One of the complications can be gallbladder perforation, although can be a sequel to acalcular cholecystitis. In India, incidence of Gall bladder perforation is estimated to be around 4%. There has been a marked increase in the incidence of the gallstone in the West during the past century. Material and Methods: The aim of our study was to highlight the Etiopathogenesis, Diagnosis, Management and Complications of gall bladder perforations. Results: In our study 35 patients were studied ageing between 25-80 years of age with a mean age of 54.3+14.53 years. Majority of our study patients i.e. 13 (37.1%) aged >60 years. Type 2 GB perforation was seen in 30 (85.7%) patients, followed by Type 1 in 3 (86% patients while as 2 (5.7%) patients were found to have Type ...

Laparoscopic ventral hernia repair (LVHR) has been introduced to practice in the early 1990’s by Karl Leblance. In this techniques, the mesh is placed in the intra-peritoneal position and is fixed to surrounding intact peritoneal wall. The most frequently used methods of fixation are Tacks, with or without trans-fascial abdominal sutures and suture alone. Methods: We conducted a prospective randomised single centre study comparing different mesh fixation techniques for laparoscopic abdominal wall hernias in a parallel group design in Government Medical College, Jammu over a period of two years. All patients between 15 and 80 years of age who required nonurgent laparoscopic surgery for abdominal wall hernias were included. The patients were randomised to three different mesh fixation techniques. Results: In our study, maximum n...

The incidence of around 1.5 % to 3 % has been estimated. Peptic ulcer perforation presents with an overall mortality of 10 %. The management is also associated with significant post-operative morbidity and mortality regardless of whether laparoscopic or open repair is performed. In this study, we wanted to find out the incidence of peptic ulcer perforation and its management. METHODS Our study was a prospective observational study conducted in post graduate Department of Surgery, Government Medical College Srinagar, from October 2018 to November 2020. All patients were evaluated properly with all baseline investigations followed by X-ray chest and abdomen and ultrasonography (USG). RESULTS In our study, 136 patients were diagnosed as cases of peptic ulcer perforation. The maximum number of patients were in age group of 41-50 years (27.20 %). The male : female ratio was 14.1 : 1. Abdominal pain was present in all patients as presenting symptom followed by abdominal distension. In this study, 124 patients (91.2 %) had perforation in first part of duodenum, 9 patients (6.6 %) had perforation in prepyloric region and 3 (2.2 %) patients had perforation in body of stomach. Graham's Patch repair was done in 133 patients, 1 patient underwent primary closure, and 2 patients underwent distal gastrectomy with gastrojejunostomy. CONCLUSIONS Our study shows that young people with perforated peptic ulcer have fewer coexisting medical illness, a lower complication rate and a more favorable outcome as compared to elderly patients with perforated peptic ulcer. A majority of such perforations are in 1 st part of duodenum with male preponderance. A plain chest radiograph is sufficient to make diagnosis in the classic case of sudden onset epigastric pain.

Very few cases of vesical calculi of more than 100 g has been reported in English literature. Largest vesical calculus was of weight 6294 g by Arthur et al. Bladder stones may be asymptomatic and discovered as incidental finding. However, when symptoms occur, these include lower abdominal pain, difficult urination, frequent urination, painful urination and blood in urine. Our CASE report demonstrated two vesical calculi weighing 194 g and 292 g which is a rare finding in today's urological practice.

It has replaced open cholecystectomy as gold standard treatment for cholelithiasis and inflammation of gallbladder. It is estimated that approximately 90% of cholecystectomies in the United States are performed using a laparoscopic approach. The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of Laparoscopic cholecystectomy in context to its complications, morbidity and mortality in a tertiary care hospital. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted on 1200 patients, who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomies, during the period from January 2019 to December 2019, at Government Medical College Jammu J & K, India and necessary data was collected and reviewed. Results: In our study, a total of 1200 patients were studied including 216 males (18%) and 984 females (82%). The mean age of the patients was 43.35±8.61. The mean operative time in our study was 55.5±10.60 m...

This study was chosen most importantly to determine the post-operative persisting chronic pain after the use of sutureless mesh. Data was collected from patients attending Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Jammu OPD, admitted in the department of surgery that underwent sutureless mesh hernioplasty for inguinal hernias. These patients were followed up at 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months and 6 months for postoperative pain, any recurrence or development of complications. In this study, 40 patients having inguinal hernia were taken. 38 (95%) were males and 2 (5%) were females. The age of the patients ranged between 30 to 80 years with mean age of 54.53±14.88 years. Post-operative pain was studied according to VISUAL ANALOG SCALE scoring, out of 10. Mean post-operative pain score after 3 days was 2.70±1.16, which decreased to 0.85± 1.10 at 3 weeks (68.52% decrease) and after 3 months it was 0.30...

They pose a major Diagnostic and therapeutic challenge to modern world. Interventional radiology is becoming standard of care for liver Abscesses. Methods: All patients of pyogenic liver abscess admitted to Government Medical College and hospital Jammu, J and K, India from October 2018 to November 2019 were prospectively studied. Demographics, presentation, lab reports and management strategies were evaluated. Results: Total of 60 patients of pyogenic liver abscesses were studied with 81.7% males. Alcohol was found to be most common risk factor with 55% of patients being alcoholic. Right lobe of liver was involved in 66.7% of patients. Segment VI and VII were involved in 50% of patients. The most common clinical symptom was right upper quadrant pain (98.3%), followed by fever (91.7%). The most common clinical sign was right upper quadrant tenderness (91.7%).
