The bioavailability of ofloxacin in the tablet formulation is approximately 98 %. It is extremely bitter in taste, water insoluble drug. It is used to treat variety of infections. The purpose of the present research work was to formulate and evaluate the fast dissolving tablets of ofloxacin by direct compression method using different super disintegrants like PGS (pre gelatinized starch), SSG (sodium starch glycolate), PVPP (ploy vinyl poly pyrrolidone) in different concentrations 5 %, 7.5 %, 10 %. FT-IRspectroscopy was used to investigate the physical characteristics of the complex. The blend was evaluated for angle of repose, bulk density, tapped density, carr's index, hausner ratio. The tablets were evaluated for weight variation, hardness, friability, disintegration time, water absorption ratio, wetting time, drug content uniformity and in vitro dissolution. Tablet formulated with 10 % (F9) of PVPP showed low disintegration time (8 ± 2), wetting time (4.3 ± 0.3), friability than the other batches. The % cumulative release of drug from tablet (F9) was found to be more than 87 % within 10 minutes. It was concluded from the study that ofloxacin may improve patient compliance especially pediatric and geriatric patients and increase the efficacy of drug for treating infections.

The comparison of the key features of trade integration processes and the economic outcomes in Ch... more The comparison of the key features of trade integration processes and the economic outcomes in China and India reveals that while much has already been achieved in both these economies, the Chinese reforms, especially with respect to manufacturing trade, have gone further and that this is likely one of the key determinants of better economic performance of China. Still, China’s integration process so far remains characterized by a certain duality. On the one hand the opening up of trade and FDI in manufactured goods has spurred the emergence of a largely private sector. On the other hand the high level of public ownership and important regulatory barriers continue to dominate the services sectors. India has gone a long way in reducing its tariffs on non-agricultural products as well as selected non-tariff barriers but moderate protection still persists which likely adds to the hurdles faced by the Indian manufacturing sector. India has revealed a comparative advantage in certain seg...

Novel drug delivery system aims to deliver the drug at a rate directed by the needs of the body d... more Novel drug delivery system aims to deliver the drug at a rate directed by the needs of the body during the period of treatment, and target the active entity to the site of action. A number of novel drug delivery systems have emerged encompassing various routes of administration, to achieve controlled and targeted drug delivery, magnetic micro carriers being one of them.
Magnetic microsphere is newer approach in pharmaceutical field. Magnetic microspheres as an alternative to traditional radiation methods which use highly penetrating radiation that is absorbed throughout the body. Its use is limited by toxicity and side effects. The aim of the specific targeting is to enhance the efficiency of drug delivery & at the same time to reduce the toxicity & side effects. This kind of delivery system is very much important which localises the drug to the disease site. In this larger amount of freely circulating drug can be replaced by smaller amount of magnetically targeted drug. Magnetic carriers receive magnetic responses to a magnetic field from incorporated materials that are used for magnetic microspheres are chitosan, dextran etc. magnetic microspheres can be prepared from a variety of carrier material. One of the most utilized is serum albumin from human or other appropriate species. Drug release from albumin microspheres can be sustained or controlled by various stabilization procedures generally involving heat or chemical cross-linking of the protein carrier matrix.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a major cause of end-stage renal disease in the general population. ... more Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a major cause of end-stage renal disease in the general population. It is estimated that DN will eventually develop in about 40% of all patients with diabetes; therefore, the prevention is critical for delaying the development and progression of diabetic kidney disease. Despite extensive efforts, medical advances are still not successful enough to prevent the progression of the disease. In the present study, we focused on the comparison of combination therapies and whether they offered additional renoprotection. Type 2 diabetes mellitus was induced by intraperitoneally administering streptozotocin (STZ) (90 mg/kg) in neonatal rats, and then, these rats were treated with diltiazem (15.0 mg/kg) in combination with glimepiride (0.5 mg/kg) or with pioglitazone (2.5 mg/kg) in combination with glimepiride (0.5 mg/kg). DN markers were evaluated by biochemical and ELISA kits and renal structural changes were examined by light microscopy and transmission electron...
