United by a shared interest in the interdisciplinary field of Gender Studies, educators, researchers, students, activists and professionals involved in gender equality established Athena, a network in advanced Women's Studies, in 1998. This network has been supported by the Erasmus/Socrates financing of Thematic Networks ever since. Scholars from almost every European country within and outside the European Union have taken up the challenge to explore, define and improve Gender Studies in higher education. The network has produced expertise in Gender Studies at a truly transnational level by bridging the gap between universities and civil society, involving students and researching education, as well as teaching research. At the same time the results are deeply rooted and embedded in different locations: interdisciplinary classrooms, international educational exchange, NGOs and governmental policy making as well as political activism directed at strengthening women's position. Now is the time to take stock and describe the significant expertise collected in recent years.

Andrea Pető argues that the law may well prove to be a miscalculation by the country's Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán. 'Will to power' is the key concept when one wants to decipher the long rule of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his policies. Nowhere are the conscious incoherence and confusion in the values of Orbán more apparent than in the latest Act LXXIX of 2021 on 'stricter measures against paedophile offenders', which labels gender identity, gender reassignment, and homosexuality as 'deviations'. The law, which was formulated with no public consultation, was passed with the now usual speed. This law was unexpected, just like the law that led to the expulsion of the country's internationally highest ranked university, Central European University (CEU). There were no warning signs. At the same time, whoever suggested or drafted these laws took a big risk. In the case of CEU this proved to be a winning strategy, as by the time the ECJ decided in favour of CEU, the decision had no real impact. Two and a half years passed between the law on CEU and the ECJ's decision, and in the meantime the university was forced to move to Austria, thus Hungarian lawmakers reached their ultimate goal.

The authors from different analytical positions and from different fields demonstrate the rich interpretative resource of the Wall. Describing various aspects of the composition, the participants of the discussion draw attention to the difficulties associated with both the discussion of the Holocaust and forms of its commemorative representation.

The paper claims that the topic o f reproductive rights is so diverse that it is airnostjm possible to find one acto r that represents a coherent position, as would be theoretically expected in relation to such different fields. Based on analysing the collaboration between the different actors it further claims that hete rogeneity also proves that traditional ideas about "left" and "right" and "progressive" and "conservative" need to be rethought.
