Ionic liquids (IL) have found different applications in chemistry and other branches of technique... more Ionic liquids (IL) have found different applications in chemistry and other branches of technique during the last quarter of century [1,2]. Combination of various cations and anions provides the possibility to adjust structures of ILs to intended applications in the very best way in contrast to traditional organic solvents (molecular liquids) that should be used without variations of their properties. Ammonium, phosphonium and different heterocyclic cations together with halide, sulfate, sulfonate, dimethyl phosphate (DMP) and other anions present a huge variety of IL. Salts with DMP anion (IL-DMP) form a small but highly promising group in the family of IL [3]. These materials are used in different branches of science and industry, the most popular their application being dissolution of biopolymers (mainly cellulose) from different biological resources (wood, sugarcane, etc.) [4-9]. Less attention is payed to extraction processes of other substances with IL-DMP (for example, polyte...

Ionic liquids (ILs) meet these requirements. A novel group of ILs with a very specific anion-dimethyl phosphate (DMP) ion-has appeared recently and can be designated as ILs-DMP. The DMP anion increases hydrophilicity and allocates the complex-formation capacity to ILs-DMP. Although these new materials have been widely used in cellulose dissolution processes, they have not been explored sufficiently in petrochemistry. There is a reason to believe that, in comparison with other ILs, the DMP anion can also provide additional benefits in oil chemistry. Unfortunately, no collected information is available about ILs-DMP in literature. The information presented in the review can pave the way to new applications of these unique materials.

A simple synthetic strategy has been demonstrated for obtaining the dicationic dimethyl phosphate ionic liquid bearing both aromatic imidazolium and aliphatic ammonium moieties.

Condensation reactions of benzaldehyde with ethyl cyanoacetate and with malonic acid were performed in these ionic liquids either in absence or in presence of other catalysts. The effect of ionic liquid structure on the condensation reaction rates and yields was discussed

The condensation reaction of benzaldehyde with nitromethane that resulted in the formation of β-n... more The condensation reaction of benzaldehyde with nitromethane that resulted in the formation of β-nitrostyrene was studied in ionic liquid media - (2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium carboxylates (formates, lactates, acetates) without application of any other catalyst. The dependence of product yield on the ionic liquid cation and anion structure, the polarity of the ionic liquid and the pseudo-pH value of the reaction medium was investigated. The highest yield of the condensation reaction product - β-nitrostyrene was achieved in (2-hydroxyethyl) ammonium formate medium

The role of structure and catalytic activity of ionic liquids on the formation of cyclic ethers: 1,4-dioxane and tetrahydrofuran - is determined.
