Based on daily data from January 1, 2016 to April 1, 2021, a vector auto-regression model and an impulse response function are employed to illustrate the time path of these assets following own and cross-shocks. Our study exhibits the considerable effect of the pandemic on increasing directional causalities and time-varying connectedness between G7 indices, Bitcoin, and oil. The findings indicate that G7 indices’ own shocks almost immediately lower forecasts of stock return urging the diversification to reduce risk. Moreover, the significant negative response of oil to shocks amid the pandemic reflects its high vulnerability during mitigated periods. Unlike other countries, we find a relative resilience of Bitcoin to S&P 500 shocks, and we consequently recommend Bitcoin as a diversifier to Americaninvestors during the pandemic. Our results are useful for both investors and policy...

Objective: To detect the rate of Serratia marcescens infection in neonatal sepsis in ICU by molecular technique. Methods: A total of 50 neonates with the age group 8 days to 30 days who were admitted to AL-Kadhumiya Teaching Hospital/ Baghdad during the period January to March ,2017 were recruited for this cross-sectional study. Approximately 3 ml of venous blood were obtained from each patients. These samples were examined for septicemia by blood culturing followed by API20 for quick identification of relevant bacteria. Furthermore, bacteria DNA was isolated directly from blood samples, and conventional PCR based on luxS gene, highly specific to S. marcescens, was ...

This leads to no well intervention in the future if there is any gas or water breakthrough or in some cases the formation collapse. However, formation collapse was recently observed in the certain dense (impermeable) layers which are liable to hole collapse when in contact with HCl acid during stimulation operation hence resulting in hole plugging. This leads to losing the production / injection from the upper zone and requires rig workover to clean out and recomplete the well. This phenonmenon was further confirmed by several experiments performed on different core samples in the Lab. A quick and cost effective solution was looked into and found that 4-1/2" liner, called "drop-off", can be run and set in the upper drain of the well to avoid any future breakthroughs or hole collapse. 4-1/2" drop-off liner was successfu...

The overall idea was to synchronize the maturity of beet crop (5 to 6 months of age) with the beginning of cane crushing season (factory start-up at November) where sugarcane quality was usually low. However ambient temperature at these months was relatively high (max temp.: 40-45 and min temp.: 20-25°c). In the first season sugar beet cultivar (Posada) was sown in three sowing dates: May 21, June 6 and 21 and in the second season it was sown in May 15, 30, June 15, 30 and July 15. Harvest was programmed at three crop ages: 5, 5.5 an 6 months. In the first season some deaths of seedlings occurred and in the second season there was complete failure of germination for May 15 and 30 sowing dates. Otherwise, no significant differences between treatments were shown; however, tuber yield was relatively low in the two seasons recording 23 to 40 ton/ha compared to the sown sugar beet in winter months (October-December) that usually yielded 60 to 80 ton/ha tuber. Beet plants were still green and growing at harvest where high leaf weight (fodder) was recorded. Sugar beet quality was relatively high. Brix, pol and estimated recoverable sugar (ERS) % recorded 17.95, 15.74 and 13.24 in average respectively. The study emphasizes the need for more research in the subject including selection of proper sugar beet cultivars. Crop management operations such as pre watering before sowing and water stoppage (dry-off) at harvest should be thoroughly investigated.

Twelve exotic sugarcane genotypes from Barbados, Guyana, Argentina and South India were tested in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. The objective was to quantify the genetic diversity among these genotypes regarding eleven cane yield and quality characters namely: stalk height, stalk diameter, internodal number per stalk; juice brix, juice pol, sugar recovery, juice purity, cane fiber and cane maturity percent, and yield of cane and sugar in Ton/hac. The results indicated that, the genotypes were grouped into six clusters based on the genetic distance using Mahalanobis's statistics. Higher inter-cluster distance was noticed between cluster IV and V (83.546) indicating high genetic diversity among two clusters. Thus, exploitation of genotypes within these two clusters as parents for crossing could produce good sugarcane segregants. The intracluster distance within cluster VI (7.226) and II (6.666) was very low indicating a close relationship of genotypes within each of these clusters. High cluster mean value for juice quality was recorded by cluster I whereas for cane and sugar yields, cluster VI was the best. It is suggested that genotypes within these two clusters could show greater potentiality for breeding purpose by virtue of their desirable characters.

