This study was conducted to isolate filoplan unicellular microbes which have antibiosis ability a... more This study was conducted to isolate filoplan unicellular microbes which have antibiosis ability and characterize the secondary metabolite produced to inhibit Collectotrichum capsici in-vitro. This research was conducted at the Departement Plant Pest and Diseases, University of Brawijaya. Microbe isolated from the surface of chilies in a different age. Isolates microbes were tested for antagonistic potential against C. capsici. The persistence of the potential antagonist under different conditions of pH, temperature, and the light was also examined. An antagonist test was conducted to confirm the antibiosis mechanism. Furthermore, extracts were characterized using pH, light exposure, and temperature. The most potential antagonist was identified as isolate C3C with 36.20% inhibition. pH 5, 350C temperature, and light exposure of 0% is the best media optimization with the percentage of inhibition 37.5%, 38.2%, and 42.3%

Desa Kandangtepus merupakan wilayah yang mayoritas masyarakatnya menanam pisang kirana, serta pem... more Desa Kandangtepus merupakan wilayah yang mayoritas masyarakatnya menanam pisang kirana, serta pemasarannya yang sudah menembus pasar ekspor. Desa Kandangtepus menghasilkan pisang yang terkenal yaitu pisang Mas Kirana. Namun di daerah tersebut belum memiliki pengolahan makanan khas dari dasar buah pisang yang bisa meningkatkan harga dari pisang Kirana di masa depan selain sebagai komoditas ekspor. Karena itu maka pengabdian ini kami memilih kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan pie pisang yang diharapkan nantinya bisa menjadi suatu makanan khas di daerah Kandangtepus dan bisa dikenal ke masyarakat luas diluar Lumajang. Pie pisang memiliki kandungan gizi yang baik untuk kesehatan tubuh manusia salah satunya untuk pencernaan, selain itu kandungan gizi yang terkandung di dalam pie pisang / 50 gr adalah sebagai berikut : kalori 158 kkal, lemak 8,05 gr, protein 1,5 gr, karbohidrat 21,3 gr, serat 1,3 gr, gula 10,7 gr, sodium 187 mg, kalium 32 mg, kolesterol 0 mg. Diharapkan dengan pembuatan pie pisang masyarakat lebih kreatif dan memiliki ketrampilan lebih sehingga bisa meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat khususnya di desa tersebut

Monoterpenes R-pulegone (PUL) and R-menthofuran (MF), abundant in the Lamiaceae family, are frequ... more Monoterpenes R-pulegone (PUL) and R-menthofuran (MF), abundant in the Lamiaceae family, are frequently used in herb and food products. Although their hepatotoxicity was shown in rodent species, information about their effects in human liver has been limited. The aim of our study was to test the effects of PUL, MF and acetaminophen (APAP, as a reference compound) on cell viability and microRNA (miRNA) expression in human precision-cut liver slices. Slices from five patients were used to follow up on the inter-individual variability. PUL was toxic in all liver samples (the half-maximal effective concentration was 4.0 µg/mg of tissue), while MF and surprisingly APAP only in two and three liver samples, respectively. PUL also changed miRNA expression more significantly than MF and APAP. The most pronounced effect was a marked decrease of miR-155-5p expression caused by PUL even in non-toxic concentrations in all five liver samples. Our results showed that PUL is much more toxic than MF and APAP in human liver and that miR-155-5p could be a good marker of PUL early hepatotoxicity. Marked inter-individual variabilities in all our results demonstrate the high probability of significant differences in the hepatotoxicity of tested compounds among people.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurological disorder with a complex pathological etiology, which i... more Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurological disorder with a complex pathological etiology, which is not fully understood. Progression of PD may be the result of a buildup of iron in the substantia nigra, microgliamediated neuroinflammation, dysfunctional mitochondria, or abnormal protein handling. Dopamine is the main neurotransmitter affected, but as the disease progresses, a decrease in all the brain's biogenic amines occurs. Current medication used in the treatment of PD aims to prevent the breakdown of dopamine or increase dopaminergic neurotransmission in the central nervous system. The complementary use of green tea (Camellia sinensis), red wine (Vitis vinifera), arctic root (Rhodiola rosea), and dwarf periwinkle (Vinca minor) may have a greater therapeutic effect than current pharmaceutical drugs, such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors or dopamine agonists alone. The bioactive components of these plants have been shown to have neuroprotective, antioxidant, anti-proteinopathies, neural-vasodilation, anti-inflammatory, and iron chelating potential. They may treat the disease at the cellular level by decreasing microglia activation, attenuating damage from radical oxygen species, supporting correct protein folding, chelating iron, increasing the substantia nigra blood flow, and promoting dopaminergic cell growth. Although these alternative medicines appear to have potential, further human clinical trials need to be conducted to determine whether they could have a greater therapeutic effect than conventional medicines alone.

