Carr. from Canada were investigated by head space solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Thirty-three, thirty and thirty-one components were identified representing 95.78%, 93.89%, 96.14% of the oil, respectively. Limonene (26.12%), benzene (15.62%), -mrycene (9.08%) and -pinene (7.30%) were found to be the main constituents of J. communis; 1-propanone (36.38%), morpholine (10.95%), methylamine (9.10%) and methanone (8.14%) were detected main components of Taxus canadensis; bornylacetate (26.84%), -pinene (23.74%), camphene (11.93%) and limonene (6.02%) were determined as major constituents of Tsuga canadensis. The chemical distributions of the essential oil compounds in the genus pattern were discussed in means of chemotaxonomy and natural products.

The chemical composition of the essential oils of dried aerial parts of Tanacetum balsamita subsp... more The chemical composition of the essential oils of dried aerial parts of Tanacetum balsamita subsp. balsamita and T. chiliophyllum var. chiliophyllum were analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Forty five and forty six components were identified representing 81.0 % and 84.4 % of the oils, respectively. Trans-chrysanthenol (22.3 %), chrysanthenyl acetate (19.7 %), linalool oxide (11.5 %), camphor (7.5 %), 1,8-cineole (2.7 %) were found to be major components in T. balsamita subsp. balsamita and camphor (28.5 %), 1,8-cineole (17.1 %), camphene (7.1 %), isobornyl propionate (5.4 %), carveol (4.5 %) and borneol (3.5 %) were also found as major constituents in T. chiliophyllum var. chiliophyllum. In vitro antimicrobial activities of these oils and two antibiotics against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and two yeasts were also investigated. The results exhibited that the total oils and antibiotics possess moderate activities against all the tested microorganisms.

The aerial parts of Salvia kronenburgii Rech. fil were hydro-distilled to produce the oil in the yields of 0.7 v/w. The chemical composition of the essential oil of dried aerial parts of S. kronenburgii was analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Fifty four components were identified representing 87.08 % of the oil. Limonene (11.77 %), 2-cyclohexen-1-ol (9.25 %), trans-verbenol (7.70 %) and trans-(+)-carveol (6.77 %) were found to be major components in S. kronenburgii. The distribution of the essential oil constituents was discussed in Salvia genus patterns.

Soil seed stocks changed depending on management strategies efforts and some environmental factors in rangeland sites. Knowledge about soil seed banks and vegetation in these ecosystems was crucial for guiding the restoration efforts. This

Molecular phylogeny and systematic status of some Tanacetum taxa from Turkey has been carried out. T. heterotomum (endemic), T. cadmeum subsp. orientale (endemic), T. cappadocicum, and T. eginense have not been included in any molecular phylogenetic analysis yet. To determine the phylogenetic relationships and taxonomic status of Tanacetum L. taxa we analysed internal transcribed spacer (ITS) from nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA) and trnL (UAA) intron, intergenic spacer between the trnL (UAA) 3 exon and trnF (GAA) from chloroplast DNA (cpDNA). According to the phylogenetic trees two main clades were formed. First clade included T. eginense, T. cadmeum subsp. orientale and T. cappadocicum, the other clade included T. heterotomum according to the data based ...
