It is called pGamma and has been developed 10 by the Nuclear Engineering Research Group at the Technical 11 University of Catalonia -Barcelona Tech and by Raditel Serveis i 12 Subministraments Tecnològics, Ltd. The code has been developed 13 to identify the gamma emitters and to determine their activ-14 ity concentration. Two of the main decay properties that affect the final abundance distribution the most are half-lives and neutron branching ratios. Using fragmentation of a primary 238 U beam at GSI we were able to measure such properties for several neutron-rich nuclei from 208 Hg to 218 Pb. This contribution provides a short update on the status of the data analysis of this experiment, together with a compilation of the latest results published in this mass region, both experimental and theoretical. The impact of the uncertainties connected with the beta-decay rates and with beta-delayed neutron emission is illustrated on the basis of r-process network calculations. In order to obtain a reasonable reproduction of the third r-process peak, it is expected that both half-lives and neutron branching ratios are substantially smaller, than those based on FRDM+QRPA, commonly used in r-process model calculations. Further measurements around N ∼ 126 are required for a reliable modelling of the underlying nuclear structure, and for performing more realistic r-process abundance calculations.

A spectrometric analysis code has been specially designed for it. Spectrum analysis identifies and determines activity concentration of aerosol emitters captured by a fiberglass paper filter. This new equipment is currently operating in three radioactivity monitoring stations of the Environmental Radiological Surveillance Network of the Generalitat of Catalunya (local Catalan government): two near Ascó and Vandellòs Nuclear Power Plants in the province of Tarragona and one in the city of Barcelona. Two more monitors are expected to be deployed at Roses (province of Girona) and Puigcerdà (province of Barcelona). Measurements and evolution analysis results of emitters identified at these stations were also provided.

A total of four datasets has been collected and compared. They are all consistent to each other within the relative systematic uncertainty of 3-4%. The data collected at n_TOF have been suitably combined to yield a unique fission cross section ratio as a function of neutron energy. The result confirms current evaluations up to 200 MeV. Good agreement is also observed with theoretical calculations based on the INCL+ + /Gemini++ combination up to the highest measured energy. The n_TOF results may help solve a long-standing discrepancy between the two most important experimental datasets available so far above 20 MeV, while extending the neutron energy range for the first time up to ≈1 GeV.

The aim of the experiment is to determine half-lives and β-delayed neutron emission branching ratios of isotopes of Hg, Tl and Pb in this region. This contribution summarizes final counting statistics for identification and for implantation, as well as the present status of the data analysis of the half-lives. In summary, isotopes of Pt, Au, Hg, Tl, Pb, Bi, Po, At, Rn and Fr were clearly identified and several of them (208−211Hg, 211−215Tl, 214−218Pb) were implanted with enough statistics to determine their half-lives. About half of them are expected to be neutron emitters, in such cases it will become possible to obtain the neutron emission probabilities, Pn

The detector, characterized by an excellent time and energy resolution, consists of an array of 9 sCVD diamond diodes. The detector has been characterized and a cross-section measurement has been performed for the 59 Ni(n,α) 56 Fe reaction in 2012. The characteristics of the detector, its performance and the promising preliminary results of the experiment are presented.

In the next phase, with the construction of a second experimental area with a shorted flight path, the focus of the Collaboration will partially shift from high-resolution measurements of stable or long-lived isotopes, to high-flux measurements of isotopes of relatively short half-life, very low-cross sections, or available in very small quantities. The main results obtained so far at n_TOF and the future perspectives are here presented