The cellulose powder was extracted from olive industry solid waste by kraft pulping process and multistep bleaching p sequences. An elemental chlorine-free chemical bleaching sequence chlorine dioxide (D)-cold caustic extraction (E)-hypochlorite (H)hydrogen peroxide (P) was used. Cellulose powder was obtained in about 35 % yield. The extracted cellulose and cellulose acetate made from thereof were extensively characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, electron microscopy sciences, gel-permeation chromatography/high-performance liquid chromatography, and viscometry. Our key finding in this study was that olive industry solid waste is a valuable source of cellulose powder and its derivatives. This is important, since our results show how lignocellulosic agricultural wastes could be utilized and converted into cellulose products with high value.

Eight sugarcane genotypes were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with four replications to study association of characters influenced the final behavior of eight sugarcane clones regarding cane yield characters namely; yield of cane (ton/ha), number of millable cane, stalk height, stalk diameter, single stalk weight and juice quality traits in terms of juice brix (%) juice pol %, juice purity % and cane fiber (%). The results indicated that genotypes R 579, SP 718210 and Co 6806 had shown superiority for yield of cane per ha where as genotype Co 527 followed by Co 997 were the best for juice pol percent. Characters association results showed a positive correlation between cane yield in one hand and number of millable stalks, stalk height, internodal number per stalk, single stalks weight on the other hand indicated improvement of one of these character may resulted in positive respone of the other character. Negative association of cane yield with stalk diameter, juice pol and purity % was noticed in this study.

The model, comprising the description of the field of main mean velocity components and of Stokes stream function in the system, is identified by experimental determination of velocity field by means of Pilot direction tubes and hot-film anemometer. The resulting analytical description of the flow pattern in the vessel corresponds well to that found experimentally. Knowing three parameters derived from the velocity profile of the stream streaking from the impeller, the description depends only on the system geometry.

The flow description is determined by three basic characteristics of the proposed model: i.e. the diameter of a cylindrical tangential jet a, the width parameter of a cylindrical tangential jet σ and the parameter of the intensity of momentum flux in the flow leaving the turbine A. All these parameters were calculated from the measured profiles of mean velocity for different types of turbines (standard, closed and with profiled blades) in systems of various dimensions. From the results follows that for geometrically similar agitated systems the model parameters have the same values; they vary with the type of turbine used and are independent on the relative size and position of the impeller in the system.

Human acts as an intermediate host, and there is no implementable non-invasive technique for definitive diagnosis of this disease. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic value of serum concentration of three cytokines: interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukn-10 (IL-10) and interleukin-12 (IL-12) for detection of CE. A total of 42 patients with hepatic CE and other 30 age-and sex-matched apparently healthy subjects were recruited for this case/control study. Sera were obtained for each subjects, and anti-echinococcal IgG antibodies and serum concentration of IL-4, IL-10 and IL-12 were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to evaluate the diagnostic value of these cytokines. All cases as well as two control subjects were positive for anti-echinococcal IgG antibodies. Serum concentration of IL-4 and IL-10 were higher in cases than controls with significant differences, while there was no such difference in IL-12 concentration. Discrete ROC analysis revealed a moderate diagnostic value for each of IL-4 and IL-10. However, the combined ROC analysis for these two cytokines resulted in a very good discriminative value in which the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.803, 95%CI=0.702-0.905, P<0.001. The sensitivity and specificity of the test at 7.45 pg/mL and 764.5 pg/ml cutoff values (for IL-4 and IL-10 respectively) were 0.70 and 0.71 respectively, Serum concentrations of IL-4 and IL-10 but not IL-12 could be utilized as an additional diagnostic tool for definitive diagnosis of suspected CE. More studies on other Th2-related cytokines or chemokines in CE patients are required to further develop this diagnostic assay.
