Clotrimazole is an antifungal drug that has side effects along with its therapeutic properties. For this reason, a large percentage of women tend to use natural herbal treatments. Artemisia is an anti-fungal activity. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the effect of Artemisia vulgaris and Clotrimazole on vaginal candida infection on non pregnant women in fertility ages. Methods: This study is a triple blind clinical trial performed on 72 non-pregnant women in Mashhad in 2016-2017 years. The research units were divided into two groups (receiving Artemisia Vaginal Cream and receiving Clotrimazole Vaginal Cream). After confirmation of candidacy and having consent for participation, by random allocation and treated for seven nights. After the treatment, the data was analyzed using SPSS software (version 24). Results: After treatment, the score for candidate vaginal symptoms was not significant in Artemisia and Clotrimazole group based on Mann-Whitney test (P = 0.518). The Wilcoxon test showed a significant reduction in the symptoms of vaginal candida infection before and after treatment in both groups of Artemisia (P <0.001) and clotrimazole (P <0.001). Conclusion: Due to the similar effects of Artemisia and Cholitrimazole, Artemisia can be used as an alternative treatment for vaginal candidiasis due to less side effects.

In a non- cooperative environment such as satellite signal in which receiver is not aware of the structure of transmitter, interleaver should be identified, otherwise it would be impossible to identify the residual components and completing the hearing process. Detection power of detectors has been studied in homogeneous and non-homogeneous environment (presence of interference targets) through MATLAB simulation software. The k-distribution proved to be the best option to display distribution of sea clutter, while k-distribution was assumed for sea clutter in simulation. On the other hand, CA-CFAR detector performed best in homogeneous conditions, and also the Ex-CFAR detector was suggested to improve the resistance of CA-CFAR detector against the interfering targets. The proposed detector performance was compared with these two detectors and with the ideal detector acquired from Marcum and Swerling equations, in homogeneous and non-homogeneous environment. Performance of the detectors in the presence of sharp clutter (which represents the fast clutter that make most difficult for CFAR detectors) and broad clutter (which represents th...

The experimental approach was conducted on a considerable number of Iranian crude samples using a Rolling Ball viscometer. Accordingly, more than 1000 experimental points were gained. These latter were utilized as a databank in the modeling approach which included many advanced soft computing techniques, namely radial basis function (RBF) neural network, multilayer perceptron (MLP), support vector regression (SVR), adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), decision trees (DTs) and random forest (RF). When performing the modeling tasks using these techniques, two distinct cases were considered: the first includes all available parameters as inputs such as pressure, temperature, API°, Mw of C12+ and the mole fractions till C11; whereas in the second case, a grouping scheme was considered to reduce the number of fractions. The obtained results revealed that DTs for the first case is the best implemented model with an overall average absolute relative deviation (AARD) of 3.379%. In addition, the comparison results with the preexisting approaches showed the superiority of the newly proposed model.

Viscosity is one of the most important physical properties in reservoir simulation, formation eva... more Viscosity is one of the most important physical properties in reservoir simulation, formation evaluation, in designing surface facilities and in the calculation of original hydrocarbon in-place. Mostly, oil viscosity is measured in PVT laboratories only at reservoir temperature. Hence, it is of great importance to use an accurate correlation for prediction of oil viscosity at different operating conditions and various temperatures. Although, different correlations have been proposed for various regions, the applicability of the existing correlations for Iranian oil reservoirs is limited due to the nature of the Iranian crude oil. In this study, based on Iranian oil reservoir data, a new correlation for the estimation of dead oil viscosity was provided using non-linear multivariable regression and non-linear optimization methods simultaneously with the optimization of the other existing correlations. This new correlation uses API Gravity and temperature as an input parameter. In addition, a neural-network-based model for prediction of dead oil viscosity is presented. Detailed comparisons show that validity and accuracy of the new correlation and the neural-network model are in good agreement with large data set of Iranian oil reservoir when compared with other correlations.

IL containing trihydrogen diphosphate anion, was synthesized for the first time. Physicochemical properties, including density, viscosity, surface tension, refractive index, and pH, were measured in temperature range 283.15 to 363.15 K and atmospheric pressure. The effects of temperature, alkyl chain, and anion type on physicochemical properties were investigated. The results revealed that the physicochemical properties decreased as a function of temperature. Unlike viscosity, other properties, such as density, surface tension, refractive index and pH values, decreased, while alkyl chain length increased. Understanding ILs properties and determining their unique abilities helps researchers to use them in new applications. These long alkyl chain ILs, are being used as surfactants to reduce Oil/Water interfacial tension in EOR process.

