Resumen-La presente investigación consiste en el desarrollo de un novedoso material elastomérico ... more Resumen-La presente investigación consiste en el desarrollo de un novedoso material elastomérico fabricado a partir del reciclado de neumáticos. Este material se emplea como atenuador de vibraciones en sistemas comúnmente usados en las líneas férreas. Una vez definida la rigidez estática del sistema y caracterizados los componentes elásticos del conjunto, se fabricaron cuatro prototipos a escala real para validar su comportamiento acústico. Tras los ensayos realizados, se observa que este material sufre un proceso de flexibilización, en lugar del habitual proceso de rigidización en cauchos sintéticos, debido a los efectos derivados de la fatiga. Los resultados numéricos confirman la viabilidad de este nuevo eco-material para su uso como atenuador de vibraciones en líneas ferroviarias.

The mounting includes a base (3), a number of legs (2) that are connected by one end to the base (3) and are movable along same in order to adapt to the shape of the building, at least one mast (4) that is connected by one of the ends thereof to the base (3), and attachment arms (5) that are connected to the mast (4) in order to hold the instruments. In addition, the mounting includes counterweights (1) for increasing the stability thereof, located on the free ends of the legs (2) and movable along same. The present invention also relates to the method for installing said mounting.

The figure of the Health and Safety Coordinator (HSC), as a necessary and competent engineer in t... more The figure of the Health and Safety Coordinator (HSC), as a necessary and competent engineer in the construction 18 sector, emerged in Spain on December 25, 1997 as a result of the implementation of European Directive 92/57/ 19 EEC. The coming of age of this figure is a sufficient period of time for determining its implementation and impact 20 within the construction sector. The research carried out in this article arose from the analysis of statistical data 21 obtained through Public Authorities and Professional Bodies. The quantitative study of the data extracted is 22 complemented by the creation of specific benchmark indicators which connect four fundamental variables in 23 the construction industry: the number of accidents, volume of workers employed, building units, and health 24 and safety coordination posts. Furthermore, the legislation governing the HSC engineer in each of the 28 Member 25 States of the European Union is studied. The results show a high implementation rate for the figure of the HSC, as 26 well as a positive impact in relation to the reduced accident rate in the construction sector. Likewise, an update to 27 the procedures of the various authorities is considered to be necessary in order to make the data concerning the 28 actual work of the health and safety coordinators public. Finally, a review of the Spanish legislation concerning 29 the HSC Coordinator is considered to be inevitable, in order to bring it up to the levels of professional skill and 30 competence defined by the majority of European Union Member States Q5. 31

Sin embargo, en el entorno universitario privado, dicha figura ocupa un lugar destacado desde sus inicios. Las Universidades Privadas Españolas, en la década de los 90, tuvieron que ofertar opciones extra que no existiesen en la universidad pública. Una de ellas fue la figura del tutor personal. This research evaluates the chromatic behavior of gypsum-based pastes containing added pigments w... more This research evaluates the chromatic behavior of gypsum-based pastes containing added pigments which enable their use in both new construction projects as well as in restoration interventions for built heritage. Furthermore, the impact of adding pigments to the aforementioned material after twenty-eight and ninety days has also been studied. This was confirmed by carrying out compositional, mineralogical and physical studies of the raw materials and the pastes. The results indicate that all of the pastes studied have suitable mechanical strength values for the type of pastes studied, thereby confirming their suitability for on-site use based on their characteristics and behavior. Colorimetric analysis showed color variations that were clearly perceptible to the human eye, related to increases in luminosity which significantly exceeded 100%, and also to saturation losses featuring percentage variations of more than 100% on assessment after ninety days. This colorimetric analysis by means of quantitative spectrophotometry is of vital importance when determining the loss of color intensity of the pastes used, since subjective observation results in serious errors of interpretation. This type of study reflects the use of instrumental color measurements for this type of materials and mixtures.

Focusing on the analysis of green spaces of urban and peri-urban borders, this paper puts into pr... more Focusing on the analysis of green spaces of urban and peri-urban borders, this paper puts into practice a methodology designed for the analysis of green areas and peri-urban spaces as green infrastructures, but from a multifunctional and integrating perspective, as it is stated in the European Strategy for Green Infrastructures and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development goals. The deadline for implementing European legislation in this area means that strategic plans are being developed at local and regional level. In Spain there are municipal and regional strategies already developed and implemented but the national strategy has not yet been approved. To this end, the development of monitoring and evaluation tools such as the one presented in this article, can help not only in local decision-making, but also in the establishment of common criteria to help assess its future evolution. This research analyses the large peri-urban parks located in the southwest of the Community of Madrid (Spain). The evaluation is carried out from a local to a regional scale applying multifunctionality criteria to the planning, design, execution, maintenance and resilience phases. From the point of view of landscape structures, the findings of this study reflect a high environmental and social services delivery value, which makes it possible to understand the need to create networks to integrate the peri-urban spaces into the city and to attend to and understand the needs of all actors involved: citizens, political leaders, municipal technicians and private companies, providing them a common vision that improves the future of these spaces. This makes them core areas from which to design strategic plans for natural infrastructure and improvement of biodiversity in the urban area, being, likewise, an example that can be extrapolated and applied to large cities whose urban areas are adjoined and where peri-urban parks can be the starting point for designing supramunicipal strategies for open spaces. Based on these results we can conclude that southwest Madrid provides the ideal conditions for implementing a supramunicipal strategy for green infrastructures which, starting with its large forest parks, showcases the periurban areas which connect them with the urban green network. The Móstoles Green Network and Bosquesur are two strategic projects which, together with the forest parks, constitute a working framework based on which the Supra-municipal Strategy for Open Spaces in Southwest Madrid can be devised.

