Results are presented of a study of the critical route of women affected by domestic violence con... more Results are presented of a study of the critical route of women affected by domestic violence conducted in 16 communities of Central America and Ecuador Bolivia and Peru. A single protocol was applied in 1996-98 to determine the process followed by women over 15 and to identify the factors influencing it. Data were obtained from interviews with affected women and service providers institutional documents and focus groups with community members. The development of policy and legislation intended to prevent and treat domestic violence in the different countries and the local contexts of the 16 communities are described and compared. Access availability and quality of services in the health judicial police and educational sectors and nongovernmental organizations are described. Social attitudes toward domestic violence in the communities and the women’s characteristics and experiences with violence and service agencies are assessed. Reinventarse sobre la marcha: Mujeres refugiadas y migrantes de Venezuela. Un estudio de sus condiciones y accesos a medios de vida en Colombia, Ecuador y Perú, 2020
En la migracion que tiene como origen Venezuela, que es de caracter masivo desde 2015, las mujer... more En la migracion que tiene como origen Venezuela, que es de caracter masivo desde 2015, las mujeres constituyen aproximadamente la mitad de los flujos. Este estudio analiza las condiciones en que ellas transitan y viven en Colombia, Ecuador y Perú, paises que componen el corredor mas importante de este movimiento migratorio.
Se apoya en encuentas realizadas por OIM, ACNUR y los gobiernos de Colombia y Perú, entrevistas a representantes estatales y de agencia humanitarias y organismos que apoyan a esta población, y grupos focales realizados para esta investigación con mujeres migrantes, refugiadas y retornadas provenientes de Venezuela.
El estudio permite concluir que la migración está enfrentando a estas mujeres a una dificultad para acceder a medios de vida mayor que la que encuentran sus homólogos hombres, a pesar de tener ellas niveles educativos superiores, y la gran mayoría experiencia laboral o empresarial. El resultado es una vuelta a la domesticidad. La violencia que viven, en particular la violencia sexual, la injusta organización social de los cuidados y la discriminación sexista que segmenta los mercados laborales son factores estructurales que actúan con más intensidad que antes de migrar y empujan a un regreso al hogar como espacio físico, relacional y simbólico.
