Analysis of the most well-known method of calculation of dilution process in rivers proposed by V... more Analysis of the most well-known method of calculation of dilution process in rivers proposed by V. A. Frolov in 1950 has been carried out. Its popularity can be explained by its simplicity and successful selection of the determining parameters. The character of this method connection with the models constructed on the basis of diffusion K-models has been demonstrated. Assessments of its optimal application sphere have been given.

АННОТАЦИЯ: Рассмотрено применение метода акустического профилирования донных отложений крупного в... more АННОТАЦИЯ: Рассмотрено применение метода акустического профилирования донных отложений крупного водохранилища с использованием современных приборных средств. Подобные исследования эффективны при оценке объемов донных отложений и характера их залегания. Приведены примеры интерпретации профилограмм при разных условиях залегания донных отложений. Использование акустических профилографов в сочетании с контрольным отбором проб донных отложений без нарушения их вертикальной структуры (колонка) позволяет при минимальных затратах получить необходимый комплекс исходной информации для планирования дальнейших мероприятий.

The article implores accuracy of statistical estimations of water bodies’ hydro/chemical characte... more The article implores accuracy of statistical estimations of water bodies’ hydro/chemical characteristics used in currently valid regulating documents concerning regulation of non-natural impacts upon water bodies. The authors have considered consistency of equidistributed estimates of values, medians and dispersions both theoretical and practically used distribution functions of hydro/chemical characteristics (ingredients content) of water bodies. Analysis of estimations consistence has been based on Mathcad 13 licensed software use. The calculations performed have demonstrated that the character of the receiving watercourse hydrological regime variability is determinative for consistence of the equidistributed values. With Cv >1 this estimates become inconsistent and errors of their estimates do not decrease with the amount of sampling increase. The authors have as well analyzed (with Mathcad 13) dependence of the root-sum-square uncertainty of the equidistributed values, medians, and dispersions with different functions of the waste water receiving watercourse rate and disposed waste water distributions. It has been shown that median estimations are characterized by incomparably higher statistical stability in comparison with estimations built up on equidistributed characteristics. We have demonstrated unreasonableness of the currently active regulation system with an example of the suspended matters normalization. It is necessary to decrease principally, at least by one order, errors of determination of the suspended alluvium concentration or to increase the value of maximal permissible excess of the alluvium content in the control range in comparison with the background content.

The paper presents the results of field measurements and numerical modeling of the influence of v... more The paper presents the results of field measurements and numerical modeling of the influence of various factors on the formation of coherent structures in the confluence zone of the Sylva and Chusovaya rivers, which are dammed by the Kamskaya Hydroelectric Power Station (HPS). A characteristic feature of the measured parameters in the zone under study is that they experience both seasonal fluctuations and fluctuations of much higher frequency associated with intraday regulation of the HPS operation. These intraday fluctuations give rise to coherent structures with periodicity T~2–10 min, which manifest themselves in the fluctuations of the specific electrical conductivity of water. The flow velocity also experiences significant fluctuations with a sufficiently wide frequency spectrum, although the characteristic period of its fluctuations is less than the period of electrical conductivity fluctuations and is equal to ~1 min.