Water injection might give a negative result due to scale formation and inducing damage in porous media. The compatibility study of mixed waters should be done before deciding about the water injection in reservoir. The time required for the mixture of incompatible waters to reach the maximum potential of scale at desired condition of temperature and pressure is not fully discussed in literature but it is very crucial and is highly dependent to crystallization process. This work may be proved to be of great value in understanding the crystallization process of calcium sulfate due to mixing of formation and injection waters by experimental approach. To simulate the effect of fluid velocity in porous media on the amount of precipitated scale, the experiments are done at two condition of not agitated as well as agitated one. Three zones at which primary nucleation, crystal growth or secondary nucleation controls the scale precipitation has been determined by measuring the amount of scale at different times. The results show that agitation and increasing temperature altogether have an important role on crystallization and reduction of the reaction time required to get the final potential of produced scale. The changes in crystal size and the type of precipitated scale due to temperature increase and agitation were also studied by SEM and EDX altogether at different time duration. Determination of the required velocity of injection in dynamic tests, kinetic of crystallization happening and the change in crystal size of calcium sulfate at different time duration are some of the applications of the results of this work.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic value of CT scan in pelvic masses in comparison with physical examination-ultrasound based on pathology of the lesion in patients undergoing laparotomic surgery. This analytic-descriptive study focused on age, sonographic findings, physical examinations, CT scan and pathological findings in 139 patients with pelvic mass, gathered with questionnaires and statistically analayzed using the SPSS software programme. Of 139 patients with pelvic mass (patients aged from 17 to 75 years old), 62 (44%) cases were diagnosed as benign and 77 (55.4%) as malignant; among them malignant tratoma serocyst adenocarsinoma with 33 (23.7%) cases and benign myoma with 21 (15.2%) cases comprised the most frequent cases. The sensitivity and specificity of sonography-physical examination were 51.9% and 87.9% respectively and the sensitivity and specificity of CT scan images were 79.2% and 91.6% respectively. It was shown that CT scan images were more consistant with pathological findings in predicting appropriate surgical procedures than do sonography-physical examinations. The sensitivity of CT scan is far higher than that of sonography-physical examination in the diagnosis of pelvic mass malignancy.

In this study, during an experimental miscible gas injection project for one of the Iranian oil fields, natural liquefied gas (NGL) and Naphtha were selected to enrich injecting gas in order to study the gas composition impact on efficiency of miscibility process. Therefore, injecting gas was enriched by recombining with NGL and Naphtha samples with predefined ratios. Afterward, an axisymmetric drop shape analysis (ADSA) was utilized to measure interfacial tension between reservoir oil and five synthesized gas samples at depletion pressure steps and constant reservoir temperature. The results showed the optimum miscible gas enrichment scenario with minimum interfacial tension at depletion pressure steps. Additionally, recombining injecting gas sample with NGL led to reduce interfacial tension more effectively than recombined samples with Naphtha. The results of this study are helpful for successful design of gas injection scenarios in this filed, and reveal the role of gas composition in the IFT behavior of crude oil systems.

However, its prognostic role for EC is controversial. The purpose of our study was to characterize the prognostic value of tumor length in EC patients and offer the optimum cut-off point of tumor length by reliable statistical methods. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 71 consecutive patients with EC who underwent surgery. ROC curve analysis was used to determine the optimal cut-off point for tumor length, measured with a handheld ruler after formalin fixation. Correlations between tumor length and other factors were surveyed, and overall survival (OS) rates were compared between the two groups. Potential prognostic factors were evaluated by univariate Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. A P value less than 0.05 was considered significant. There were a total of 71 patients, with a male/ female divide of 43/28 and a median age of 59. Characteristics were as follows: squamous/adenocarcinoma...

Si... more Falls are a major health hazard for the elderly and a serious obstacle for independent living. Since falling causes dramatic physical-psychological consequences, development of intelligent video surveillance systems is so important due to providing safe environments. To this end, this paper proposes a novel approach for human fall detection based on combination of integrated time motion images and eigenspace technique. Integrated Time Motion Image (ITMI) is a type of spatio-temporal database that includes motion and time of motion occurrence. Applying eigenspace technique to ITMIs leads in extracting eigen-motion and finally multi-class Support Vector Machine is used for precise classification of motions and determination of a fall event. Unlike existent fall detection systems that only deal with limited movement patterns, we considered wide range of motions consisting of normal daily life activities, abnormal behaviors and also unusual events. Reliable recognition rate of experimental results underlines satisfactory performance of our system.

On univariate analysis, relations with age at diagnosis (p=0.015), N-stage (p=0.04), total dose of RT (p=0.001), fraction (p<0.001), Gap status (p=0.025), chemotherapeutic regimens (P=0.027), and 5-Fu Mg/m2 (P=0.004) were apparent. Comparing DCRT to DRT, there was a...

Urtica dioica L (U.dioica) is a multipurpose herb in traditional medicine for which some anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory properties have been identified. The main goal is to investigate whether the U.dioica could inhibit nicotine adverse effects on sperm cells viability, count, motility, and testis histology and testosterone hormone. In this study, hydro-alcoholic extract of U.dioica was prepared and various doses of U.dioica (0, 10, 20, and 50 mg/kg) and U.dioica plus nicotine (0, 10, 20, and 50 mg/kg) were administered intraperitoneally to 56 male mice for 28 consequent days. These mice were randomly assigned to 8 groups (n=7) and sperm parameters (sperm cells viability, count, motility, and morphology), testis and prostate weight, testis histology and testosterone hormone were analyzed and compared. The results indicated that nicotine administration (0.5 mg/kg) significant...

Si... more Falls are a major health hazard for the elderly and a serious obstacle for independent living.
