We developed automated biodevices to obtain, automatically, measures about the space radiation ef... more We developed automated biodevices to obtain, automatically, measures about the space radiation effect on living photosynthetic organisms, which can be used as biomass and oxygen-producing system on shuttles or ISS. Vitality measurements were performed by optical devices (fluorimeters) measuring fluorescence emission. Fluorescence methodology is a well known applied technique for studying photosynthetic activity, and in particular the oxygen-evolving process of photosynthetic organisms. Different strains of unicellular green algae are properly immobilized on agar growth medium and kept under survial light. The biodevices are characterised by the sensibility and selectivity of the biological component response, together with easy use, versatility, miniature size and low cost. We performed experiments in some facilities, in order to understand separately the effect of radiation of different LET, on the biochemical activity (gamma rays at Joint Research Centre -Varese, Italy; fast neutr...

ABSTRACT Total and differential cross-sections for the photodisintegration reactions of4He have b... more ABSTRACT Total and differential cross-sections for the photodisintegration reactions of4He have been measured for excitation energies up to about 80 MeV with a diffusion cloud chamber in magnetic field. The dipole and quadrupole absorption contributions are deduced for two-body photodisintegration reactions. The different behaviour with the energy of the interference term for photoproton and photoneutron emission is confirmed. The ratio σ(γ, p)/σ(γ, n) is higher than 1, for photon energies lower than about 27 MeV, in agreement with some theoretical predictions. The results of the σ(γ, np) and σ(γ, 2n2p) cross-section measurements have been also analysed. Si sono misurate le sezioni d’urto totali e differenziali delle reazioni di fotodisintegrazione dell’4He fino a circa 80 MeV, con una camera a diffusione in campo magnetico. Si sono valutati i contributi dipolari e quadrupolari alle reazioni di fotodisintegrazione in due corpi. Il rapporto σ(γ, p)/σ(γ, n) è maggiore di 1 per energie dei fotoni inferiori a circa 27 MeV, in accordo con alcune previsioni teoriche. Si sono inoltre misurate ed analizzate le sezioni d’urto σ(γ, np) e σ(γ, 2n2p). Были иэмерены полные и дифференциальные поперечные сечения реакций фоторасшепления4He для знергий воэбуждения до 80 МзВ с помошью диффуэионной камеры в магнитном поле. Определяются вклады дипольного и квадрупольного поглошения для реакции двухчастичного фоторасшепления. Подтверждается раэличное поведение с знергией интерференционного члена для испускания протона и испускания нейтрона. Отнощение σ(γ, p)/σ(γ, n) окаэывается больще единицы для знергий фотона ниже 27 МзВ, что согласуется с теоретическими предскаэаниями. Проводится аналиэ реэультатов иэмерений поперечных сечений σ(γ, nр) и σ(γ, 2n2p).
