This paper considers how a rational, forward-looking and competitive commodity market would account for these anticipated changes and thereby influence time path of storage, prices, price volatility, and social welfare. We forecast 1600 hypothetical yield paths from 2000 to 2080 using estimates from a recent global statistical analysis of weather and crop yields combined with projections from 16 climate models. We then extend the dynamic competitive storage model to account for land response to price and anticipated yield shift. We simulate 1600 stochastic-equilibrium price paths under climate change relative to a baseline of stable prices using our hypothetical yield paths together with estimated demand and supply elasticities and storage cost from the literature. Our results indicate that, under the impact of climate change, world crop price leve...

Previously, we reported the efficacy of tonsil-derived mesenchymal stem cells (TMSCs) differentiated into parathyroid-like cells for the treatment of hypoparathyroidism. Here, we investigated the feasibility of three-dimensional structural microbeads fabricated with TMSCs and alginate, a natural biodegradable polymer, to treat hypoparathyroidism. Alginate microbeads were fabricated by dropping a 2% (w/v) alginate solution containing TMSCs into a 5% CaCl2 solution and then differentiated into parathyroid-like cells using activin A and sonic hedgehog for 7 days. The protein expression of PTH, a specific marker of the parathyroid gland, was significantly higher in differentiated alginate microbeads with TMSCs (Al-dT) compared with in undifferentiated alginate microbeads with TMSCs. For in vivo experiments, we created the hypoparathyroidism animal model by p...

Automatic detection of geoinformation from satellite images has been a fundamental yet challengin... more Automatic detection of geoinformation from satellite images has been a fundamental yet challenging problem, which aims to reduce the manual effort of human annotators in maintaining an up-to-date digital map. There are currently several high-resolution satellite imagery datasets that are publicly available. However, the associated ground-truth annotations are limited to road, building, and land use, while the annotations of other geographic objects or attributes are mostly not available. To bridge the gap, we present Grab-Pklot, the first high-resolution and context-enriched satellite imagery dataset for parking lot detection. Our dataset consists of 1344 satellite images with the ground-truth annotations of carparks in Singapore. Motivated by the observation that carparks are mostly co-appear with other geographic objects, we associate each satellite image in our dataset with the surrounding contextual information of road and building, given in the format of multi-channel images. As a side contribution, we present a fusion-based segmentation approach to demonstrate that the parking lot detection accuracy can be improved by modeling the correlations between parking lots and other geographic objects. Experiments on our dataset provide baseline results as well as new insights into the challenges and opportunities in parking lot detection from satellite images.

Estrogen decreases renal ACE and AT1R and increases NO and AT2R. At the renal transporter level, distal tubule Na+-Cl- cotransporter (NCC) is upregulated by estrogen and more abundant in females, while the loop of Henle (LH) Na+-K+-2Cl- cotransporter (NKCC2) is less abundant. This study aimed to compare female to male apical Na+ transporters’ abundance, distribution, phosphorylation and cleavage and to determine the functional consequences of the differences. Sprague Dawley rats were fasted overnight then fed a 0%KCl meal before termination. The figure displays relative abundance of total and modified (P -phosphorylated, CL-cleaved, FL-full length) transporters expressed along the nephron in females versus males (defined as 1.0), determined by quantitative immunoblotting. Lower abundance of NaPi2, villin, myosin VI, together with higher...

HEK293 cells were transfected with siGFP, siMYH, siTopBP1, or both siMYH and siTopBP1. Then untreated or treated 20 mM HU for 1 h. 3 mM Thymidine was treated for arresting cell cycle in S phase. After 18 h, cells were harvested or incubated in fresh media for 8 h to release thymidine. Knockdown of hMYH and hTopBP1 diminished the DNA damage recovery and cell cycle progress in contrast of control using siGFP. This result shown that knockdown of hMYH and hTopBP1 induced cell cycle arrest delay.

Cardiovascular side effects of CAR-T therapy that have been noticed so far include hypotension, left ventricular dysfunction, heart failure and cardiogenic shock in settings of CRS. We aimed to assess the cardiovascular side effects in a racially/ ethnically diverse patient population who underwent CAR-T cell therapy. Methods: This study included thirty-four consecutive adult patients who underwent treatment with CAR-T cell product Axi-Cel at an academic health system between 2018-2021. We performed detailed chart reviews and collected information related to the age, gender, hematological malignancy diagnosis, other medical comorbidities, therapeutic regimens, pretreatment cardiac risk factors, development of CRS with grading , pre and post treatment electro...

For the latter, probably the most im-portant histone is H3. Mammals have three near-identical H3 isoforms: canonical H3.1 and H3.2, and the replication-independent variant H3.3. This variant can accumulate in slowly dividing somatic cells, replacing canonical H3. Some replication-independent histones, through their ability to incorporate outside S-phase, are functionally important in the very slowly dividing mammalian germ line. Much remains to be learned of H3.3 functions in germ cell development. Histone H3.3 presents a unique genetic paradigm in that two conventional intron-containing genes encode the identical protein. Here, we present a comprehensive analysis of the developmental effects of null mutations in each of these genes. H3f3amutants were viable to adulthood. Females were fertile, while males were subfertile with dysmorphic sper-matozoa. H3f3bmutants were growth-deficient, dying at birth. H3f3b heterozygotes were also...

In recent years, spatial and temporal remote sensing data have been increasingly used for model performance evaluation. Previous studies, however, have focused on either the temporal or spatial model performance evaluation. In addition, temporal (or spatial) model performance evaluation is often done in a spatially (or temporally) lumped approach. Here, we evaluated (1) the temporal model performance evaluation in a spatially distributed approach (spatiotemporal) and (2) the spatial model performance in a temporally distributed approach (temporospatial) model performance evaluation. This study demonstrated that both spatiotemporal and temporospatial model performance evaluations are necessary since they provide different aspects of the model performance. For example, spatiotemporal model performance evaluatio...
