In this aspect, the cost-effective and scalable processing of such yarns is highly important. Stainless-steel staple fibres are relatively heavier and weaker compared to conventional textile fibres. As a result, the staple spinning processing of these fibres showing higher tensile strength and productivity both at the same time is quite challenging. In this manuscript, we explored a number of spinning techniques to find the optimised method of producing low-twist and high-strength stainless-steel fibre hybrid spun yarns offering the advantage of both quality and productivity. Conventional ring spinning, folding and twisting, and advanced ring spinning techniques (ARSTs) such as pneumatic compact ring spinning and pneumatic compact SIRO spinning were employed in this study. Additionally, the plain and SIRO yarns were produced in two forms using the compact spinning metho...

Table olives are becoming well recognized as a source of probiotic bacteria that might be used to create a health-promoting fermented food product by traditional procedures based on the activities of indigenous microbial consortia present in local environments. Methodology. In the present study, the characterization of probiotic bacteria isolated from mince, chunks, and brine of fermented green and black olives (Olea europaea) was done based on morphological, biochemical, and physiological characteristics. Results. Bacterial isolates demonstrated excellent survival abilities at 25, 37, and 45°C and at a variable range of pH. However, the optimum temperature is 37 and the optimum pH is 7 for all three isolates. An antimicrobial susceptibility pattern was found among these isolates through the disc diffusion method. Most of the isolates were susceptible to streptomycin, imipenem, and chloramphenicol, whereas, amoxicillin showed resistance to these isolates, and variable re...

The use of information–theoretical methodologies to assess graph-based systems has received a sig... more The use of information–theoretical methodologies to assess graph-based systems has received a significant amount of attention. Evaluating a graph’s structural information content is a classic issue in fields such as cybernetics, pattern recognition, mathematical chemistry, and computational physics. Therefore, conventional methods for determining a graph’s structural information content rely heavily on determining a specific partitioning of the vertex set to obtain a probability distribution. A network’s entropy based on such a probability distribution is obtained from vertex partitioning. These entropies produce the numeric information about complexity and information processing which, as a consequence, increases the understanding of the network. In this paper, we study the Benes network and its novel-derived classes via different entropy measures, which are based on information functionals. We construct different partitions of vertices of the Benes network and its novel-derived cl...

To reduce the risk due to pilot error, autonomous landing systems can be used. Environmental disturbances such as wind shear can jeopardize safe landing, therefore a well-adjusted and robust control system is required to maintain the performance requirements during landing. The paper proposes a loop-shaping-based Model Predictive Control (MPC) approach for autonomous UAV landings. Instead of conventional MPC plant model augmentation, the input and output weights are designed in the frequency domain to meet the transient and steady-state performance requirements. Then, the H∞ loop shaping design procedure is used to synthesize the state-feedback controller for the shaped plant. This linear state-feedback control law is then used to solve an inverse optimization problem to design the cost function matrices for MPC. The designed MPC inherits the small-signal characteristics of the H∞ controller when co...

This thesis is mainly concerned with the efficient solution of a linear discrete-time finite hori... more This thesis is mainly concerned with the efficient solution of a linear discrete-time finite horizon optimal control problem (FHOCP) with quadratic cost and linear constraints on the states and inputs. In predictive control, such a FHOCP needs to be solved online at each sampling instant. In order to solve such a FHOCP, it is necessary to solve a quadratic programming (QP) problem. Interior point methods (IPMs) have proven to be an efficient way of solving quadratic programming problems. A linear system of equations needs to be solved in each iteration of an IPM. The ill-conditioning of this linear system in the later iterations of the IPM prevents the use of an iterative method in solving the linear system due to a very slow rate of convergence; in some cases the solution never reaches the desired accuracy. A new well-conditioned IPM, which increases the rate of convergence of the iterative method is proposed. The computational advantage is obtained by the use of an inexact Newton ...

Research paper thumbnail of Triboelectric Properties of a Ferroelectric Materials and Its Application in Energy Harvesting

Contact electrification, from untapped sources in our environment has been suggested as an altern... more Contact electrification, from untapped sources in our environment has been suggested as an alternative way for electricity generation with the global energy crisis as compared to burning fossil fuels. Tribo effect with electrostatic induction is vastly used for contact electrification for energy generation. Usually, a material has same triboelectric properties along the surface, it can either generate positive charge or negative tribo charge after come in contact, depending on the relative position in triboelectric series. But, ferroelectric materials has a unique property that its triboelectric properties can be controlled via its poling direction and magnitude. Generally, in highly poled layer, one side has completely opposite triboelectric properties as compared to the other side. That is, if positive charge will appear on one side than negative charge on other side after come in contact with same metallic material. This communication will briefly discuss about the triboelectric properties of a poled ferroelectric material. It also introduces a different configured triboelectric generator consisting of one polymer layer that generates electricity when both sides of the layer come in contact with same metallic electrode.

Statistical models were developed using central composite experimental design of the response surface methodology. Yarn’s linear density, slub thickness, slub length and pause length were used as the key input variables while yarn strength, elongation, coefficient of mass variation, imperfections and hairiness were used as response/output variables. It was concluded that yarn strength and elongation increased with increase in linear density and pause length, and decreased with increase in slub thickness and slub length. Yarn mass variation and total imperfections increased with increase in slub thickness and pause length, whereas yarn imperfections and hairiness decreased with increase in slub length. It was further concluded that due to statistically significant square and interaction effects of some of the input variables, only the...

One traditional way of collecting patients experience is by conducting surveys and questionnaires, as these methods ask fixed questions and are expensive to administer. In this paper, a patient feedback platform (PFP) using free text sentiment analysis is developed to computationally identify and categorize the polarity expressed in a piece of text. Six machine learning latest algorithms have been used as key evaluation for evaluating accuracy of the developed (PFP) model. Results achieved have shown 88 % accuracy on the basis of which it is rec...

Research paper thumbnail of Triboelectric Properties of a Ferroelectric Materials and Its Application in Energy Harvesting

Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference of Energy Harvesting, Storage, and Transfer (EHST'18), Jun 1, 2018

A total of 160 patients admitted with stroke were included in our study. After taking informed consent patient's relevant history and examination were carried out. CT-Scan was done to confirm and different between ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. SPSS version 17.0 was used to analyze the collected data. Results: Ischemic stroke was observed in 105 (66%) patients and 55 (34%) were suffered hemorrhagic stroke. Hypertension was 100% in both types of storks in ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. Rate of diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia and smoking were significantly high in hemorrhagic stroke than ischemic stroke (p<0.01). Conclusion: We found a high prevalence of ischemic stroke than hemorrhagic stroke in our population. Among associated factors gender, hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes and smoking were prevalent in both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients.

For this objective, the electrospun PAN nanofibers were stabilized via the heating method. Different amounts of AgNPs were loaded into the PAN nanofibers by using silver nitrate and sodium hydroxide solutions. The basic results showed that AgNPs was homogenously loaded in PAN nanofiber matrixes. Furthermore, the release profile based on two-stage release theory showed that when the negligible amount of AgNPs was loaded into the nanofibers, the release significantly decreased, whereas antibacterial activity increased. The greatest potential antibacterial activity of the lowest amount of AgNPs showed controllable AgNPs release from PAN nanofibers that ha...
