This study however considers the weather related parameters and their impacts on flight disruption in the country. Weather data (on thunderstorm, wind speed and direction, visibility and cloud cover) and flight data (delay, cancellation and diversion) were collected from Murtala International Airport, Ikeja-Lagos, Nigeria. The data covered the period between 2005 and 2020. However, Regional Climate Models (RCMs) were also used to run climate data projections between year 2020 and 2035 in the study region. The study employed Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software for the descriptive and inferential analysis. Time series analysis, Pearson Moment Correlation for interrelationship among the weather parameters and the flight disruption data, and multiple linear regression analysis were applied to determine the influence of weather parameters on flight disruption data. Results show that cloud cover and high visibility are negatively correlated. Wind speed has positive relationship with wind direction; and an inverse relationship between visibility, thunderstorm, and fog. Direct relationship exists between highest visibility and thick dust, wind speed and cloud cover. Thick dust, wind speed and cloud cover indicate increased visibility level in the study area. Flight delay is prominent over flight diversion and cancellation, which indicates their relevance in air traffic of the study area. The prediction model indicates high degree of cloud cover at the beginning of every year and later declines sharply in 2035, the visibility flattens out by the year 2025, and low pattern of thick dust was calculated in the same pattern in 2011, 2016 and 2027. Based on this conclusion, the study recommends accurate weather reporting and strict compliance to safety regulations, and attention should be paid to changing pattern of weather parameters in order to minimize fight related disasters.

The land-use map was classified as industrial, commercial, agricultural, residential land-uses, and open space. The selection of land use period covers 10years to identify land use changes over the years. Global Positioning System (GPS) was used for taking the spatial reference points of the study area. Land-Use Information System (LUIS) were created through the generated coordinate data. The results attributes past land-use with higher proportion of 65.2% for agricultural, 3.8 percent for industrial, 1 percent for commercial, while residential and open space have 15 percent respectively. Contrarily, the present land-use situation depicts 3.51% for agricultural activities and 48.79%, 45.6% and 2.1% land areas were occupied by industrial, residential and open space respectively. Generally, the Geo-database created reflects agricultural land-use as rapidly disturbed in expense of industrial, commercial, and residential activities in the study area. It is therefore recommended that; the geo-database created should be regularly up-dated to know what is obtainable in a particular space through a link between geometric and attribute data. This will enable the decision-making bodies to have access to information on each feature under consideration and at the same time improve upon them.

This study focused on assessment of farm management practices in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria. Twelve farm settlements, where bulk of yam production is produced, were selected by purposive sampling method. However, simple random sampling was used to select ten yam farmers in each of the sampled settlements. In all, 120 farmers were sampled and administered with copies of structured questionnaire. Simple percentages and Likert Scale were adopted to examine farmers' notions on farm management methods. Results reveal that; (i) majority of farmers fall within the age group of active labour, highest composition of male farmers indicates categories of gender with enabling strength for yam farming, low educational status could point to prevalence of crude mode of production (ii) out of the 9 farming methods adopted by farmers; mixed cropping, regular weeding and burning of farm waste to add potash to soil ranked 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively (iii) inadequate access to capital (2.78), Low/late Rainfall (2.45), and soil degradation (2.53) are the limiting factors on yam production. It was concluded that farm management methods in the study are considered important to yam cropping at varying degrees. It was, however, recommended that the limiting factors should be improved upon by the farmers for sustainable farming practice and in achieving food security .

This research aimed to examine the trend of rainfall in Akure using 50 years rainfall data. Data was collected from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, Oshodi, Lagos state, Nigeria. Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (time series and correlation analysis) were used to analyse the data. The results from time series analysis showed that rainfall fluctuated in an upward trend through the period of study. The predicted rainfall for 2016 2045 indicated a positive trend of (+0.274), meaning that rainfall will increase in intensity, number of raining-days and duration. The study equally revealed a significant increase in rainfall trend for Akure between 1966 and 2015. The study therefore, recommended that flood forecasting and early warning should be adhered to by all stakeholders. Flood prevent...

Forty 100m x100m quadrats were demarcated from the 80hectares of irrigated rice field in Patigi, 80 composite soil samples were randomly collected at 0-15cm and 15-30cm representing top and sub soils respectively. The samples were treated and subjected to standard laboratory analysis using standard procedures. Sixteen physico-chemical soil elements that are essential in rice nutrition were analyzed. Coefficient of Variation (C.V), and Factor analysis (FA) were used in this study. Factors with eigenvalues >1 were retained, and the factors subjected to varimax rotation that reduced the 17 measured soil properties into Five Factors. This structure model identified level of soil functionality. The result shows that Available Potassium and Water Holding Capacity fall within the medium group. This implies that they must be available in balance proportions to support sustainable rice cultivation. Contents of sodium, Nitrogen and Bulk density fall within the low group. This implies that they limit rice growth in this area. The study recommends a management strategy and a framework for best nutrient management practices that enable rice farmers to tailor the management of soil nutrient to the specific conditions of their farmland. It also recommends that soil parameters in the medium and low groups should be adequately managed for sustainability of rice production in the study area and similar environment through properly management of irrigation system, such that it allows regular water supply to the farmland, adequate and timely application of fertilizer.

The study further identified; method of waste disposal within the study area, influence of waste disposal method on open space and streams, reaction of water to waste disposal method, environmental problems associated with waste deposited on river channel. Primary data for the study were generated through questionnaire administration and water sample analysis. Sixty questionnaires were systematically distributed in each of the selected sampled locations that included Ise, Akunu, Ikakumo, Ugbe and Ikare settlements based on interval of fourth house from another house. Twenty-two water samples were randomly collected from the selected sampled settlement in order to identify their physical properties using in-situ method. Simple percentages were employed for data analysis while tables and figures presented findings of study. It was observed that wastes are being flushed into streams and thereby affects the odor, taste and coloration of water quality. Flooding activities identified in this area is majorly caused by indiscriminate waste disposal that blocks water drainages. The study therefore recommends provision of waste management strategy that will ensure neatness of environment and avoid pollution of water with effective refuse collection and disposal system within the study area and the related environments.
