When knowledge becomes capital, its dissemination in the society out of benevolence of the universities becomes uncertain. It is because the linkages between the economy and the universities’ core activities of teaching and research have become strong as never before, their linkages with the community and society at large have become blurred. By unravelling the national and international discourse on university social responsibility and related constructs, this chapter shows the importance of university-society linkages in the current economic paradigm, reinstituted not just through a few departments and clinical programmes of the universities but also through their core activities of teaching and research.

MANET is a self configuring and self organizing collection of mobile nodes. As nodes have given mobility, it is very complex task to manage the routing. As in MANETS, every node can work as the host as well as the router such that can receive and send the packet. As in MANET the network topology is dynamic and frequently changes, so routing protocols should be designed to meet the requirement of the MANET. There are various protocols available for the routing compare the working of AODV and DSR for different

Research paper thumbnail of The construction of knowledge on “quality” in higher education: A study of universities’ websites in India

In the process, the objective is to reveal what claims on “quality” in higher education (HE), are made by these universities; and how and why marketing power/knowledge influences these claims. Adhering to a critical realist discourse analysis approach, the paper not only describes the discourse on “quality” in HE on the selected universities’ websites but also makes an attempt to explain why marketing power/knowledge has come to have causal influence over the ways of knowing about “quality” in HE. Invoking, a moderate constructionist theory which is compatible with critical realism, it is accepted that knowledge on “quality” in HE is constructed discursively. However, these constructions are also shaped by non-discursive factors such as materiality, structural, institutional and physical embodied elements. The paper finds marke...

However, these institutions employ the majority of the teachers and cater to the needs of the majority of students in the country.

Support with CeO 2 content of 5wt% on γ-Al 2 O 3 was prepared by impregnation with Ce(NO 3) 3 .6H 2 O solution. The effects of temperature (450°C and 550°C), Water/Ethanol ratio (mol/mol) (3 and 8) and Oxygen/Ethanol molar ratio (0.23 and 0.3) were studied at 1 atmospheric pressure in a down-flow tubular fixed bed reactor. The percentage conversion of ethanol ranged from 90% to 98% and maximum hydrogen selectivity was observed up to 70% at a selected Water /Oxygen/Ethanol molar ratio at 550°C. On increasing Water/Ethanol molar ratios in the feed, the catalytic activity for hydrogen production could be enhanced.

Therefore, in present study we explored its application to synthesize N-Benzylideneaniline and its derivatives based on Schiff base reaction. Kinnow peel powder is characterized by FTIR, TEM, SEM, XRD, EDX, and TGA for functional groups, morphology, surface, elements and thermal stability. Benzaldehyde, aniline, and their derivatives such as 4-methyl benzaldehyde, 4-hydroxy benzaldehyde, 4-methoxy benzaldehyde, and 4-methoxy aniline have been used to compare the efficacy of the Schiff base reaction using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and it has been observed that combination of Aniline and benzaldehyde for Schiff base reaction provided 85% yield of relative product.

Like any other form of stress, examination stress seems to have a beneficial and a detrimental component since it rests on continuums of frequency, intensity, duration, and situation. All of these components vary with individual personalities and the way they are appraised. Examination stress, again like other stresses, requires some degree of efforts for effective coping, and one may settle down even if nothing is done about it in particular if stress is situational. The present paper aims at re-visiting the examination stress in view of adolescents' quality of life from the perspective of a clinical psychologist. The paper stresses on de-stressing the phase of examinations in the life of adolescents and the significant others associated with them.

Anamika Srivastava & Deepanshu Mohan consider how these new universities challenge the traditional value, nature and goals attached to education. They argue that while private investment is necessary to meet increasing demand, new institutions must be careful not to compromise or contradict the larger social goals of higher education.

Normal people find little difficulty in understanding and interpreting the meaning of sign language expressed by the hearing impaired, it is inevitable to have an interpreter for the translation of sign language. There are very fewer technologies that help to connect this social group to the world. Understanding sign language is the primary enablers in helping hard of hearing people with the rest of society. American Sign Language detection is a process in which computer analyses the American Sign Language gestures and then convert them into humanreadable text. Those people who face difficulty in speaking and in hearing can easily communicate with the use of this Sign language detection software. Nowadays many types of research are going on to make this process easy and accurate. In this paper, an effort has been made to highlight the work and comparative study of that work do...

Research paper thumbnail of Toward Achieving Formal Guarantees for Human-Aware Controllers in Human-Robot Interactions

Synthesis techniques have the benefit of providing formal guarantees for specification satisfaction. There is potential to apply these techniques for devising robot controllers whose specifications are coupled with human needs. This paper explores the use of formal methods to construct human-aware robot controllers to support the productivity requirements of humans. We tackle these types of scenarios via human workload-informed models and reactive synthesis. This strategy allows us to synthesize controllers that fulfill formal specifications that are expressed as linear temporal logic formulas. We present a case study in which we reason about a work delivery and pickup task such that the robot increases worker productivity, but not stress induced by high work backlog. We demonstrate our controller using the Toyota HSR, a mobile manipulator robot. The results demonstrate the realization of a robust robot controller that is guaranteed to properly reason and react in collaborative tasks with human partners.
