By 2011 India has exceeded that proportion (8.0 percent) and is expected to reach 12.6 percent in 2025. According to the SRS Bulletin published in the year 2012, Kerala has 11.8 % old age Male and 13.3% Female old age and total elderly population is 12.6% in 2011 in Kerala. Now it is increased. (Source: SRS Bulletin (Sample Registration System) October, 2012, Registrar General of India, New Delhi). According to data from the World Population Prospects: the 2017 Revision, the number of older personsthose aged 60 years or over is expected to more than double by 2050 and to more than triple by 2100, rising from 962 million globally in 2017 to 2.1 billion in 2050 and 3.1 billion in 2100. Globally, population aged 60 or over is growing faster than all younger age groups.

Studies on quality of life and social support demonstrate vital role in the life of elderly. Supp... more Studies on quality of life and social support demonstrate vital role in the life of elderly. Support can be defined as the help which one can use in difficult situations. As such support reduces the risk of many psychological problems in an individual's life. So social support can leads to quality of life and play prominent role in the dimensions of quality of life. The present review evaluates the existing literature on the quality of life and social support in the light of modern era conceptions of human development. This review study used secondary sources of data from journals, books, documents and newspapers. The databases used were Medline, Pub med and the Google Scholar. In total, 43 articles were identified and only 20 are selected for the final review processes. Marital and family factors as well as the parent child relationship and relation with friends, neighbours also play a vital role for being a healthy person. This review also tries to explain the validity of a concept like quality of life and social support in the modern digital era and in the light of modern relationships and their effect on the mind of the elderly involved. This study concludes that coming studies must concentrate on elderly with their QoL and Social support.