This paper uses the Gambit software and Fluent software to simulate the wind speed, spot spacing and vertical distance factors affecting diffusion welding fume, get the diffusion characteristics of welding fume: in the same section, the greater the spacing, the lower the concentration decreased more quickly; in the same distance, the height of different dust source in the vertical direction, different concentration of welding fumes, smoke concentration is undergoing a process of first increased and then decreased. And put forward, using centrifugal swirl air diffusion, control technology for welding fume entrainment and stratification theory and technology, to achieve effective control of welding fume and energy saving.

This exploratory analysis examines the relationship between two dimensions of the parenting exper... more This exploratory analysis examines the relationship between two dimensions of the parenting experience-values regarding children and parenting strainsand depression in a sample of 285 urban, economically disadvantaged African American women. An examination of this relationship among economically disadvantaged African American women is important in light of the high stress exposure of these mothers, their limited opportunity to engage in rewarding employment, and in view of the centrality of motherhood in this cultural context. Our central finding is that the impact of parenting strains on depression is substantially moderated by beliefs about the costs and emotional fulfillment associated with having children. African American mothers who regard the costs of children as low and the potential of children for providing emotional fulfillment as high are significantly more depressed by high parenting strains than African American mothers who hold the opposite beliefs about the costs and benefits of children. Variation in values regarding children and parenting strains accounts for more than 40% of variation in depression. These findings suggest the importance of understanding the social-psychological factors that contribute to the quality of parenting, not only because maternal mental

Both involve analogies with superconductiv ity. We claim that the most appropriate analogies are type I superconductor s for bags and type II superconductor s for strings. The structures of hadrons is somewhat different for the two situations. In principle, and in practice in the real world, it is the similarities which are most important. These include linear confining potentials, linearly rising Regge trajectories and short distance Coulomb potentials. These are all generic properties of bound states in a superconductor and the main distinctions between bags and strings is under what circumstances these limiting behaviors set in.

Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Penyakit Tumbuhan, Jurusan Hama Penyakit Tumbuhan, Fakult... more Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Penyakit Tumbuhan, Jurusan Hama Penyakit Tumbuhan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Brawijaya, Malang dan Laboratorium Balai Besar Karantina Pertanian Surabaya pada bulan Maret sampai Agustus 2014. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yakni metode survei, komparasi, dan ekplorasi. Jamur tanah yang diperoleh dari lahan endemis sebanyak 15 isolat jamur dan terdiri 4 genus yang terdeterminasi antara lain Aspergillus sp., Fusarium sp., Gonatobotryum sp., Humicola sp., dan 2 jamur yang tidak terdeterminasi. Sedangkan dari lahan non endemis sebanyak 22 isolat jamur dan terdiri 11 genus yang terdeterminasi antara lain Acremonium sp., Aspergillus sp., Aureobasidium sp., Cephalosporium sp., Chrysosporium sp., Fusarium sp., Gonatobotryum sp., Humicola sp., Mucor sp., Penicillium sp., Rhizopus sp., dan 2 jamur yang tidak terdeterminasi. Nilai keanekaragaman jamur tanah lahan endemis dan non endemis >3 yakni 5,100 dan 5,455 yang termasuk kategori keanekaragaman tinggi. Nilai dominasi jamur tanah lahan endemis dan non endemis 1 yakni 1,883 dan 1,765 yang termasuk kategori keseragaman tinggi.
