Internalised knowledge must be re-used creatively in a new context. 'Knowing' becomes 'knowing how' and then 'knowing how to be'. Learning is lifelong and is understood as the right/duty of the citizen, who in the globalised world, needs to acquire increasingly specialised skills to face the continuous challenges that modern society offers. In this perspective, technology should not be exclusively understood in its most technical dimension; it is a precious opportunity for training and learning-teaching. The research goal is to investigate the relational competence, the school adjustment and emotional skills in a group of junior high school students of the Sicilian hinterland. The research involved 213 students, among which 82 boys (38.1%) and 131 girls (61.9%), aged between 11 and 14 (M=12.98; S.D.=1.05), of which 6.7% have repeated the school year once. Participants completed following instruments: the Test of Interpersonal Relationships (TRI) developed by Bracken (1993) in order to value the perception of adolescents concerning the quality of their relationships in social, familial and school contexts; the Multidimensional Test of Self-Esteem (TMA) created by Bracken (2003), structured in six scales, which coincide with the dimensions considered constitutive of self-esteem, namely: Interpersonal Relationships, Emotional Competence, Control over the Environment, School Success, Family Life and Body Image Perception. Data show that a good emotional competence of adolescents has a positive influence on learning and scholastic success, but above all on their relational ability towards peer-group.

As university is the privileged place where knowledge and competences are produced, it has to be oriented to the enhancement of knowledge and intended as a workshop for a new management. In a multi and interdisciplinary perspective the collaboration with the whole system is essential. Moreover, an education open to change and ready to listen and understand, the promotion of creativity and the promotion of a personalized education which takes care of the person in his richness, complexity and potential are the main issues to be taken into account.

The present research aims to explore the relationship between ADD symptoms, Emotional Intelligence and Self-Image and how different levels of ADD affect emotional intelligence and self-perception. Method: We administered to a total of 370 young adolescents (girls = 203, boys = 167) with an age range of 12 years to 16 years (mean = 13; standard deviation = .59), the following self-reports: SIE-Self-Image Evaluation; EQ-i: YV-Emotional Quotient Inventory: Youth Version; Brown ADD Scales-Brown Attention-Deficit Disorder Scales. Results: deficits in emotional intelligence were associated with a negative evaluation of self-image in adolescents who scored higher on the Brown ADD Scales.
