Bowel perforation was seen in 123 cases. Nineteen cases had underlying tubercular enteritis. Preoperative diagnosis was usually difficult. The terminal ileum was affected in 12 andthe jejunum in 5 cases. Multiple perforations were seen in 3 cases. Postoperative mortality was high (12/19) and usually attributable to their poor preoperative status..

We made use of the ground magnetic data from the Alibag (Geog. 1 8 ° 37' N, 72° 52' E, Geomag. 10° N, 145° 9) and high latitude station, Maitri, Antarctica (Geog. 70°

Duplication of the external genitalia was also present. Successful excision of the accessory limb and reconstruction of the genitalia was performed in the neonatal period.

We report a case of epigastric parasitic twinning where the parasite with a well-developed pelvis and lower limbs had accessory pelvic organs and was attached to the host above an omphalocele. The parasite was excised and the omphalocele managed conservatively by mercurochrome application. A review of the four previously reported cases is presented along with a discussion of the possible etiopathogenesis and nomenclature of this condition.

However, some patients unpredictably become hemodynamically unstable requiring emergency cardiopulmonary bypass or intra-aortic balloon pump support. After an experience of 5,306 multivessel off-pump coronary artery bypasses (OPCABs), this study was undertaken to determine the factors that would identify the patients who were at a higher risk for the procedure.

Research paper thumbnail of Geomagnetic field variation during winter storm at localized southern and northern high latitude

Journal of Astrophysics and Astronomy, 2008

This paper presents the effect of geomagnetic storm on geomagnetic field components at Southern (... more This paper presents the effect of geomagnetic storm on geomagnetic field components at Southern (Maitri) and Northern (Kiruna) Hemispheres. The Indian Antarctic Station Maitri is located at geom. long. 66.03 • S; 53.21 • E whereas Kiruna is located at geom. long. 67.52 • N; 23.38 • E. We have studied all the geomagnetic storms that occurred during winter season of the year 2004-2005. We observed that at Southern Hemisphere the variation is large as compared to the Northern Hemisphere. Geomagnetic field components vary when the interplanetary magnetic field is oriented in southward direction. Geomagnetic field components vary in the main phase of the ring current. Due to southward orientation of vertical component of IMF reconnection takes place all across the dayside that transports plasma and magnetic flux which create the geomagnetic field variation.

Research paper thumbnail of Copper oxide decorated multi-walled carbon nanotubes/ferroelectric liquid crystal composites for faster display devices

Journal of Applied Physics, 2012

ABSTRACT We present faster display devices based on copper oxide decorated multi-walled carbon na... more ABSTRACT We present faster display devices based on copper oxide decorated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) doped ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) material. The fastening of the response has been attributed to decrease in rotational viscosity of the FLC material. The ionic impurities were also reduced by doping copper oxide decorated MWCNTs into the FLC material, and the reduction has been attributed to trapping of ions by the guest copper oxide decorated MWCNTs. The observations of fastening the response and reduction of ionic impurities have been verified by experimental data using dielectric and electro-optical studies. The underlying mechanism would certainly help to understand the basic mechanism of interaction of CNTs with FLC molecules and could be applied to fabricate ionic defects free faster display devices.

A high responsivity of up to 1.2 kV/W is achieved at room temperature in ambient air. We evidence a strong dependence of the device transduction mechanism on the surrounding atmosphere, which can be attributed to bolometric effect interference with water molecule desorption
