Gas turbines are machines that work directly with ambient air, then anything that causes a change... more Gas turbines are machines that work directly with ambient air, then anything that causes a change in the inlet air condition, effect on turbine efficiency. Relative humidity, Mean sea level and environment temperature have a direct effect on gas turbine efficiency. In this research, reviews the type and effect of cooling system on the efficiency and out power turbine. Cooling the turbine inlet air (even by a few degrees) can increase power output substantially. This is because cooled air is denser, giving the turbine a higher mass-flow rate and resulting in increased turbine output and efficiency - even as much as 0.4% per degree Fahrenheit or about 0.7% per degree Celsius. Typically a 1° F temperature increase will result in a 0.5% decrease in power.

In this paper, bifacial PV module was characterized to investigate the optimum height and tilt an... more In this paper, bifacial PV module was characterized to investigate the optimum height and tilt angle of bifacial solar cells in Baghdad location. The module elevation is a key factor in bifacial PVs because of the effect of self-shading on the amount of diffuse and albedo that can hit the rear side of the panel. This elevation is a function of latitude, daylight time, and season, which is never been determined before in Baghdad location up to our knowledge. Various heights above the ground were used (100, 120, 140, and 160cm), and for each height several tilt angles were taken (0°, 12°, 30°, 49°, and 70°). Data were collected in several days of November, 2020. PV parameters were characterized at each condition. Rated power of the panel showed an increase when elevation increases from 100cm to 120cm then tends to level off at 140cm and 160cm heights. The data show that the province of Basra which taken the mean wind speed value of five years, located on the north of Arabian Gulf perfectly suitable for establish a project wind farm by the fact that the wind speed is acceptable, has also been design and calculation of the power and energy that can be obtained from the wind turbine. The results showed that the proposed wind energy power generating system is a good choice and can be implemented in Basra to provide enough power for small towns and rural areas.

This paper deals with the design, fabrication and implementation of an efficient method of part-f... more This paper deals with the design, fabrication and implementation of an efficient method of part-feeding mechanism (work-space fixture) for a stationary 2-DOF cylindrical coordinate robot. The aim was to design, fabricate each part of the unit with indigenous components and construct a prototype of an part- feeding mechanism such as a conveyer belt for a robotic system to pick up parts from one place and keep it at another place, say in a container. This is achieved by means of a robot which is used in conjunction with the conveyor belt mechanism for performing an assembly operation, say, a PNP operation and interacting with each other and control it with a Graphical User Interface (GUI) software written in Visual Basic (VB) language while performing an assembly operation avoiding all the obstacles in its path of motion from the source to the destination. The objective of this work was to build a low cost part-feeding mechanism to the robot that could perform simple industrial manipulation tasks like picking up of manufactured components from conveyer belt and placing in a bin or a container. The simulation, design, fabrication and implementation of the work is divided into different stages, viz., Design and fabrication of the mechanical hardware of the robotic system, Design of the electrical / electronic hardware for the robot system, Development of the control software and various algorithms by developing a user friendly GUI using Visual Basic language in order to control the entire designed and fabricated robotic system, Integration of all the above three stages to perform an application such as grasping of objects which are arriving on a conveyor belt and placing in an container such as a bin and repeating the same task again and again.

The novel design increases the torque in the left side of the wind turbine by increasing the drag coefficient. It also reduces the negative torque of the frame which rotates contrary to the wind in the other side. Two different types of models, having different vane shapes (flat vane and cavity shaped vane), were fabricated. Each type consisted of two models with varying number of frames (three and four frames). ABSTRACT Wind energy has often been touted as one of the most reliable sources of renewable energ... more ABSTRACT Wind energy has often been touted as one of the most reliable sources of renewable energy that should be used for people. Today, wind energy (mainly by propeller type wind turbines) produces less than one percent of the total energy used worldwide. Practically, a standard three-blade propellers efficiency of use of the wind energy is around twenty percents and this is due to its design and shape that use the wind lift force and a rotating turbine. In addition, these turbines are quite expensive due to the complex aerodynamic shape of the propellers which are made of composite materials. The new world boom for wind turbines obliges inventors to create new wind turbine designs that have high efficiency and are better than any known design. This paper proposes the new patented invention of the vane-type wind turbine which uses wind energy more efficiently and is only dependent on the acting area of the vanes. The vane wind turbine was designed to increase the output of a wind turbine that uses kinetic energy of the wind. Due to its high efficiency, simple construction and technology, the vane wind turbine can be used universally, apart from the fact that it is made from cheap materials. The new design of the vane-type wind turbine has quite small sizes than the propeller type one of same output power.

Experimental tests and modeling and microstructure tests were conducted to predict the cement paste's flow properties such as yield stress, shear strength (shear stress limit), viscosity, and compression stress at the failure of cement after hardened. Two different rheological models were used to predict the rheological properties of the cement paste, and based on the statistical assessments, the Vipulanandan rheological model predicted the shear stress versus shear strain rate better than the P-E model. The nanoclay (NC)-modified cement paste was measured at 0.35 and 0.45 of water/cement ratios, and the temperature varied between 25 and 75 °C. NC has improved ultimate shear stress and yield stress, respectively, by 22.5%–54.4% and 26.3%–203% based on the NC content, water/cement ratio (w/c), and temperature. The practical test show that the 4-frame rotor wind turbine gives slightly higher torque than 3-frame rotor wind turbine, however, the power coefficient for 3-frame wind turbine model is higher than of 4-frame wind turbine model for the same wind velocity.
