The opportunities being offered by the modern technologies incorporated in physical education can produce remarkable outcomes. This study offers an exploration into the potential use of technology as an aid in physical education. It reflects the practical prospects that new technology offers and the ways it can be applied to improve the learning process in physical education classrooms. Teachers can take help from digital technologies for better engagement of the students. For this purpose, teachers can first adapt to the technology by different formal and informal learning sources like seminar, conferences, training program, self-education and peer group discussions. To avoid technology being a source of distraction, a well-designed and practically controlled system of technology needs to be introduced into the classroom. The overall under...

Considering the constant flow similar to industrial pipelines, the dynamic systems for the corrosion inhibition analysis provide more accurate investigation of pipeline corrosion. Towards this aspect, we have analyzed the inhibition of MIC induced by chitosan@lignosulfonate (CS@LS) nanospheres in dynamic water injection systems using custom-made flow cell with a flow rate of 1 L/min. The designing and fabrication of flow cell have been made in a way that carbon steel coupons are placed in the bottom of flow cell. From the scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis, the sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) induced corrosion is visible in SS400 carbon steel coupons and the corrosion products are FeS, Fe2O3, and organic sulfur as a result of SRB activity, however, the intensity of these peaks reduced in the presence of CS@LS. The electrochemical impedance analysis showed that the CS@LS exhibited a maximum of 84% corrosion inhibition. This work provides an insight into the use of CS@LS nanosphere in realistic practical applications such as oil and gas plants to prevent the damages caused by MIC.

This study used pre-IPO characteristics and ex-post consequences of IPO firms to address the exceeding research objective. This study used a sample of 70 newly listed firms during 2000 to 2014 on Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE). In this study, a panel probit regression model is used to estimate the impact of fundamental factors on going public decision. The results of this analysis reveal that larger-size firms, carrying high sales growth, more profitable, industry MTB ratio, and firms related general trade industry come into sight are significant determinants. Furthermore, this study also examined ex-post consequences of IPO firms by comparing with the same pre-IPO characteristics by using ‘Wilcoxon two-sample signed rank’ test. The results of this investigation reveal that: Going public decision is used (i) to dilute ownership, risk diversification, and reduction in external monitoring (ii) to finance their fut...

Acanthamoeba are widely distributed in the environment and are known to cause blinding keratitis ... more Acanthamoeba are widely distributed in the environment and are known to cause blinding keratitis and brain infections with greater than 90% mortality rate. Currently, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a highly sensitive and promising technique in Acanthamoeba detection. Remarkably, the rate of heating–cooling and convective heat transfer of the PCR tube is limited by low thermal conductivity of the reagents mixture. The addition of nanoparticles to the reaction has been an interesting approach that could augment the thermal conductivity of the mixture and subsequently enhance heat transfer through the PCR tube. Here, we have developed hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) nanoparticle-based PCR assay for the rapid detection of Acanthamoeba to amplify DNA from low amoeba cell density. As low as 1 × 10−4 wt % was determined as the optimum concentration of hBN nanoparticles, which increased Acanthamoeba DNA yield up to ~16%. Further, it was able to reduce PCR temperature that led to a ~2.0-fo...

This study investigates that investment banks used Dividend Discount Model (DDM), Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) and comparable multiples valuation models on the basis of firm-specific characteristics, aggregate stock market returns and volatility before the IPOs. In this study, a binary logit regression model is used to estimate the cross-sectional determinants of the choice of valuation models by investment banks. The results reveal that underwriters are more likely to use DDM to value firms that have dividends payout trail. The investment banks select DCF when valuing the younger firms, that have more assets-in-tangible, firms that have negative sales growth and positive market returns before the IPO; while comparable...

During the crisis the countries affected saw turmoil in both currency and stock markets. If stock prices and exchange rates are related and the causation runs from exchange rates to stock prices, then the crisis in the stock markets can be prevented by controlling the exchange rates. Moreover, developing countries can exploit such a link to attract/stimulate foreign portfolio investment in their own countries. Similarly, if the causation runs from stock prices to exchange rates then authorities can focus on domestic economic policies to stabilise the stock market. If the two markets/prices are related then investors can use this information to predict the behaviour of one market using the information on other market.1 Most of the empirical literature that has examined the stock prices-exchange rate relationship has focused on examining this relatio...

In this study, a nanoparticle-assisted polymerase chain reaction (nanoPCR) assay targeting the N gene of PEDV was developed and the sensitivity and specificity were investigated. Under the optimized conditions for detection of PEDV RNA, the nanoPCR assay was 100-fold more sensitive than a conventional RT-PCR assay. The lower detection limit of the nanoPCR assay was 2.7×10(-6)ng/μL of PEDV RNA and no cross-reaction was observed with other viruses. This is the first report to demonstrate the application of a nanoPCR assay for the detection of PEDV. The sensitive and specific nanoPCR assay developed in this study can be applied widely in clinical diagnosis and field surveillance of PEDV-infection.

The effect of the recently developed graphene nanoflakes (GNFs) on the polymerase chain reaction ... more The effect of the recently developed graphene nanoflakes (GNFs) on the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has been investigated in this paper. The rationale behind the use of GNFs is their unique physical and thermal properties. Experiments show that GNFs can enhance the thermal conductivity of base fluids and results also revealed that GNFs are a potential enhancer of PCR efficiency; moreover, the PCR enhancements are strongly dependent on GNF concentration. It was found that GNFs yield DNA product equivalent to positive control with up to 65% reduction in the PCR cycles. It was also observed that the PCR yield is dependent on the GNF size, wherein the surface area increases and augments thermal conductivity. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations were performed to analyze the heat transfer through the PCR tube model in the presence and absence of GNFs. The results suggest that the superior thermal conductivity effect of GNFs may be the main cause of the PCR enhancement.
