Although some difficulties arise in the double-deamination step, the method has allowed the synthesis of 4-benzyl- and 4-phenethyl-pyrazoles. New 3-halogenopyrazoles have also been prepared. The synthesis of 3,5-diamino-4-iodopyrazole is reported. This elusive compound has a C-13 NMR spectrum in which an aromatic carbon (C-4) appears at delta 29.53

Application of optimal design methodology to the phase transfer catalytic benzylation of malononitrile. Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems, 9: 287–292.Experimental design methodology using NEMROD software programs has been applied to achieve selective monobenzylation of malononitrile under PTC conditions. Different mathematical models have been used to study the variation in selectivity and yield of the reaction with different qualitative and quantitative experimental variables.

This study was performed at the PCM(CH 2 Cl 2)-B3LYP/6-311+G(2d,p)// B3LYP/SDD theory level. The aim of this work was to shed light on the influence that microwave irradiation has on these reactions and to gain insight into the so-called 'molecular radiator' effect. The outcomes obtained indicate that thermal effects induced by microwave irradiation decrease the catalytic induction period. The presence of a polar reagent and/or polar species in the reaction that increases the polarity of the medium may enhance this thermal effect.
