In this regards, the IEEE802.11i standard was developed to address the security problems, even though the mistrust of the wireless LAN technology is still existing. The thought was that the best security solutions could be found in open standards based technologies that can be delivered by Virtual Private Networking (VPN) being used for long time without addressing any security holes for the past few years. This work, addresses this issue and presents a simulated wireless LAN of IEEE802.11g protocol, and analyzes impact of integrating Virtual Private Network technology to secure the flow of traffic between the client and the server within the LAN, using OPNET WLAN utility. Two Wireless LAN scenarios have been introduced and simulated. These are based on normal extension to a wired network and VPN over extension to a wired network. The re...

Due to the large volume of the unstructured format of text data, extracting relevant information and its analysis becomes very challenging. Text document clustering is a text-mining process that partitions the set of text-based documents into mutually exclusive clusters in such a way that documents within the same group are similar to each other, while documents from different clusters differ based on the content. One of the biggest challenges in text clustering is partitioning the collection of text data by measuring the relevance of the content in the documents. Addressing this issue, in this work a hybrid swarm intelligence algorithm with a K-means algorithm is proposed for text clustering. First, the hybrid fruit-fly optimization algorithm is tested on ten unconstrained CEC2019 benchmark functions. Next, the proposed method is evaluated on six standard benchmark text datasets. The experimental evaluation on the u...

In a previous research programme, robust speed or position control was achieved using a sliding mode method. However, the scheme suffered from certain disadvantages: the hardware scheme was relatively complex, the period for calculation of speed and acceleration from the position encoder signal was long and closed loop current control using a voltage source inverter was relatively slow. These resulted in limitation of the sampling frequency and also pulsations in speed. The solution applied by the authors uses the direct vector voltage control method. A variable structure controller based on a 3-dimensional sliding surface provides robust results and can be tuned for a fast, well damped response. However, with switching of the system state, the sampling frequency becomes increasingly critical and stress on the drive can be important. Torque vector control has been shown to give good response from a simple control scheme and pulsations may be reduced by modulation of the conduction periods of the power switching devices. The new device is based on the relationship between the water constitute in oil and the pressure of a sample from the oil. Experimental results show that the device can attain a very high resolution that can reach up +/- 0.4% and it can be used to measure a full range of water percentage levels (0-100%). Experimental results showed good agreement with theory.

The method is simpler than a conventional method based on a current control loop and requiring current sensing. To ensure robust control in the presence of load variations, sliding mode control of speed and position is applied.

Several techniques are used nowadays in networks to control network congestion. Most of these techniques are used for a unicast transmission. This paper is proposing a new technique to alleviate the multicast network congestion. This technique is also, trying to use the available network resources while reducing packets drops.

This affects directly the network congestion by saturating the buffers at the routers and contributes to generaring lots of data losses as weil as reception and transmission delays. The existing TCP end-to-end congestion control uses Additive Increase Multiplicative Decrease (AIMD) approach, a time out and slow start behavior, which lead to data throughput with abrupt changes. Therefore, developing new congestion control strategies based on non-analytical approaches will certainly help to overcome the current difficulties of the internet in particular which are due to network structural complexity, diversity of services supported, and to variety of parameters involved. This work presents a fuzzy logic-based approach for controlling the network congestion. Its main objective is to optimize the available bandwidth and keep smooth the data throughput transfer profile.

In this paper, an ultrasonic technique has been developed to examine the propagation of ultrasonic waves in the oil, water, and mixed oil-water liquids. The technique is expanded to determine the oil, emulsion, and water levels in an oil tank. A dedicated compact, low-cost, and programmable ultrasound-based Multi-layer level measurement (MLLM) device has been designed and implemented. The advantages of the new method over the current methods include contactless distance measurement, higher accuracy, lower cost, user friendly, simpler setup, and using non-nuclear rays. Additionally, the use of ultrasonic waves for the measurement has the advantage over light-based methods of being insensitive to dusty and smoky environment and almost independent of the object material and surface. Preliminary experiments have been conducted on the device. In this paper, the design and operating parameters of this device are discussed and evidence for the satisfactory performance is given.
