Nucleophilicity and P-C Bond Formation Reactions of a Terminal Phosphanido Iridium Complex
Inorganic chemistry, Jan 22, 2015

DFT studies revealed a large contribution of the terminal phosphanido lone pair to the HOMO of 2, indicating nucleophilic character of this ligand, which is evidenced by reactions of 2 with typical electrophiles such as H(+), Me(+), and O2. Products from the reaction of 2 with methyl chloroacetate were found to be either [Ir(ABPN2)(CO)(H)(PPh2CH2CO2Me)][PF6] ([6]PF6) or [Ir(ABPN2)(CO)(Cl)(H)] (7) and the free phosphane (PPh2CH2CO2Me), both involving P-C bond formation, depending on the reaction conditions. New complexes having iridacyclophosphapentenone and iridacyclophosphapentanone moieties result from reactions of 2 with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate and dimethyl maleate, respectively, as a consequence of a further incorporation of the carbonyl ligan...

We showcase here the isolation and characterization of mononuclear phosphanide rhodium complexes ([RhTp(H)(PR2 )L]) that result from the oxidative addition of secondary phosphanes, a reaction that was also explored computationally. These compounds are active catalysts for the dehydrocoupling of PHPh2 to Ph2 PPPh2 . The hydrophosphination of dimethyl maleate and the unactivated olefin ethylene is also reported. Reliable evidence for the prominent role of mononuclear phosphanido rhodium species in these reactions is also provided.

A straightforward synthesis of a new hybrid scorpionate ligand [(allyl) 2 B-(CH 2 PPh 2 )(Pz)] − ... more A straightforward synthesis of a new hybrid scorpionate ligand [(allyl) 2 B-(CH 2 PPh 2 )(Pz)] − ([A 2 BPN] − ) is reported. Coordination to rhodium resulted in squareplanar complexes [Rh(κ 2 -A 2 BPN)(L)(L′)] [L = L′ = 1 / 2 cod (1,5-cyclooctadiene), CN t Bu, CO (6); L = CO, L′ = NH 3 , pyridine, PPh 3 , PMe 3 ] for which spectroscopic data and the molecular structure of [Rh(κ 2 -A 2 BPN)(CO)PPh 3 ] (11) indicate the ligand to be κN,κPbound to rhodium with two dangling free allyl groups. Studies in solution point out that the six-membered Rh−N−N−B−C−P metallacycle undergoes a fast inversion in all of them. The bis(carbonyl) complex 6 easily loses a CO group to give [{Rh(A 2 BPN)(CO)} 2 ], a dinuclear compound in which two mononuclear subunits are brought together by two bridging allyl groups. Coordination to iridium is dominated by a tripodal κN,κP,η 2 -CC binding mode in the TBPY-5 complexes [Ir(κ 3 -A 2 BPN)(L)(L′)] [L = L′ = 1 / 2 cod (3), CN t Bu (5), CO (7); L = CO, L′ = PPh 3 (13), PMe 3 (14), H 2 CCH 2 , (17), MeO 2 CC CCO 2 Me (dmad, 18)], as confirmed by the single-crystal structure determination of complexes 3 and 18. A fast exchange between the two allyl arms is observed for complexes having L = L′ (3, 5, and 7), while those having CO and L ligands (14, 17, and 18) were found to be nonfluxional species. An exception is complex 13, which establishes an equilibrium with the SP-4 configuration. Protonation reactions on complexes 13 and 14 with HCl yielded the hydride complex [Ir(κ 2 -A 2 BPN)(CO)(Cl)(H)PPh 3 ] (15) and the C-alkyl compound [Ir{κ 3 -(allyl)B(CH 2 CHCH 3 )(CH 2 PPh 2 )-(Pz)}(Cl)(CO)PMe 3 ] (16), respectively. The bis(isocyanide) complex 5 reacts with dmad to form [Ir(κ 2 -A 2 BPN)-(CN t Bu) 2 (dmad)]. On the whole, the electronic density provided to the metal by the [A 2 BPN] − ligand is very sensitive to the coordination mode. The basicity of the new ligand is similar to that of the Tp Me2 ligand in the κN,κP mode but comparable to Tp if coordinated in the κN,κP,η 2 -CC mode.

