A comparative investigation on three novel bis(cyclopentadienyl) mono(b-diketonato) titanium(IV) ... more A comparative investigation on three novel bis(cyclopentadienyl) mono(b-diketonato) titanium(IV) complexes, [Cp 2 Ti IV (R 1 COCHCOR 2 )] + ClO 4 À (Cp = g 5 -C 5 H 5 ), i.e. [Cp 2 Ti(tfba)] + , [Cp 2 Ti(tfth)] + and [Cp 2 Ti(tfba)] + where tfba = CF 3 COCHCOC 6 H 5 À , tfth = CF 3 COCHCOC 4 H 3 S À and tffu = CF 3 COCHCOC 4 H 3 O À , has been performed based on structural data and DFT calculations. The preparation of [Cp 2 Ti IV (b-diketonato)] + ClO 4 À involves the reaction of Cp 2 TiCl 2 with AgClO 4 and the respective b-diketones. The crystal structures show that the structures are isomorphous. All the complexes exhibit p-stacking between one Cp ring and the aromatic R-group ring, i.e. the C 6 H 5 , C 4 H 3 S and C 4 H 3 O fragments, respectively. The DFT calculations show that the formal 16-electron count of these d 0 titanium(IV) complexes is increased via Ti O p bonding.

In the binuclear centrosymmetric title compound,[Ag2 (NCS) 2 (C21H21P) 4]. 0.35 H2O, a pseudo-pol... more In the binuclear centrosymmetric title compound,[Ag2 (NCS) 2 (C21H21P) 4]. 0.35 H2O, a pseudo-polymorph of [Ag2 (NCS) 2 (C21H21P) 4]. 2CH3CN, the Ag atom is coordinated by two phosphine ligands and two bridging thiocyanate ligands in a distorted tetrahedral configuration. The crystal structure exhibits intermolecular CH interactions.

The structures show the former to haVe an unusual nido eight-atom cluster shape with a low electron count and the latter to haVe the expected bicapped-octahedral geometry.

3,4,6-Tri-O-acetyl-D-galactal is selectively converted into 1-O-aryl-2-deoxy derivatives or chira... more 3,4,6-Tri-O-acetyl-D-galactal is selectively converted into 1-O-aryl-2-deoxy derivatives or chiral bridged benzopyrans under Al(OTf)3 catalysis, depending on reaction conditions. The benzopyrans react with Al(OTf)3/acetic anhydride in ring-opening reactions in the absence or presence of acetic acid to selectively produce chiral chromenes or chromans, respectively, in high yields.
