The surface was further evaluated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and contact angle measurements. Quantum chemical calculations have been used to evaluate the structural, electronic and reactivity parameters of the inhibitor on the steels surface. SEM, XRD and contact angle measurement studies reveal that the surface of metals are quite unaffected after use of inhibitor in 3.5% NaCl solution saturated with CO2.

The Nyquist diagrams showed increase in Rct values in the presence of inhibitor, thus increasing inhibition efficiency. Potentiodynamic curves suggested that the inhibitor is mixed type in nature. The adsorbed film on J55 and P110SS steel surface containing inhibitor was confirmed by the SEM results. Keywords: Momordica charantia, P110SS steel, J55 steel, SEM

The inhibition behavior of Momordica charantia seeds (MCS) as an eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor... more The inhibition behavior of Momordica charantia seeds (MCS) as an eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor for P110SS steel was investigated in 3.5 wt.% NaCl saturated with CO 2 solution by means of polarization curve, AC impedance, and scanning electrochemical spectroscopy (SECM). The results showed that MCS can inhibit the corrosion of P110SS steel. The maximum inhibition efficiency is achieved when MCS concentration is 1000 ppm by weight in this study. The adsorption of the studied inhibitor obeyed the Langmuir's adsorption isotherm.

Among the compounds investigated, ABDN-3 exhibited the best inhibition efficiency of 97.83% at 100 mg/L. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) examinations was performed on inhibited and uninhibited mild steel samples to show the presence of ABDNs on mild steel surface. The potentiodynamic polarization studies reveal that all three studied inhibitors were of mixed type and their adsorption on the mild steel surface in 1 M HCl follows the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Quantum chemical calculations studied were also performed to support weight loss and electrochemical experimental observations.

Inhibition efficiency was found to increase with increasing concentration of the extract. The adsorption of the extract on the J55 steel surface obeyed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The adsorbed film on J55 steel surface containing inhibitor was confirmed by the contact angle, and SEM results. The results obtained showed that the GFE could serve as an effective inhibitor of the corrosion of J55 steel in 3.5% NaCl saturated with CO2.

Results obtained showed that polymer is a mixed type inhibitor as the maximum-E corr displacement is 58 mV. The adsorption of the extract on the J55 steel surface obeyed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. SEM and UV-visible spectroscopy studies reveal that the surface of metal is quite unaffected after the use of P(MMA-co-VP) in 3.5% NaCl solution saturated with CO 2 .

The inhibition of the corrosion of mild steel in hydrochloric acid solution by the seed extract o... more The inhibition of the corrosion of mild steel in hydrochloric acid solution by the seed extract of Kuchla (Strychnos Nuxvomica) has been studied using weight loss, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, potentiodynamic polarization and linear polarization techniques. Inhibition was found to increase with increasing concentration of the extract. The effect of temperature, immersion time and acid concentration on the corrosion behavior of mild steel in 1 M HCl with addition of extract was also studied. The adsorption of the extract on the mild steel surface obeyed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Values of inhibition efficiency calculated from weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) are in good agreement. Polarization curves showed that Kuchla (Strychnos Nuxvomica) seed extract behaves as a mixed-type inhibitor in hydrochloric acid. The activation energy as well as other thermodynamic parameters for the inhibition process was calculated. The adsorbed film on mild steel surface containing Kuchla (Strychnos Nuxvomica) seed extract inhibitor was also measured by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results obtained showed that the seed extract of Kuchla (Strychnos Nuxvomica) could serve as an effective inhibitor of the corrosion of mild steel in hydrochloric acid media.

Experimental results revealed that inhibition efficiency increases with increasing inhibitor concentration and reached at maximum 94% at 500 ppm inhibitor concentration. Adsorption of inhibitor molecules on the surface of aluminium followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. Tafel polarization analyses indicated that studied compound is mixed type inhibitor. The data obtained from polarization method and weight loss methods were in good agreement. The Azwain (Trachyspermum copticum) seed extract is environmental friendly, biodegradable, nontoxic, cheap and easily available source of material which is used as corrosion inhibitor for aluminium metal in 0.5 M NaOH.

Results obtained revealed that inhibition occurs through adsorption of the drug on metal surface without modifying the mechanism of corrosion process. Potentiodynamic polarization suggested that it acts as a mixed type predominantly cathodic in HCl and predominantly anodic in H 2 SO 4 . Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was used to investigate the mechanism of corrosion inhibition. Thermodynamic parameters such as a E ,°a H , °a S , °a ds H were calculated to investigate mechanism of inhibition. The adsorption of dapsone followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm.

Mechanism of inhibition was further corroborated by the values of activation parameters obtained from the experimental data. Optical microscopy was used to characterize the metal surface before and after adsorption of inhibitor.
