Semen samples from six mature Awassi rams were used in this study. The semen samples were diluted by Tris-glucoseegg yolk. Diluted semen sample was divided into three parts. The first part was added with 0.9 mg mL-1 vitamin C, the second part was added with 1 mg mL-1 vitamin E and the third part was considered as a control without any addition. The diluted semen samples were cooled gradually and preserved at 5 ˚C for five days. Sperms in cooled diluted semen samples were examined for motility, vitality, abnormalities and acrosomal defects every 24 hr for five days. Results of the present study showed an increase in the viability of spermatozoa diluted in the Tris diluent containing vitamins C or E stored at 5 ˚C for 120 hr compared with the control group. There were significant (p < 0.05) effects of vitamins C and E addition to semen diluents on sperm motility as well as the sperm viability in different times of preservation at 5 ˚C. Significant (p < 0.05) higher sperm abnormalities and acrosomal defects values (37.6 ± 1.3% and 71.5 ± 1.1%, respectively) were found after 120 hr incubation in Tris free vitamin C (Control) at 5 ˚C compared with those of containing vitamin C (18.8 ± 1.8% and 52.8 ± 4.3%, respectively). From the results of the present study, it could be concluded, that the addition of antioxidants such as vitamins C and vitamin E to semen preservation media could improve longevity and quality of cooled sperm in Awassi ram semen.

It provides an opportunity for patients to have more than one attempt following an ovarian stimulation cycle, thereby decreasing the exposure of patients to exogenous gonadotrophins. Vitrification is a cryopreservation technique that leads to a glass-like solidification. Oocyte, zygote, embryo and blastocyst freezing by vitrification method for cryopreservation have been used for many years beside sperms preservation. Moreover, the use of vitrification technology for ovarian tissue cryopreservation to freeze eggs offers such an elderly women who sometime find more difficulty in conceiving or in maintaining pregnancy till full term because of old age compared to relatively younger women who might get better chances to get a healthy pregnancy. Furthermore, vitrification helps cancer patients who are looking to preserve their fertility later on after completing their treatment.

Chemotherapy with vincristine, doxorubicin, etoposide, prednisolone, and pentostatin was performed for 6 months after the operation. Since the completion of that chemotherapy, no further chemotherapy has been performed, and the patient was doing well without any sign of recurrence as of April 1998. Comment Surgical treatment of cardiac malignant lymphoma, both primary and metastatic, usually does not obtain satisfactory results [1, 2]. The occurrence of a tumor (whether malignant or benign) in the left ventricular outflow is rare. Malignant lymphoma is sometimes accompanied by acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or occurs after heart transplantation [3, 4]. Adult T cell leukemialymphoma is also sometimes accompanied by malignant lymphoma or lymphoma. The present patient was positive for anti-human T lymphotrophic virus-1 antibody, although symptomatic ATL had not developed, suggesting a relationship between ATL and the occurrence of malignant lymphoma [5]. Although the tumor was partially connected with the base of the left coronary cusp of the aortic valve, the border between the tumor and aortic valve was relatively clear. Because ATL is often accompanied by a hemorrhagic tendency, we avoided valve replacement in this patient. Although the results of chemotherapy for malignant lymphoma are improving, patients still sometimes die of infectious complications before complete remission. We experienced a patient with cardiac primary malignant lymphoma who died of pneumonia when the lymphoma was almost cured [6]. In the present case, the patient's young age, good response to chemotherapy, and the fact that ATL had not yet appeared even though the patient was positive for antihuman T lymphotropic virus-1 antibody may be the reasons for the very long survival period.

Repetitive ejaculates were separately collected, analyzed, and frozen from the sires. Progressive motility of frozen-thawed semen (PMFT) was considered the main factor for more data classification into three following groups: <40.00%, 40.00 - 50.00%, and >50.00%. Seminal plasma trace elements and enzymes were determined using atomic absorption spectrometry and ELISA, respectively. The results revealed significant differences between the first and second ejaculations. Semen concentration, SOD, GPx, and Fe were different in ejaculations. Although PMFT groups in different ejaculations did not show significant differences, there was significant alteration between different PMFT groups and first an...

The phase of the estrous cycle was determined by the examination of the ovaries and the uterine tonicity. Of the 46 samples selected for use in the study, 13 were pro-estrus, 10 estrus, 8 metestrus, and 15 diestrus. The uterus was incised and uterine fluid was collected by gentle scraping of the uterine mucosa with a curette. The total mean (± SEM) Cu concentrations in serum and uterine fluid samples, determined by spectrophotometry, were 66.1± 6.5 and 171.3 ± 33.2µg dL-1 respectively, which were significantly different, while total mean serum and uterine fluid Zn concentrations were 91.9 ± 5.4 and 291.6 ± 23.4 µg dL-1, which also showed a significant difference. The mean serum Cu values in different phases of the estrous cycle were not significantly different, while uterine fluid Cu conten...

The phase of the estrous cycle was determined by examining ovarian structures. 18 animals were pro-estrous, 15 estrous, 16 met-estrous and 22 diestrous. The uterine fluid was collected by gentle scraping of the uterine mucosa with a curette. Blood serum and uterine fluid samples of 71 pre-pubertal buffalo calves were also collected and treated in similar manners. The mean ± SEM total serum and uterine fluid Ca in cyclic buffaloes were 8.68 ± 0.28 mg dL-1 and 8.10 ± 0.2 mg dL-1 vs. 6.76 ± 0.65 mg dL-1 and 7.90 ± 0.15 mg dL-1 in pre-pubertal calves, respectively. Blood serum Mg was not different in cyclic and pre-pubertal animals but the uterine fluid Mg in cyclic cows was higher than those in pre-pubertal calves. Serum Ca in pro-estrus and estrus were higher than those in other stag...
