Methods: Adopting a qualitative approach, this study gave voice to seven adoption applicants who began the adoption journey with one or more children but did not complete the legal process. Our goal was to understand their experiences throughout the adoption process and disruption. Results: The results show how adoption applicants went, in a short period, from the excitement of finding a child or sibling group to disillusionment and trauma. The main risk factors that hinder adoption stability include unrealistic expectations, intuitive choice of the child in the absence of accurate information, challenges posed by the child's particular characteristics, and lack of professional support. Discussion: Our study highlights the need for adopters to be assisted throughout the entire process by specialists, to be better prepared to deal with the complex needs of children in the protection system, and to facilitate their access to a complex of specialized services to meet the different needs of every family.

The first part discusses the benefits and the drawbacks of the online environment, then it presents some of the most important aspects of speaking, and in the end, it focuses on the challenges of online teaching while trying to enhance students’ speaking skills. To this effect, different methods are consistently used, with clear and adapted learning objectives. The current paper is based on analyses of teaching situations and practices based on the scaffolding method. It discusses strategies used by teachers to improve students’ speaking and writing skills by positioning the concept of scaffolding at the heart of the reflection. Scaffolding, which, basically, involves breaking down large tasks into smaller steps, represents an efficient tool to monitor and guide students to gradually build a linguistic autonomy, and to communicate in writing or orally with little or no help from the teacher.

Languages apprenticeship is long, tedious, but rewarding. Worldwide, 60-75% of the population speaks at least two languages. To be monolingual is to be part of a minority. For the new generations of military leaders, speaking several languages is a huge advantage, socially, professionally and neurologically. After briefly reviewing some scientific data on the advantages of the bilingual brain, the paper discusses how bilingualism positively affects their cognitive development as future Army leaders. Indeed, the obligation to juggle between two languages, the mother tongue and the language learned, offers bilingual people better control of the executive functions of their brain. In other words, the faculties of attention, memory, reasoning developed by learning the language are reinforced. This is an advantage for the military leader, who can thus process each piece ...

These standards and rules have become an integral part of and have shaped the identity of the individuals they have influenced. Since birth men and women are treated differently and are expected to differentiate themselves by means of the clothes they wear, by means of the jobs they choose, by means of the manner in which they use the language.“Starting with the clothes we wear, the spaces we occupy, the jobs we do, and the languages we speak, everything is gendered. Empirical findings show that learning styles are neither innate nor unchangeable. On the contrary, students themselves adapt their learning behaviour to the task at hand and aim at trying out different learning styles using their creativity. Therefore, teachers have to plan and propose activities that invite their students to recur to a number of learning strategies. The aim of this paper is to emphasize the importance of the students’ creativity in foreign language acquisition.

Nowadays, the role of the teacher is no longer to offer models to be learnt or descriptions of the foreign language, but mostly to create a climate in the classroom that will enable students to learn by getting involved in activities and working on tasks. Moreover, it is no longer expected that the teacher dominates the whole work in the classroom. Their role is to set up activities and conditions that will enable students to use the foreign language as they have a great interest in the outcome of the tasks. Therefore, the teacher’s success is closely related to their ability to stimulate the students’ interests.

The issue in question breeds discussions on morality, since the future of the testees depends on the facts of examination and of the factually proved objectivity. Evaluation is therefore a pedagogical concept that transcends the definition of measure and the appreciation of the students’ performance. It refers to the process of determining and assessing learning outcomes by revealing the contribution of each resource in the teaching-learning process. The purpose of this paper is to point out some of the major elements of the evaluation process in the context of enhancing the quality of the educational act.

The activities that we propose apply to all levels of the students and can be adapted to different grammatical structures and vocabulary according to the target students. We undertook research on freewriting in a foreign language class in sophomore cadet groups. At the center of this research, there are students’ products (free texts) and methods used in carrying out the writing activity (writing strategies and solutions for linguistic problems). Since writing has always been a difficult skill and an unpleasant task for most of the students, with this new approach they have found a way of enjoying their own pieces of writing.

The new approaches to language teaching place a great emphasis on developing learners’ communicative competency. Besides the professional skills, essential to a successful career, individuals also need to acquire the communicative competency, which is equally important as it includes various other competencies, such as: linguistic, social, socio-cultural, or strategic competences in order to communicate and interact with each other. Our paper aims at discussing the different ways and methods teachers can use in the language classroom to build and enhance students’ social and strategic competencies.

The first section of the paper offers some basic definitions of culture and key terms associated with it. The next part of the paper brings into discussion the relationship between culture and language acquisition. There is an intimate connection between language and culture; not only language is comprised in the definition of culture, but it also reflects culture, thus we cannot separate language teaching from culture. The final part of the paper focuses on the military students as future leaders that need to develop cross-cultural communication skills and be aware of the cultural differences in order to avoid potential failures during communication with soldiers from foreign militaries in theatres of operation or on other international missions that they are assigned.
