledge of the body and culturally significant associations caused by conceptual mappings from mental domain “body” to mental domains of the outside world. The study has been conducted according to the conceptual research procedure elaborated in Kemerovo scientific school under the supervision of Prof. M. V. Pimenova.
