The coarse-grained sample of Ti-6Al-4V was compressed from each of the three sides, sequentially at an elevated temperature which constitutes one set of forging. Such set of compression was carried out for two more times by progressively decreasing the temperatures. The huge accumulated strain imposed on the specimen reduced the grain size to ~7 m, which is attractive for superplastic forming and also for improved strength and toughness.

Patients presenting with clinical features of HFMD were followed-up prospectively for a period of 3 months for the occurrence of delayed cutaneous manifestations. Out of 68 patients on regular follow-up, 23 (33.8 %) showed different types of skin and nail changes following HFMD. Nineteen showed features of onychomadesis, 9 developed nail discoloration, and Beaus line was noted in 5 patients. Cutaneous desquamation was seen in 7 patients. Spontaneous re-growth of nails occurred in all cases within 12 weeks follow-up. Skin desquamation subsided by 2-4 weeks. Delayed cutaneous findings following HFMD are common.

Research paper thumbnail of Constraints on the Generalized Uncertainty Principle from Black Hole Thermodynamics

In this paper, we calculate the modification to the thermodynamics of a Schwarzschild black hole ... more In this paper, we calculate the modification to the thermodynamics of a Schwarzschild black hole in higher dimensions because of Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP). We use the fact that the leading order corrections to the entropy of a black hole has to be logarithmic in nature to restrict the form of GUP. We observe that in six dimensions, the usual GUP produces the correct form for the leading order corrections to the entropy of a black hole. However, in five and seven dimensions a linear GUP, which is obtained by a combination of DSR with the usual GUP, is needed to produce the correct form of the corrections to the entropy of a black hole. Finally, we demonstrate that in five dimensions, a new form of GUP containing quadratic and cubic powers of the momentum also produces the correct form for the leading order corrections to the entropy of a black hole.

There was no history of vomiting, visual disturbances, convulsion or any other complaints. On examination, the child was drowsy, there was bradycardia (pulse rate-60/min, otherwise regular), mild hypertension (BP-128/88 mm of Hg). There was no other significant finding on general survey. Examination of central nervous system revealed bilateral papilledema. There was no cranial nerve palsy and focal neurological deficit. Examination of other systems revealed no abnormality. After two days headache became continuous and the child gradually developed right-sided 3rd cranial nerve palsy with episodes of neck pain. Within next three days consciousness deteriorated and signs of tentorial herniation developed gradually. There was dilatation of left pupil followed by left sided hemiparesis.

Mostly it appears under three years of age and is characterized by purpuric skin lesions, fever and edema. A three years-old boy, who has cough and coryzea was admitted to our clinic for fever and red spots on legs and arms. In physical examination; ecimotic skin lesions on right ear, face, arms, dorsal of the hands, buttocks, legs and dorsal of the feet were found. In the laboratory tests acute phase reactants were elevated and blood coagulation tests were in normal range. Hepatit A,B,C and TORCH markers were negative. Punch biopsy obtained from gluteal area showed leukositoclastic vasculity. Focal fibrinogen accumulation was detected by immun fluorescent microscopy. Regression on lesions was not observed despite supportive therapy, so prednisolone (1 mg/kg/day) therapy was started. On the third day of the steroid therapy, complete recovery was achived.

These caudal appendages are divided into true-tails and pseudo-tails. We report here two cases of congenital pseudo-tail with underlying spina bifida and lipo-meningocele. In this article we seek to emphasize that, as the skin and nervous systems are intimately linked by their similar ectodermal origin, a dorsal appendage may be regarded as a cutaneous marker of the underlying spinal dysraphism.
