Dyslexia is a one types of Learning Disability which affects abilities in reading, spelling and writing. These issues increase motherhood experiences which subsequently give negative effects to mothers’ life such as physical health, psychological health and social relationship. However, those experiences are often found in literature from Western countries with other various conditions. To date, there is lack of literature regarding Malaysian mothers experience in raising children with dyslexia. Mothers who are having children with SpLD may have changes in their hopes since they may experien... more Mothers who are having children with SpLD may have changes in their hopes since they may experience many dramatic changes in life circumstances. A semi-structured interview was conducted to explore mother's hopes in providing care children with SpLD. The data was analysed using six stages of the interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). The finding revealed that two superordinate themes emerged: "I have faith…" and "I'm expecting…" relating to different perspectives of hopes. A positive hope facilitates positive influence among mothers in providing care children with SpLD. Later, it postulated a better quality of life amongst mother in having children with SpLD.

Active participation in exercise may help to improve physical and psychological functions for old... more Active participation in exercise may help to improve physical and psychological functions for older people. Regretfully, most of them do not engage in long term exercise due to several barriers. This puts them at high risk of may chronic illness that will limit their activities of daily living. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the behavioral and exercise program on cardio respiratory fitness among 63 community-dwelling olders. At the end of six months, there is a significant difference for cardio respiratory fitness and exercise engagement. Thus, improved their overall quality of life.

Elderly with Alzheimer's disease may experience various adverse effects on physical and psych... more Elderly with Alzheimer's disease may experience various adverse effects on physical and psychological functions, especially depression level. Effective intervention may reduce depressive symptoms. Therefore, the current study aims to investigate the effect of individualized reminiscence therapy on depression levels among the elderly with Alzheimer's disease. The findings revealed that individualized-reminiscence therapy significantly affects the elderly with Alzheimer's depression level. In conclusion, reminiscence was beneficial through stressful life changes, reduce depressive symptoms, improving life satisfaction and having a better quality of life among the elderly with Alzheimer's disease.Keywords: Alzheimer’s disease; Depression; Reminiscence therapyeISSN: 2514-7528 © 2020 The Authors. This study aims to identify the correlation between the coping mechanisms used and life satisfaction. The study found that the reframing (p = .018), acquiring social support (p =. 006)and seeking spiritual support (p = .041) have positive correlation while a passive appraisal (p =. 021), has negative correlation with the life satisfaction. Thus, the selected coping mechanisms used may influencecaregivers in having a good life satisfactionacross the life spansubsequently give a positive propensity upbringing childhood with Ld.

Imbalance and general weakness are amongst the most common impairments in the elderly and put the... more Imbalance and general weakness are amongst the most common impairments in the elderly and put them at a significantly higher risk of falling. Therefore, this study aims to compare the physical and cognitive functions towards fear of falls among 80 community-dwelling elders with and without diabetes mellitus. The results revealed that there was a decline in cognitive functions, reduced in physical function and high risk of falls among the elderly with diabetes. In conclusion, balance and resistance training need to be included in the daily exercise regime to reduce the risk of falls in the elderly, especially those with diabetes. This study aims to compare the physical performance (balance and lower limb strength) and fear of falls (FOF) among community-dwelling elderly with and without diabetes. Secondly, aims to evaluate the effect of diabetes and cognitive status on physical performance i.e; balance and lower limb strength with FOF. Total of 80 community-dwelling elderly enrolled in this study. Findings showed in FOF was statistically significantly lower in diabetic group compared to non-diabetic group and significantly effect of diabetes and cognitive status. The elderly with diabetes may have poor balance performance especially during dual tasking and involves cognitive task, thus increasing risk for falls

A semi-structured interview was conducted with ten mothers of children with dyslexia at the Dyslexia Association Malaysia (DAM) centre. Data were analysed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach. Two main themes emerged from the interview transcripts, i.e. “difficult yet enduring” and “self-perseverance” . The current study revealed challenges of mothers with dyslexic children, which could be addressed by health professionals. In addition, this study provides insights and a deeper understanding for health professionals to support mothers and families who have children with dyslexia.

Social support helps prevent and decrease the stressful situation of the family's experience ... more Social support helps prevent and decrease the stressful situation of the family's experience in providing care to children with cerebral palsy. Thus, this study aims to determine the significant relationship between social support and the level of stress among parents of children with cerebral palsy. The study revealed that the majority of the parents with cerebral palsy children who had high stress levels had perceived low social support. Therefore, this study may provide a guideline to the health professional to deliver support to assist the best adaptation in facing the issues.
