Most bearing failures start from raceway fatigue spalls. From the initial formation of spalls, a bearing may still have 10–20% useful life remaining. This makes rolling element bearing an ideal candidate component for fault prognosis. The size estimation for bearing raceway spalls can provide crucial information for bearing fault prognosis. Vibration analysis has been used for bearing fault detection and diagnosis for many years. However, the estimation of bearing fault size using vibration analysis has been only found in dealing with simulated or notched ideal bearing faults. It is a significant challenge to estimate the size of naturally occurring bearing faults using vibration analysis. The objective of this research is to define some feasible vibration signal processing methodologies in dealing with size estimation for naturally generated and propagated faults in high-speed bearings. In th...

Archived data collected from December 2001 to March 2010 by the Radarsat-1 Earth-orbiting radar satellite were analyzed. Millimetric precision was achieved in displacement measurements over an area of approximately 100 km2, including the MMMBT and adjacent regions of Suffolk and Newport News, Virginia. Data consisting of 42 radar acquisitions were processed by using the interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) differential technique. Additional statistical analyses were conducted on selected points of interest. Results of the historical analysis of satellite radar remote sensing data indicated no significant displacements of the tunnel boat sections during the study period. The annual displacement rate precision of the tunnel boat sections was estimated to be ±1 mm/year...

In order to combat this, many schools are incorporating youth running programs as a part of their comprehensive school physical activity programs. These youth running programs are being implemented before or after school, at school during recess at the elementary level, or as a community physical activity program at both the primary and secondary levels. This article highlights 13 nationwide youth running programs and 19 additional programs offered in geographic-specific locations within the United States. Moreover, many adult marathon races now provide a simple “Kid's Marathon” mileage training plan so that youth can try to accumulate 25 (or 25.2) miles in the weeks leading up to the race so they can then run their final 1.2 (or 1) mile at a youth race in conjunction with the marathon. A sampling of marathons that offer training plans prior to a youth race, as well as additional marathons offering youth races, is also provided.

The molecular weight of the native protein was estimated to be 21700 with an S20, w of 2.1 S and a Stokes radius of 2.5 nm. The molecular weight in dodecylsulfate was estimated to be 19000. The protein is highly acidic with an isoelectric point less than 4.1.
