Methodology: This was an observational study carried out in the Department of Radiology CMH Malir, Karachi and Ziauddin hospital, Karachi from July 2016 till July 2018 using non-probability sampling technique. A total of 510 pregnant women with second and third trimester were enrolled for the study. The biometric parameters of fetus i.e., Bi-Parietal Diameter, Head Circumference, and Femur Length were established through twodimensional ultrasound. Chi-square and t tests were used to analyze differences in biometric parameters in both genders. Results: The study results showed significant differences in the Bi-Parietal Diameter and Head Circumference between male and female fetuses (p=0.006 and p=0.003, respectively). Mean Bi-Parietal Diameter in males was 71.47±13.70 and in females it was68.30±11.90cm, mean Head Circumference in males was 264.23±47.87and in females it was 252.03±44.91cm. It has also been observed that there was an insignificant difference in the femur length between male and female fetuses (p= 0.605). Mean femur length was 52.74±12.39 in males and 52.19±11.38 in females. Conclusion: This study concluded that male fetuses have considerably larger bi-parietal diameter and head circumference as compared to female fetuses however, no variation in femur length is observed in both genders.

Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Place and Duration of Study: Department of Radiology, Combined Military Hospital, Quetta, from Jan 2020 to Aug 2021. Methodology: A total of (n=196) patients, of age 18-60 years, of both genders, who sustained thoraco-abdominal injuries and were referred for contrast-enhanced Computed tomography of the chest and abdomen were enrolled in the study. Patients were subjected to the thorax and abdomen ultrasonographic examination first and then underwent a contrast-enhanced CT scan of the thorax and abdomen. The findings of both modalities were recorded and subjected to statistical analysis to confirm the accuracy of ultrasound, considering CT-scan as a gold standard procedure. Results: The mean age of the patients was 35 10.6. The...

The use of the Garston Technique® (GT) is a new intervention for the management of chronic plantar fascitis, but there is lack of evidence in the literature regarding its efficacy. Study Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of the GT on pain, foot function and general foot health in patients with plantar fasciitis. Methods This was a randomized clinical trial conducted from November 2020 to March 2021. The non-probability purposive sampling technique was used to select 30 patients. Setting Madinah Teaching Hospital, Faisalabad, Pakistan. Participants A total of 30 patients of both genders with a 6-week history of planter fasciitis and the presence of a calcaneus everted ≥2° were included in this study and randomly assigned to one of two groups. Intervention Both groups received conventional physical therapy (CPT) for 4 weeks and the experimental group in addition received GT. Pr...

In recent times, salivary diagnostic tests are becoming popular as saliva is an easily accessible source for detecting several chemokines and cytokines related to various oral pathologies. Moreover, this may also help in detecting periodontitis before the appearance of clinical effects, after which treatment becomes difficult. Many cytokines and chemokines related to periodontal tissue destructionare found in saliva. Though majorly produced in gingival crevicular fluid(GCF), these chemicals eventually leech out to become part of the saliva. Interluekin-1 beta (IL-1β), generated through immune response is considered to be one of the most important cytokine that has detrimental effects on the periodontal tissues. This paper aims to convey an extens...

Sun protection was recommended, and no further therapeutic intervention was pursued. During a 2-year follow-up, the lesions have remained stable. The diagnosis of piebaldism can be made clinically in many cases. It is important to differentiate this genetic condition from the acquired disorder vitiligo, avoiding useless treatments. Molecular testing may be useful, especially when family history is negative. In addition to cutaneous findings of piebaldism, the presence of ocular abnormalities (namely dystopia canthorum and heterochromia iridium), along with hearing loss should raise suspicion for Waardenburg syndrome, also ruled out in our case by genetic testing. Piebaldism is a benign, nonprogressive disorder but can be socially disabling. Unfortunately, lesions of leukoderma are generally unresponsive to medical or light therapy. However, cosmetic camouflage techniques and hair dying can improve pati...

The other causes of traffic accidents are due to human errors and/or due to mechanical failures. Driver fatigue is one of the leading causes of Road Traffic Accidents (RTA) in Pakistan. Numerous systems are invented that minimize the impact of these accidents. The research in this area began sixty years ago, to determine the drowsiness of driver using computer assisted techniques. In this paper, we have purposed a method that will detect the drowsiness of driver by its eye behavior, such as, eye blink rate and patterns. This paper presents a system for detecting driver drowsiness, based on analysis of the eyes. The system has the ability to adapt to any person, works in real driving conditions, under varying lighting and generating drowsiness index at every moment, which measures the wakefulness of the driver. In several e...
