Methods A quasi-experimental design was used to examine 60 stroke patients who were randomly and alternatively divided equally into a study group and a control group. Gugging Swallowing Screen (GUSS) and fluid balance chart were used. Within the first 24 h of a patient’s admission, expert nurses were trained in nursing intervention protocol to manage dysphagia and daily oral fluids. Results Post-nursing intervention, the severity of dysphagia decreased among the study group more than in the control group. Additionally, the study group began taking greater amounts of fluids by the oral route than before the nursing intervention. Conclusions A standardized nursing intervention protocol is needed to decrease the severity of dysphagia after CVS and increase the amount of dai...

The present study aimed to evaluate improvement of dyspnea and activity levels after 1 week of applying a mobile health nursing protocol for positive COVID-19 patients. The study was conducted in quarantine hospitals in Cairo on 90 COVID-19-positive patients who agreed to participate in the study, were fully conscious, were themselves able to use mobile phone applications (or their accompanying relatives were), and were not in need of artificial ventilation. A self-administered online questionnaire was utilized via Google forms to collect data. Patients who agreed to participate in the study received a video on their WhatsApp application containing audio and visual explanations of how they would apply the nursing intervention protocol. The study's findings showed that the best level of dyspnea was only 10.59% of the sample prior to applying the nursing protocol and increased to 20.00% of the sample after applying the nursing protocol. Also, the highest level of activity was only 50.59% pre-protocol and increased post-protocol to become 70.59%.

This descriptive, longitudinal study aimed to assess nursing students' attitudes toward learning communication skills, perceived importance of nursing communication, and caring efficacy. A self-administered questionnaire was used with a convenience sample to collect data from nursing students and nurse interns. No significant differences over time were found for students' attitudes toward learning communication skills or perceived importance of communication; interns reported higher scores for caring efficacy. Nursing students need to be strong communicators in clinical practice to deal with patients' needs, anxieties, and concerns. KEY WORDS Caring Efficacy-Communication Skills-Nursing Students-Role-play C ommunication in health care is defined as a process by which information is exchanged and shared during interventions (Hannawa, García-Jiménez, Candrian, Rossmann, & Schulz, 2015; Manojlovich, Squires, Davies, & Graham, 2015). Communication skills include sensitivity regarding verbal and nonverbal messages as well as listening and responding skills (Bodie, Vickery, Cannava, & Jones, 2015; Oliveira et al., 2015). Communication can negatively or positively affect nursing care. Failing to communicate relevant patient information to physicians is a primary cause of sentinel events (Henriksen et al., 2008). Both patients and providers experience improved satisfaction and quality of care when the communication skills of providers improve (Shankar, Dubey, Balasubramanium, & Dwivedi, 2013). The purpose of this study was to assess nursing students' attitudes toward learning communication skills and how they perceived the importance of nursing communication and caring efficacy over time. Students participated in the study three times: before and after a course on communication and after one semester. Nurse interns, who took the course during their nursing education, completed the questionnaire one time only. This study assessed the relationship between nursing informatics and patient safety competencies among undergraduate nursing students and interns. LITERATURE REVIEW Nursing Informatics Competencies ''Informatics competencies'' is defined as the incorporation of knowledge, skills, and attitudes into the practice of different nursing informatics activities according to the students' level of experience in nursing. 17 There is a shortage of studies to date that have investigated undergraduate and new graduate nursing students' informatics competencies.

Students are affected by different kinds of stressors such as the pressure to achieve academically. It is important for students to develop coping strategies in order to succeed. The aims of this study are assessing nursing students' perceived level of university coursework stress and their coping strategies, describing the difference between male and female nursing students in that respect, and identifying coping strategies that can predict coursework stress levels. A descriptive, predictive study was conducted utilizing a sample of 96 nursing students. The participants were asked to fill a self-administered questionnaire about coping strategies. The conclusion of this study is that nursing students have moderate stress levels related to their academic coursework. Problem-solving strategies have the highest mean of the eight subscales; however, wishful thinking and tension reduction were the only significant coping mechanisms that worked as predictors of coursework stress.

Objective: We undertook this research to assess students' evaluation as one component in the evaluation of faculty teaching effectiveness as well as to assess the reliability and validity of the evaluation instrument. Methods: The current study used a descriptive design with a convenient sample of 20 students from Steam I (graduate entry from high school, four years nursing program) and 32 students from Stream II (graduate entry from college of science, three years Nursing Accelerated Program) in the new Nursing College which was established at 2008/2009 to fill a faculty evaluation sheet adapted from Wong & Fitzsimmons [1]. Data was collected in the academic year of 2009/2010. The pilot study was done to assess the feasibility and the effectiveness of the instrument in different cultures and populations. Results: The study's results revealed that students evaluated the faculty effectiveness of teaching for 13 faculty members. Students rated faculty personal attributes, learner facilitation and quality of feedback (Mean of 4.34 ±1, 4.25 ±1, and 4.29 ± 1.05 respectively). Reliability statistics; Cronbach's Alpha; were (.93, .97, and .95) respectively for each category. Factor analysis indicated that each subscale items loaded in one factor with more than .70 exceeded the recommended criterion. Correlation analysis indicated that the three subscales are significantly correlated (correlation ranged from .86-.92, p =.01). Conclusion: Teaching and learning are contextual by nature, with different methods of teaching showing advantage for different outcomes and different students. Given the variety of student characteristics, student faculty evaluation objectives, teaching methods, and institutional contexts must be considered when developing the evaluation process.
