The present study aims to analyze a specific characteristic of the QOLin urban areas -the public transportation system,which has a direct influence on the relationship between people satisfaction and sustainable quality of life.The purpose of this article is to offer a short review of the literature and to evaluate the existent situation, in order to outline anoverview of the way in that the public transportation system in Bucharest influences on different aspects the general quality of urban life.

The importance of public transportation networks implies the necessity of identifying potential r... more The importance of public transportation networks implies the necessity of identifying potential risks that could negatively influence the quality of the services. Public transport networks are very developed in Romania, 22% of the individuals using public transport daily, compared with an average of 16% in the European Union for 2017. The main objective of the current paper is to present some of the risks to which passengers are exposed along with the effects on the quality of transport services. Accordingly, the purpose of this article is to present an extensive research of the specialized literature in the field of risks in public transport systems. The key findings of this study is the fact that identifying the risks to which passengers are exposed should be one of the priorities for any public transport operator or public administration. All things considered, authorities should ensure a gradual increase in terms of effectiveness and efficiency for the public transport services.

Therefore, in order to accomplish this objective, the current study will evaluate public transport customer demands applying the Quality Function Deployment (QFD). Furthermore, the research aims to highlight user requirements and to evaluate an appropriate strategy to improve the current public transport services. Thus, for determining the users’ satisfaction, a survey with a sample of 175 respondents was carried out, and the outcomes of the survey were used as input data for defining the QFD method. The objective of this paper is to present the public bus transport users’ demands, as well as alternatives to improve the main weakness noticed in the bus transportation system.
