There are 3 major areas of comment: 1) contextual literature, 2) methodology, 3) substance. Because the subject of this paper relies on both social forestry and common property literature, it is necessary to put the paper in the proper context within the literature. This paper ignored the literature on common property and thus the issues of common property and open access have been confused. The paper cities a communal council several centuries ago; however, there is no evidence presented as part of the study to support this claim. The only source that is known would be villager recall, which is not acceptable. Within the techniques of ethnohistorical research, the necessary evidence should be presented to substantiate the claim about the council. The authors asserts that a modern Islahi Committee should be bas...

Since these conditions commonly coexist, they are known collectively as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). COPD is one of the nation’s fastest growing health care problems. The American Lung Association reports 450,000 new cases each year, raising the current total to over 15 million sufferers. COPD is the third most frequent diagnostic category awarded disability payments by the Social Security Administration, and is exceeded only by heart disease in economic cost to society (American Lung Association, 1981). Like other chronic illnesses, the general course of COPD is one of steady deterioration, marked by exacerbations or flare-ups of pronounced symptoms. This progressive disease has such a gradual onset that victims have usually entered the final decade of a 30 to 40 year course before the symptoms become severe enough to seek medica...

In non-ionic polymers palladium nanoparticles are stabilized mainly by the interaction with the nitrogen atoms of the imidazole ring, which act as electron donors. In contrast, in absence of available nitrogen species inside PILs, palladium nanoparticles are mainly stabilized by the iodide anions, which determine important electronic effects at the palladium surface. PILs/Pd samples were tested in the selective reduction of p-chloronitrobenzene to p-chloroaniline, under remarkably mild conditions (room temperature, absence of solvents, gaseous H 2 below 1 atm). The reaction was followed by FT-IR spectroscopy in operando. All the PILs/Pd samples display an excellent chemoselectivity, whereas nonionic polymers/Pd samples are not selective. Since the morphology and size of the palladium nanoparticles is the same in all the catalysts, it is concluded that the driving force for chemoselectivity is the ionicity of the environment provided by the PIL scaffolds.

Research paper thumbnail of Mass Transfer from Single Spherical Bubble with the Presence of Chemical Reaction: the Effect of Interface Contamination at Low Reynolds Number

The objective of this work is to compute mass transfer with chemical reaction (first order) from ... more The objective of this work is to compute mass transfer with chemical reaction (first order) from a single spherical bubble at low Reynolds number by Direct Numerical Simulation. Firstly, the contamination of bubble surface by the surfactants is considered, since they can reduce the slip velocity at the interface. The stagnant cap model is used to represent these phenomena and to simulate the influence on hydrodynamics and on mass transfer. Corresponding transports equations are solved with COMSOL and characterized by the Reynolds numbers and the Schmidt numbers. Secondly, the reaction rate is considered for three chemical reaction types (slow, intermediate and rapid) which can be characterized by the Damköhler number. The rate of the mass transfer from the bubble to the liquid can be characterized by the Sherwood number and enhancement factor. The numerical simulation results show that the Sherwood number increases with the Peclet number, the contamination angle and the Damköhler nu...