The introduction of various elements in the alloy changes its characteristics, and a thorough study of each alloy should be completed to determine its appropriate corrosion resistance and biocompatibility in contact with physiological fluids. There are scarce investigations on these widely used dental alloys in Ringer solution, and findings in this research bring new experimental data and information. The present study evaluated and compared the corrosion behavior of six NiCr- and two CoCr-based dental materials in Ringer solution, using the following techniques: potentiostatic polarization curves (chronoamperometry), microstructural analysis, and EIS (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy). In this research, a microscope stand has been built which enables both the measurement of propert... more In this research, a microscope stand has been built which enables both the measurement of properties and the characterization of amorphous magnetic materials when they are subjected to an electric current. It is currently not possible to ascertain the real temperature during current annealing using a thermocouple, due to the thermal inertia and the fact that its mass is comparable to that of the amorphous material. To solve this, the infrared radiation of the material can be measured during the heating process by means of a microscope. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to place the material under the microscope so that the said radiation value may be obtained whilst avoiding buckling. The stand fulfills this function since it features a sliding part connected to a weight, which enables the measurement of the magnetic properties and the temperature of the amorphous ferromagnetic material using the microscope. The device developed is very useful for detecting crystallization processes in situ and it could also be used to study the growth of monocrystals and the recrystallization of grains.

Design/methodology/approach The specimens were received in the form of cylindrical ingots and were cut to get five samples of each brand with a cylindrical shape of 2 mm height to conduct the study. In this scientific research, the following techniques were used: open circuit potential, potentiodynamic polarization studies, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Findings The study findings revealed the passivation tendency of the different specimens. Additionally, when the materials were compared, it was discovered that the decisive factor for high corrosion resistance was the chromium concentration. As a result of this study, a device has been developed for the pulsed current annealing of amorph... more As a result of this study, a device has been developed for the pulsed current annealing of amorphous magnetic materials covered with non-conductive dissipative material, such as silicone oil. This system makes it possible to obtain magnetic labels using a single material, thereby reducing production costs and preventing the material from rusting during the treatment process. Furthermore, maintaining the sample in tension throughout the process prevents it from becoming deformed or breaking during the heat treatment. Lastly, it has been demonstrated that the labels obtained can be detected by measuring the spectral response.

All modes of transport are obliged to reduce their emissions by both national and international governmental bodies, this requirement being even more necessary in the case of ports due to their traffic density and proximity to the city. The objective of this research is to estimate the atmospheric emissions generated during the operational phases, which are carried out close to Spanish ports. Due to its geographical position, Spain benefits from the routes of the Atlantic corridor and Mediterranean corridor belonging to the principal European transport network. The method uses detailed information about ship movements and ship categories (ship type, engine type, fuel type, etc.). From an environmental point of view, the results show that engines powered by Liquefied Natural Gas, compared to traditional fuels, save between 28% in the case of freight ships and 31% for passenger ships in the emission of CO2...

El blended learning (BL) puede resultar muy útil para mejorar la enseñanza en los tradicionales t... more El blended learning (BL) puede resultar muy útil para mejorar la enseñanza en los tradicionales talleres de Proyectos Arquitectónicos que se imparten en las escuelas públicas españolas. El taller constituye el núcleo educativo de todas las disciplinas vinculadas al diseño en general y a la arquitectura en particular. En la Escuela de Arquitectura de Madrid se utiliza este sistema en todas las unidades docentes del Departamento de Proyectos Arquitectónicos. Sin embargo, que un modelo funcione no implica que no pueda mejorarse. De hecho, tanto los resultados de desempeño académico como las opiniones mostradas por alumnos y docentes indican que algunos aspectos deberían mejorarse. This research evaluates the chromatic behavior of gypsum-based pastes containing added pigments w... more This research evaluates the chromatic behavior of gypsum-based pastes containing added pigments which enable their use in both new construction projects as well as in restoration interventions for built heritage. Furthermore, the impact of adding pigments to the aforementioned material after twenty-eight and ninety days has also been studied. This was confirmed by carrying out compositional, mineralogical and physical studies of the raw materials and the pastes. The results indicate that all of the pastes studied have suitable mechanical strength values for the type of pastes studied, thereby confirming their suitability for on-site use based on their characteristics and behavior. Colorimetric analysis showed color variations that were clearly perceptible to the human eye, related to increases in luminosity which significantly exceeded 100%, and also to saturation losses featuring percentage variations of more than 100% on assessment after ninety days. This colorimetric analysis by means of quantitative spectrophotometry is of vital importance when determining the loss of color intensity of the pastes used, since subjective observation results in serious errors of interpretation. This type of study reflects the use of instrumental color measurements for this type of materials and mixtures.

