Increasingly, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become a vital tool used in all ... more Increasingly, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become a vital tool used in all sectors to carry out tasks effectively and efficiently. The use of ICT in health care sectors has the potential to improve the quality of service, diagnosis and retrieval of information. However, majority of the studies were concentrated on investigating ICT prospective in Tertiary Health Care (THC) and Secondary Health Care (SHC) with Primary Health Care (PHC) been left out. This paper therefore investigates the utilization and barriers to ICT usage in 10 Primary Health Care (PHC) centers located in Jigawa State. The paper takes a twofold approach to combine the views of two parties; the Health Care Personals and the Citizens using the PHC services. A questionnaire survey involving 80 Health Care Personal and 40 Citizens is used in the research. The results revealed that ICT utilization is very poor among Health Care Personnel, ICT improves patient managements and the main barriers to ICT utilization include unavailability of facilities, lack of staff training, Lack of awareness and insufficient knowledge. These findings can be used to improve the quality of healthcare delivery in PHCs.Keywords: Citizens, Barriers, Survey, Services, Primary, Health, Care

Nowadays, Electronic commerce has received attention in many parts of the world, because it has t... more Nowadays, Electronic commerce has received attention in many parts of the world, because it has the potential to improve many aspects of business activities. Despite this, there have been recent studies carried out on Electronic commerce adoption in both developed and developing countries. Some of these studies have placed importance on economical and technological infrastructure in countries where E-commerce is to be used. Additional factors that are to be considered to successfully adopt E-commerce are the creation of public awareness, creation of trust amongst online stores and customers, geographical locations and other internal and external influences. This paper is aimed to find out the reason why E-commerce has not been fully adopted in Nigeria though some of the requirements needed are available. The paper will also look at other problems experienced by those countries that have fully benefitted from Electronic commerce activities and the benefit they got from it and to make a proper recommendation for a way forward to fully adopt E-commerce in Nigeria.

Sorting large data sets or database is a problem commonly found in Computer Science and to find a... more Sorting large data sets or database is a problem commonly found in Computer Science and to find a solution to this problem, several quicksorting algorithms were developed while some need to be improved upon to make them more efficient. Sorting algorithms can be developed using both shared and non-shared data based on programmers’ choices. This paper aimed to develop three distinct sorting algorithms that involved shared data using three concurrency mechanisms in Java to measure their running times and to compare their performances. The main method used is the practical measurement of running times using benchmarking carried out on a machine with eight (8) processing cores. Using this feature will enable concurrent programmers to fully utilize the benefits of processing power available in multi-core processors. Therefore, this study aims to use processor affinity to develop four different frameworks that could optimize the efficiency of quick sorting algorithms on multi-core platforms. Methods: Benchmarking is the method used to carry out all the experiments and test the developed algorithm's efficiencies using all four frameworks. Research has shown that activities that elevate people’s sense of SWB have a significant effect on their overall health. There are two dimensions of SWB: Affective and Cognitive dimensions. However, studies on SWB usually focus more on one dimension, ignoring the other dimension. Also, most existing studies on SWB focused on individuals from Western cultures. Research has shown that the influence of personality on the subjective well-being components is moderated by culture. Thus, to advance research in personalizing persuasive health interventions, this study focuses on Africans (n=732). Specifically, we investigate the relationship between the Big-Five personality traits and both dimensions of SWB using the constructs: Happiness, Satisfaction with Life, Social, Psychological and Emotional well-being. Sorting and merging are two problems that commonly arise in Computer Science especially in data p... more Sorting and merging are two problems that commonly arise in Computer Science especially in data processing tasks. To solve these problems, several algorithms have been developed. Similarly, existing merge and sorting algorithms have been improved to provide more efficient and accurate results. In this paper, selection and merging algorithms were developed on an octa-core processing machine using System.nanoTime methods in Java in order to compare their running times. The results obtained show that Merge Sort performs far better than selection sort with careful implementations by taking advantage of multiple processing cores in the test machine and some concurrency utility in Java. It was concluded that implementing algorithms using a machine with multiple numbers of cores in their Central Processing Unit (CPU) will result in a significant improvement in the performance of both algorithms.

Матеріали і методи. У дослідження включено 52 пацієнти віком 41–80 років (62,8±8,6 року): 27 (51,9 %) чоловіків і 25 (48,1 %) жінок. Дизайн дослідження передбачав проведення дослідження проліферативної активності (Кі-67) в аденокарциномах прямої кишки, подальшу неоад’ювантну променеву терапію (НПТ) сумарною вогнищевою дозою (СВД) 20–25 Гр (4–5 сеансів по 5 Гр) із застосуванням фізичного радіомодифікатора (локального низькочастотного магнітного поля), після завершення якої повторно досліджували проліферативну активність (Кі-67) в аденокарциномах та проводили оперативне лікування відповідно.
