Even telecontrol operators who have limited experience with computers were able to employ the system without any difficulties. Other advances made by taking advantage of the strongest features of embedded and multi-agent system technologies are also featured in this article. These developments have been tested in a true industrial environment. Positive results and feedback have been provided by the tests.

The Department of Electronic Technology in the University of Seville, together with ISIS Engineering, have developed an innovative embedded system that provides all needed functions for controlling and monitoring remote access control systems through a built-in web interface. The design provides a monolithic structure, independence from outer systems, easiness in management and maintenance, conformation to the highest standards in security, and straightforward adaptability to applications other than the original one. We have accomplished it by using an extremely reduced Linux kernel and developing web and purpose-specific logic under software technologies with an optimal resource use.

This study has allowed us to know that, in the case of electrical measurements, they quickly reach their maximum error value because of their age. Therefore, it is not necessary to send measurements to the control center at small intervals: it is possible to wait a given time without having a higher associated error. After getting these results, we have done an experimental study about electrical measurements, in which these measurements are sent to the control center only if they exceed a given percentage of the former measurement, what we call measurement tolerance. In this paper, it has been experimentally proved that this send-by-tolerance method significantly reduces the transmission channel load, so the system can benefit from this because the bandwidth can be reused by more remote units, as well as performance of the existing ones is improved.

It expresses the need for the utilization of an information system which may help companies in this sector make swifter purchases, sales and bids, study market trends, in addition to facilitating cost studies and forecasts for the distribution and regulation of energy. It presents software developed for that purpose and the experiences of companies of the sector.

The initial values of the model variables and parameters have been selected to a better fit of the Spanish economy present situation. Dynamic features have also been introduced to model the evolution in time of the magnitudes.
