It comprises the results of systematic researches made by a collective of geographers, throughout a 5-year period. This 712-page book is divided into 22 chapters, which represent all the research areas tackled by the authors. Its primary purpose is to bring a new, modern approach to the classic geography study. The first chapter (Geographical position and limits) represents an introduction, in which the general features of Prahova County are outlined, along with its position and limits. The second and third chapters present the geological features and the underground resources of the county, whilst the fourth chapter, the second longest of the whole book, handles the physical geography of the area. Here, the relief's characteristics are explained in detail, and the units are presented structurally, in subsections, according to the major form of relief (The Mountainous Unit; Depressions, small basins and valley corridor in mountainous area; The Subcarpathian Unit; The Plan Unit). In chapter five (Climate), the author makes a complete presentation of the climate genetic factors, the climatic elements and the climatic units of Prahova County. Chapter six (Hydrography) provides an extensive presentation of the river network, the lakes and the underground waters, and also, an analysis of the hydrological regime. The seventh (Vegetation) and the eighth (Fauna) chapters contain well-structured and comprehensive descriptions of the local vegetation and fauna whilst the ninth (Soils) presents the soils and the soil cover limitations in the county. The tenth chapter deals with the Protected natural areas, and in the eleventh chapter (Types of geographic landscapes. Types of environments) there's a brief presentation of the landscape types and features in table form. In the twelfth chapter, the authors present the Elements of historical geography, including some interesting details regarding the toponymy, ethnogeography and heraldry, which give more depth to the chapter, and also provide a good transition to the human geography part of the book. The thirteenth chapter (Population. Geodemographic features) contains the analysis of the main demographic characteristics of the county's population, in which various indices and indicators were calculated and explained. The largest chapter of the book, the fourteenth (Urban and rural settlements), is split into two unequal parts: urban settlements and rural settlements. The first part starts with the presentation of the generations of towns, the genetic types and the functional types of towns in Prahova County. It's very interesting that each of the 14 municipalities and towns has its own subsection in the book, thereby marking their role in one of the most complex urban systems in the country. The second part covers the rural aspects of the settlements in the county, including typology and morphology. Chapter fifteen covers a few elements of social geography such as settlement utilities and infrastructures, quality of life and unemployment. The economic potential and its sustainable use is the title of the sixteenth chapter, in which the authors discuss the main features of the county's economy. Dominated by the industrial sector, Prahova is distinguished by the production of petroleum products, technological equipment and oil and gas extraction equipment. Chapter seventeen (Agriculture and forestry) contains information about the land fund and the land use, agricultural production, grazing activities, forests and forestry. Chapter eighteen (Transportation) is dedicated to one of the elements that defined the county's evolution, the transportation system. The analysis starts with a brief review of

The natural consequence of tourism’s demands is carried out by the desire to preserve the environment. Therefore, the development of tourism in the Canaries has to be done along with the preservation of the environmental integrity of this wonderful insular region. As a result, we consider the rational exploitation reasonable, as long as we keep a balance between the satisfaction given to the tourists, the development possibilities of the tourist regions and the protection and preservation of the tourist resources. Keywords: tourism, sustainable development, caldeira, barrancos, catamaran, parasailing, Tajinaste rosa, national park.

The materials were 336 interviews with tourists. Specially designed questionnaire allowed fast data collection. The questions were of qualitative and quantitative type, useful to encode the expressed opinions of the tourists. The results highlight the need for destination marketing organizations to pay more attention to the link between destination image and food events. It concludes that tourism practices enable the continuity of local foods, reinterpreted in the light of urban consumption. Further research is needed to explain why, despite recommend a food tourism policy integrating upon the preservation and the development of the cultural and ethnic identity, in order to attract tourists.

The use of waters in the zone of the studied basin has maintained, compared to other regions at a high level, both as a volume and diversification of the uses, being explained by the great number of settlements (2 metropolises, 12 towns and over 60 villages) with the population of about 745.000 inhabitants, but owing to the presence of a lot of industrial units which need a lot of water. The Use of the Rivers' Waters The running waters inside the Prahova fluvial system have the most end different uses, both for the domestic consumption and the industrial one, irrigation of the agricultural surfaces or in pisciculture. Internet vinarijama pruža mogućnost lakog i efikasnog predstavljanja.

