Crime is the most dangerous form of deviance and has the most severe social consequences. Combating crime would not be conceivable without the theories and knowledge of criminology. The application of theoretical knowledge in practice should be promoted in criminological research. The manifestations of crime as a socially negative and legal phenomenon are widespread, and social deviations can have completely different forms of manifestation. This is clearly supported by the findings of clinical criminology that evolved from the concept of classical criminology. Clinical criminology is a theoretical and practical study of the personality of a criminal who has committed a criminal offence in a state of mental incapacity or diminished mental capacity, and an approach to determining preventive measures and means..

Analytical, synthesis, inductive, deductive and descriptive research methods are used in the article. The authors conclude that the development of full, comprehensive and highly reliable crime forecasts is a laborious and complex process. Predictive measures should be designed in a more urgent manner-this might encompass the reporting of anticipated crimes in advance, as well as the indication of changes in the overall structure of crime and dangerous trends of a specific type of crime. Consequently, there must be a warning effect in order to prevent possible adverse trends.

Improving the quality of life of every member of society by improving economic activities, promoting social cohesion and security are of great importance. In today's society, crime, corruption and other adverse social phenomena have a major impact on the sustainable development of society by reducing investment in the development and implementation of full-fledged growth programmes. During the crisis and post-crisis period, social pathologies are growing and their adverse effects are increasing too. The true indicators of their prevalence and negative impact are objectively sufficiently not known. Adverse social phenomena have a particularly negative impact on the sustainable development of society, which has various and diverse forms of influence. Large financial, material, intellectual and other resources, which could be used in the sustainable development of society, are accumulated in the research of adverse phenomena, assessment of their impact, combating and prevention.

Nowadays sexual assault has become a major social issue in many contemporary cultures. Sexual violence is a complex interdisciplinary issue, which includes several aspects psychological, judicial, medical, and other aspects. Sexual crime is an urgent problem with a high level of latency, most part of such crimes are not reported in crime statistics. Particularly, sexual violence against children is a serious problem for Latvia and the world. At present, there is a sharp increase in such crimes as a human trafficking or commercial sexual exploitation; as well as the number of sexual crimes against boys is rising. Expansion of criminal activity in the cyberspace has also increased.

T... more In this article, the author analyzes the criminological aspects of profiling of cybercriminals. The development and trends of crime are affected by both the globalization process and the development of information technology. All over the world, crime, disorder and riots are causing more and more troubles and worries for people. Nowadays, cybercrime or criminal offenses committed in the Internet environment take a stable position in the overall mass of criminal offenses. Cyberspace is easy to use to harm an individual, a group of people, or a country as a whole. The role of profiling cybercriminals is determined by the tasks of law enforcement authorities. The profile of cybercriminal combines the personal traits of cybercriminal, behavioural patterns, and demographic data based on cybercrime characteristics.

In Latvia, this issue is not studied in great depth, thus deeper studies of the theoretical and practical issues related to female sex offenders are necessary. The study of sexual offenders is still a developing, growing, and ever-changing field of research.

The constituent elements of persecution are defined as a specific form of violence. The aim of the paper is to describe the constituent elements of persecution based on the theory and practice of criminal law. During the study, the author provides a framework of the criminal law theory and outlines the elements of the persecution. The object of the study is the criminal relations, which arise from the persecution of another person. The subject of the study is the criminal legal framework to be followed for the determination of criminal liability. The following legal interpretation methods and approaches have been used in the study: grammatical, systematic, teleological, and historical, as well as analytical method for analysing doctrine and practice of criminal law. Cu... more The spread of the criminal economy is the biggest problem in the global financial environment. Cuba, Venezuela, and Colombia are characterised by a fairly high level of economic crime. In these countries, criminal economic activity flourishes, which reduces the social development of states and spreads unemployment and poverty in their territories. That is why the issue of the criminal economy of Cuba, Venezuela, and Colombia and the specifics of the structure, intersection points, and assessment of the level of profitability in these countries is quite relevant. It is in these areas that the problem of developing the criminal economy is poorly regulated and along with criminal activities there is a problem of poverty and the presence of military conflicts. That is why the purpose of this study is to investigate and generalise aspects of the criminal economy of Cuba, Venezuela, and Colombia, and to determine the features of its structure, intersection points, and assessment of the level of profitability. Theoretical methods were used during the study-analysis and synthesis. In particular, it was determined that the intersection points of the criminal economies of Cuba, Venezuela, and Colombia are focused on the activities of the transnational criminal organisation National Liberation Army. It is established that the main structural elements of the criminal economy in cooperation in these countries are drug trafficking, fuel smuggling, illegal gold mining, prostitution, and human trafficking. The assessment of the level of profitability showed that the countries under study are disadvantageous, which is explained by the presence of a high level of criminal economy. Based on the results of the study, measures were developed and proposed to combat the criminal economy in relation to the intersection points in Cuba, Venezuela, and Colombia. In this context, the article aims to analyze the fact that, unlike other crimes, economic crimes may continue to increase in the coming years, adversely affecting economic, national and international security situations. Leading approach to the study of this problem is the descriptive method that has afforded revealing peculiarities of the criminal groups of an economic nature that accumulate large and hard-to-identify financial and material resources, and their activities are transnational in nature. The materials of the paper imply the practical significance for the university teachers of the legal specializations.

In addition to medical, political, economic, socio-psychological and other aspects it would be necessary to identify and study criminological aspects too. Relevant approach includes determining the origin of COVID-19, tendencies in the spread of the virus, interaction between epidemiological, economic and criminogenic processes, control systems of pandemic situations and resources, including law enforcement responses to the virus, and socio-economic and criminogenic consequences of COVID-19. The criminological approach in general includes the study of the causes and development of socially unfavourable phenomena, their determining factors, as well as the development of a methodology for improving preventive measures. Particular attention will be paid by the authors to these aspects in their study.

Descriptive, analytical, synthetic and modelling methods are used in the study. The authors analyze the international and national legal framework for the containment of COVID-19, as well as the results of particular studies in this field. The epidemiological, social, economic, legal and other effects of COVID-19 on modern society are comprehensive and possibly long lasting. The pandemic has affected all regions of the world. However, different countries and groups of countries are developing and implementing different COVID-19 management strategies and models to reduce negative impacts of it.