Focusing on the analysis of green spaces of urban and peri-urban borders, this paper puts into pr... more Focusing on the analysis of green spaces of urban and peri-urban borders, this paper puts into practice a methodology designed for the analysis of green areas and peri-urban spaces as green infrastructures, but from a multifunctional and integrating perspective, as it is stated in the European Strategy for Green Infrastructures and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development goals. The deadline for implementing European legislation in this area means that strategic plans are being developed at local and regional level. In Spain there are municipal and regional strategies already developed and implemented but the national strategy has not yet been approved. To this end, the development of monitoring and evaluation tools such as the one presented in this article, can help not only in local decision-making, but also in the establishment of common criteria to help assess its future evolution. This research analyses the large peri-urban parks located in the southwest of the Community of Madrid (Spain). The evaluation is carried out from a local to a regional scale applying multifunctionality criteria to the planning, design, execution, maintenance and resilience phases. From the point of view of landscape structures, the findings of this study reflect a high environmental and social services delivery value, which makes it possible to understand the need to create networks to integrate the peri-urban spaces into the city and to attend to and understand the needs of all actors involved: citizens, political leaders, municipal technicians and private companies, providing them a common vision that improves the future of these spaces. This makes them core areas from which to design strategic plans for natural infrastructure and improvement of biodiversity in the urban area, being, likewise, an example that can be extrapolated and applied to large cities whose urban areas are adjoined and where peri-urban parks can be the starting point for designing supramunicipal strategies for open spaces. Based on these results we can conclude that southwest Madrid provides the ideal conditions for implementing a supramunicipal strategy for green infrastructures which, starting with its large forest parks, showcases the periurban areas which connect them with the urban green network. The Móstoles Green Network and Bosquesur are two strategic projects which, together with the forest parks, constitute a working framework based on which the Supra-municipal Strategy for Open Spaces in Southwest Madrid can be devised.

In this research, a microscope stand has been built which enables both the measurement of propert... more In this research, a microscope stand has been built which enables both the measurement of properties and the characterization of amorphous magnetic materials when they are subjected to an electric current. It is currently not possible to ascertain the real temperature during current annealing using a thermocouple, due to the thermal inertia and the fact that its mass is comparable to that of the amorphous material. To solve this, the infrared radiation of the material can be measured during the heating process by means of a microscope. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to place the material under the microscope so that the said radiation value may be obtained whilst avoiding buckling. The stand fulfills this function since it features a sliding part connected to a weight, which enables the measurement of the magnetic properties and the temperature of the amorphous ferromagnetic material using the microscope. The device developed is very useful for detecting crystallization processes in situ and it could also be used to study the growth of monocrystals and the recrystallization of grains.

This system makes it possible to obtain magnetic labels using a single material, thereby reducing production costs and preventing the material from rusting during the treatment process. Furthermore, maintaining the sample in tension throughout the process prevents it from becoming deformed or breaking during the heat treatment. Lastly, it has been demonstrated that the labels obtained can be detected by measuring the spectral response.

All modes of transport are obliged to reduce their emissions by both national and international governmental bodies, this requirement being even more necessary in the case of ports due to their traffic density and proximity to the city. The objective of this research is to estimate the atmospheric emissions generated during the operational phases, which are carried out close to Spanish ports. Due to its geographical position, Spain benefits from the routes of the Atlantic corridor and Mediterranean corridor belonging to the principal European transport network. The method uses detailed information about ship movements and ship categories (ship type, engine type, fuel type, etc.). From an environmental point of view, the results show that engines powered by Liquefied Natural Gas, compared to traditional fuels, save between 28% in the case of freight ships and 31% for passenger ships in the emission of CO2...

El blended learning (BL) puede resultar muy útil para mejorar la enseñanza en los tradicionales t... more El blended learning (BL) puede resultar muy útil para mejorar la enseñanza en los tradicionales talleres de Proyectos Arquitectónicos que se imparten en las escuelas públicas españolas. El taller constituye el núcleo educativo de todas las disciplinas vinculadas al diseño en general y a la arquitectura en particular. En la Escuela de Arquitectura de Madrid se utiliza este sistema en todas las unidades docentes del Departamento de Proyectos Arquitectónicos. Sin embargo, que un modelo funcione no implica que no pueda mejorarse. De hecho, tanto los resultados de desempeño académico como las opiniones mostradas por alumnos y docentes indican que algunos aspectos deberían mejorarse.