Very often rural and mountainous areas in Serbia have been neglected, without developmental perspectives. Sustainable tourism development in these areas represents conditionality for the use of tourism areas, so that they are not destroyed in such a way that future generations cannot use them. Destinations that have the capability to offer such tourism resources are able to be competitors in the tourism market. The significance of tourism development for rural and mountainous parts of Serbia is extremely high given that world tourism trends are oriented towards such destinations. In this framework, the relations between the region and the central powers, the state or it's mode of integration into the global system remain important structural forces. Regional development is mainly aimed at the harmonious development of the territory of a region from an economic, social and cultural point of view, by avoiding the negative effects of excessive urbanization process. In the context of regional development on a matrix of sustainable development the city of Ploiești is regarded as the coordinating centre for the settlements in the immediate vicinity and used as a tool to achieve the goal of regional development, namely a territorial, balanced development of the regions. This paper tries to highlight the city of Ploiesti as the engine of the regional sustainable development through spatial diffusion of growth impulses to the area of influence in terms of protecting the environment and boosting development processes in small towns and adjacent rural areas.

Therefore, a cruise is defined nowadays as a harmonious combination of travelling by sea or river space and recreation. That is why, in the beginning, during the first decades of the 20th century, cruises represented more of a luxury tourist product, available for the rich social classes. After almost a century, the tourism practiced by naval transport means has totally changed its image and structural organisation, becoming a mass tourist product, with a high social, but also cultural diversity, from a luxury product for a small public. The main factor leading to this evolution is the technological progress that has allowed, on the one hand, the reduction of exploitation costs, and, thus, of prices (sometimes wit...

The paper analyzes the impacts of mining activities on sustainable land management in mining area... more The paper analyzes the impacts of mining activities on sustainable land management in mining areas in the Republic of Serbia and Romania and discusses the main challenges related to the management of these issues in legislation and practice. Particular attention is paid to land disturbance, mine waste management and land reclamation, as well as access to land for mining purposes, the transfer of mining royalties and the partnerships of the mining industry, governments, communities and civil society for sustainable mining. Both governments are willing to provide the adequate role to mining in strengthening the national economies, but they face numerous constraints in this matter. Sustainable mining practices and consistent implementation of the mining for the closure planning approach, within an improved legislative framework and in cooperation with stakeholders at all levels, create conditions for the development of creative, profitable, environmentally-sound and socially-responsible management and reuse of mine lands.

Although it should be encouraged due to the multiplier effect that it has in the development of a region, it creates pressure on the surrounding environment like any other economic activity in the process of specific potential capitalization. This paper is aimed at determining the degree of tourism pressure, its trend and impact on tourism's sustainable development and the Romanian economy. When this pressure exceeds the ecological support capacity, negative effects occur, both on the landscape in general, and on certain tourist objectives, in particular. The assessment of this pressure and its most accurate quantification imply the use, calculation, correlation and interpolation of indicators that may summarize certain aspects related to the density of tourist fittings, tourist traffic intensity and capitalization level. Hence, the approach would be considered regionally and in terms of tourism pressure dynamics, depending on the structure of available statistical data, as well as to get a clearer picture. The authors used methods specific to geography, as well as statistical and econometric methods. The interdependence between tourism, tourism pressure and sustainability is described in the Central region. The results and observations determined with reference to the factors and indicators shown underlie the coordination of the tourism activity in the other regions according to the processes of sustainability and tourism pressure mitigation.
The production and accumulation of increasingly significant quantities of waste made it necessary... more The production and accumulation of increasingly significant quantities of waste made it necessary to adopt some adequate policies and strategies in order to limit the negative impact of this waste on the environmental life and security. Our research approached the following problems: quality of the environmental factors, analysis of the size of the impact, evaluation of the potential impact on the environmental factors, evaluation of the global impact and post-closure monitoring of TârgovisteAninoasa solid waste dump. Taking into account the value of the global pollution index and the bonity grades for each environmental factor, we have noticed that, through the closure of the solid waste dump, the environment is affected within the allowable limits, the impact is low and local, and the effects of this project on the environmental factors are positive.
