The research is related to machine learning and deep learning (ML/DL) methods for clustering and ... more The research is related to machine learning and deep learning (ML/DL) methods for clustering and classification that are compatible with anomaly detection (network attacks detection) in digital forensics. Research is conducted in the field of selecting subsets of features of a dataset useful for constructing a good predictor (classifier). In this study, a new feature selection method for a classifier based on the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method is presented and tested. The proposed step-by-step algorithm for the iterative selection of these features makes it possible to obtain the minimum required list of features that are associated with attack events and can be used to detect them. For the classification, Artificial Neural Network (ANN) method is used. The accuracy of attack detection by the proposed method has been verified in numerical experiments.

If WPT technology is used and vehicles are in motion wireless data transfer network must present and restrictions for data packets delivery exist. We analyze requirements of compensation process for WPT-V2G network. For standard wireless technologies 802.11 the estimations of delays of packets are made. Analytical and simulation model for packets delay estimations is proposed. The specifications for physical layer IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n are under consideration. The data from the models are compared with field experiments.

A simulation model of data transfer network when wireless technology is used was developed on the... more A simulation model of data transfer network when wireless technology is used was developed on the basis of simulation environment GPSS. A number of parameters are defined in the model for simulation network architecture, characteristics of traffic, wireless technology, characteristics of the radio channel. Examples of wireless technology 802.11 were used to get in simulation parameters as throughput, bandwidth, delays of packets, and distribution function for such delays, jitter and number of packets sent with errors. Comparing results of analytical and simulation models within a certain range of settings showed a good agreement (2%). The program text of the simulation model is available online.

The issue of appropriated range of electricity market price forecasting in the problem of enterpr... more The issue of appropriated range of electricity market price forecasting in the problem of enterprise’s electricity consumption expenses optimisation is considered. Various kinds of battery energy storage systems (BESS) for small enterprises, as well as control algorithms for energy consumption expenditures, cost reduction, are considered. The estimation of accuracy of hourly electricity price time series forecasting with the artificial neural networks (ANN) algorithm is made with step-by-step increasing depth of the forecast. It is shown that for the optimal control of electricity consumption forecast makes sense no more than for about of few hours (or tens hours) ahead only depending on the forecast errors.

At present time SEVSAT is in use on board of ships for the providing of broadband communication c... more At present time SEVSAT is in use on board of ships for the providing of broadband communication channel between the ship and the coast via satellites in geostationary orbits. In the measurements the parameters of satellite channel, depending on various external affecting factors, were obtained. The experiments were made on real equipment with various combinations of ship position, sea state, weather conditions. Based on the results of the experiments the statistical analysis of the influence of various factors was performed.

The article describes the possible ways to reduce the cost of electricity consumed by the enterpr... more The article describes the possible ways to reduce the cost of electricity consumed by the enterprise by redistributing consumption depending on changes in tariffs over time. Organizational changes include changes to work schedules, and the technical approach is based on the use of an energy storage system (ESS). The feasibility study of both methods is carried out using the example of price regulation in Latvia. Analysis of net present value (NPV) demonstrates the inefficiency of using ESS with the existing tariff setting scheme in Latvia, tariff variations and with world ESS prices at present.
The purpose of present research is an analysis of currently promoted energy storage systems based... more The purpose of present research is an analysis of currently promoted energy storage systems based on high-capacity electric batteries from the standpoint of algorithms for intelligent control of their charge and discharge processes. It is discussed the reduction the cost of electricity consumed by the enterprise by the redistributing of energy depending on the variation in tariffs over time. It is based on the use of the Energy Storage System (ESS) and optimal battery charge/discharge schedule. An estimation of savings in consumed energy costs is carried out depending on the power, capacity of ESS, as well as of the period of planned schedule calculating. On base of numerical simulation of battery’s charge/discharge control by linear programming optimisation method the efficiency of ESS usage was estimated in the range 10–15% for different periods from 1 up to 5 days of scheduling (planning horizon) respectively.

The experiences which have led to this paper are mainly the use of video conferencing system Tand... more The experiences which have led to this paper are mainly the use of video conferencing system Tandberg Edge 95 at Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TTI) with is placed in Latvia in two cities - Riga and Daugavpils. The aim of this paper is to share authors experience how to put video conferencing into a learning framework. This requires discussing the problem from a number of perspectives: the learning framework; the technology; the role of technology within that framework; how to make best use of the technology. The paper also discusses TTI experience of learning management system Moodle usage in a combination with Tandberg conferencing system. New communication technologies are blurring the distinction between traditional and distant teaching. It has potential uses in both situations. The main pedagogical issue is to understand where the new technology will have real impact on learning effectiveness. The paper authors share their view to the issue resolution.
