Reordering of the church enabled archaeological recording during works for a new floor and struc... more Reordering of the church enabled archaeological recording during works for a new floor and structural supports, a service trench, drainage and new septic tank. Several inscribed slabs were recorded, along with two brick arched burial vaults inside the church and unmarked graves outside it.
A watching brief on a new extension required ground reduction on its footprint. The stripped area... more A watching brief on a new extension required ground reduction on its footprint. The stripped area uncovered the footing base of a cross wing gable of a significantly altered long hall. The existing structure is now largely 18th Century and replaced by brick, though timbers still form part from its northern wall. The features uncovered in the ground were undated, however included a well. Co-author Anne Huvig.

Previously unrecorded burial had been identified within the crossing, and grave markers of likely 12th century date were discovered buried shallowly in the north aisle.

Human remains were present at its base and brick samples from the vault wall were suggestive of its pre -1840's construction.
