Most of the data are available in an unstructured or semi-structured format. Structuring of these data also presents a challenge. The other challenges linked with big data are its analysis, storage organizations, efficient retrieval mechanisms and building of models for accessing the data. The paper encompasses building smart application using state-of-the-art of current mobile technology that will cater to unpredictable travel utilities of the user. The scope of this paper is restricted to providing medical facilities via this proposed medTravelApp and presents analysis of big data to the users as AaaS.

This improvement can happen in several dimensions out of which security is a major one. Inconsistency and forgery are very common phenomenon where handwritten signatures are often preserved for training a classifier to authenticate a person. The removal of outliers, at the outset, obviously improves the quality of training and the classifier. The present article deals with the mechanized segregation of the poor-quality authentic signatures from reliable ones. Machine learning algorithms for outlier handling utilizing clustering, classification and statistical techniques have been implemented in this context. Subsequent performance evaluation after outlier removal reflects improvement of both true positive and true negative recognition rate accuracy. The performance evaluation presents the significant differences between authentication accuracy and fo...

Maintaining performance or balancing load of each resource in grid is always more challenging with high chances of resource failure. The objective of this paper is to improve the efficiency of the Nearest Deadline First Scheduled (NDFS) algorithm considering resource failure a sudden occurrence in grid. The algorithm introduces periodical runtime backup to another available resource for retaining Quality-of-Service as approved in service quality agreement. This paper presents multiple job execution cases through implementation of benchmark codes executed in local grid test bed using Globus Toolkit middleware, with an emphasis on resource failure phenomenon of grid. These experimental results establish the requirements of the proposed algorithm to ensure the job deadline misses get reduced even if unexpected resource failures happen.

The adoption of ICT in health care has resulted in deeper penetration of medical diagnostics and treatment among developed and developing countries. Though hospitals, diagnostic centers, and clinics are adopting smart models for delivering efficient medical services, there are areas that needs research in order to deliver medical services anywhere at anytime with the help of cloud. This paper focuses on services required to be provisioned in cloud for enabling smart medical treatment. We propose a layered service architecture for provisioning of medical services in cloud. We discuss specific application scenarios that are required from both provider and consumer side with test case implementation in Google cloud and provide graphical analysis of the performance of the implementation.

With fast, progressive, and simultaneous advancement of technology in distributed environment, provisioning of learning and teaching services in the cloud is a novel arena to virtually teach common individual across the globe. In order to monitor the accessing services to satisfy those individual consumer or society, negotiating and signing service level agreement (SLA) is essential. Hence, the objective of the paper is not only to provisioning e-Learning services in cloud, but also to enlist the functional parameters related to the services in SLA for monitoring purposes. This paper proposes a computational intelligent service provisioning and monitoring architecture along with the functionality and role of each component. This paper also presents the instantiation and evaluation of the proposed computational intelligent e-Learning architecture using the public cloud provider, Google App Engine, and monitors the quality of service.

Resources voluntarily become available in the grid, as a result of which, this collaborative computing becomes more cost effective than traditional HPC. In the grid, since, the participating resources are of varying capabilities, load balancing becomes an essential requirement. This workload distribution mechanism among available resources aims to minimize makespan, optimize resource usage, and prevent overloading of any resource. Eventually, the resources need to be prioritized based on their capability and demand in the current scenario. Thus, prioritization of resources balances workload in grid. In the proposed workload scheduling algorithm, nearest deadline first-scheduled (NDFS), resource ranking, and subsequent job scheduling maintains balanced load across the grid. The ranking of resources in computational grid is achieved using analytic hierarchy process (AHP) model. The primary objective of this paper is to optimize the workload of grid environment while executing multiple jobs ensuring maximum resource utilization within minimum execution time. Service quality agreement (SQA) is met through proper scheduling of jobs among ranked resources. The grid test bed environment is set up with the help of Globus toolkit 5.2. This paper presents the simultaneous execution results of the benchmark codes of fast Fourier transform (FFT) and matrix multiplication in order to balance the workload in grid test bed.

These huge premature deaths happen due to long-term exposure to air pollutants as most of the cities do not meet the acceptable pollution level suggested by World Health Organization (WHO). So there is an urgent need to reduce the air pollution level across the globe. This paper proposes a state-of-the-art approach and proposes a layered air pollution reduction framework. The methodology of the proposed framework also suggests the action plans to reduce air pollution level with an innovative Rule Base and mining appropriate data from the huge dataset which is basically a data warehouse. It also discusses the expected outcome of the proposed framework beneficial to the citizens.

Many developed countries have put forth standards and procedures that enable citizens to available medical services not only in designated hospitals or clinics, but also in their homes. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been leveraged to the fullest to achieve greater coherence in medical services. In developing countries, though there is a desire to increase reach of medical services, the infrastructure, policies and other factors create road blocks. The expectation in such countries can be met if there is a solution that is cheaper, reachable and easy to collaborate. Cloud computing paradigm can solve these issues. Integrated cloud computing provides a whole dynamic computing system for application program environment to the users. It can deploy, allocate or reallocate computing resource dynamically and monitor the usage of resources at all times. Quantifying the performance of scheduling and allocation policy on a cloud infrastructure for different application and service models under varying load, energy performance and system size is an extremely challenging problem to tackle. Simulator plays the role for designing a model of a real system and conducting experiments with this model for the purpose of either of understanding the behaviour of the system or of evaluating various strategies for the operation of the system. It is a process of reassigning the total load to the individual resources nodes of the collective system to make resource utilization effective and to improve the response time of the job. This paper presents a thorough comparative study of a few existing cloud simulators. It also proposes a load balancing approach in cloud computing environment.