The effect of this material on the gypsum crystals and the main physical, thermal and mechanical properties were studied and compared to those caused by another three kinds of thermoregulating materials. Polymeric-SiO 2 -PCMs presented the lowest agglomeration and therefore, the best distribution into the gypsum pores. As expected, the thermoregulating effect of the PCM improved the thermal properties of the gypsum since, the higher the microcapsules content, the higher the equivalent heat capacity (c p ) and the accumulated heat power (q acc ). Considering a conversion of 100% of the accumulated heat into electricity savings, the addition of a 15% of microcapsules respect to the hemihydrate allowed to save 10.20 kW h/m 3 and, consequently, reduced the CO 2 emissions in a 1.26 kg of CO 2 per operating cycle. Besides, the addition of the Polymeric-SiO 2 -PCMs reduces the gypsum density, but it is always higher than 600 kg/m 3 , as required by the European regulation EN 13279-2. The thermal conductivity (k) is also reduced by the microcapsules addition but for the case of a content of 15%. On the other hand, the porosity is barely affected just varying always less than a 3.5%. Finally, despite of the fact that the Polymeric-SiO 2 -PCMs addition reduces the mechanical properties, all the developed materials satisfied the mechanical European regulation EN 13279-2 which limits the minimum compression and flexural strengths of gypsum composites for building construction to 2 and 1 MPa, respectively. The thermal and mechanical properties of the composite gypsums containing Polymeric-SiO 2 -PCMs are better than those obtained for the rest of the studied thermoregulating materials.

The current research trends look toward compact devices that are able to offer high phase correlation between optical lines, and in this sense, mode-locked laser diodes (MLLDs), with repetition frequencies in the few gigahertz (GHz) range, and especially microresonators, with repetition frequencies of hundreds of GHz, are the most promising devices fulfilling these requirements. Nevertheless, focusing in the few GHz frequency rate, MLLDs cannot provide continuous tunability and require special devices that are still far from offering reliability and repeatability for commercial use. In this letter, we demonstrate for the first time the generation of a flat OFCG based on a single commercial vertical cavity surface emitting laser under gain-switching regime with 20 optical lines (spaced by 4.2 GHz) in a 3-dB bandwidth, offering wide tunability range and very high phase correlation between optical modes. This OFCG does not need any external modulator and it is the most energy-efficient OFCG reported to date.

All the compounds displayed a high affinity for D(1)-like and/or D(2)-like dopamine receptors in striatal membranes, although they were unable to inhibit [(3)H]-dopamine uptake in striatal synaptosomes. The halogen placed on the benzylic ring in 1-benzyl-THIQs, compounds of the series 1, 2'-bromobenzyl derivatives with K(i) values into the nanomolar range, and the series 2, 2',4'-dichlorobenzyl-THIQ homologues, proves to be an important factor to modulate affinity at dopamine receptor.

These cancers appear most often after the worker has retired. Since 1995, a system of post-retirement medical surveillance (PRMS) has been set up for former workers, but it remains largely underused. The SPIRALE program is a public health intervention aimed at identifying the former workers having been exposed to asbestos or wood dust during their working life and to propose them a PRMS. Additionally, it is also an epidemiologic research on the longterm effects of occupational exposure. We report the results of first years of the program conducted in 2006-2008, in 13 districts. a self-administered questionnaire was sent to 50 000 newly retired men, to identify potential past occupational carcinogen exposure. For respondents detected as possibly exposed, exposure was assessed in Health Screening Centres and a PRMS was recommended if necessary. Participation rate, rate of confirmed exposure, increas...

Although differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) usually has an indolent course, some cases show a poor prognosis; therefore, risk stratification is required. The objective of this study is to compare the predictive ability of classical risk stratification systems proposed by the European Thyroid Association (ETA) and American Thyroid Association (ATA) with the system proposed by Tuttle et al. in 2010, based on the response to initial therapy (RIT). Methods. We retrospectively reviewed 176 cases of DTC with a median follow-up period of 7.0 years. Each patient was stratified using ETA, ATA, and RIT systems. Negative predictive value (NPV) and positive predictive value (PPV) were determined. The area under receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was calculated in order to compare the predictive ability. Results. RIT showed a NPV of 97.7%, better than NPV of ETA and ATA systems (93.9% and 94.9%, resp.). ETA and ATA systems showed poor PPV (40.3% and 41%, resp.), while RIT showed a PPV of 70.8%. The area under ROC curve was 0.7535 for ETA, 0.7876 for ATA, and 0.9112 for RIT, showing statistical significant differences ( < 0.05). Conclusions. RIT predicts the long-term outcome of DTC better than ETA/ATA systems, becoming a useful system to adapt management strategies.

The halogen placed on the benzylic ring in 1-benzyl-THIQs, compounds of the series 1, 2&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;#39;-bromobenzyl derivatives with K(i) values into the nanomolar range, and the series 2, 2&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;#39;,4&amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;amp;#39;-dichlorobenzyl-THIQ homologues, proves to be an important factor to modulate affinity at dopamine receptor.

Both theoretical and experimental studies together may give closest approximation to the "real" value. Concerning the optical technique of measurement, perhaps one may analyze more in detail the interaction between light and matter (wire) which can lead to a simple mathematical approach. Besides this, a calibrating system and

To provide evidence of the diagnostic and care efficiency of a monographic thyroid nodule clinic integrating clinical examination, ultrasound examination, and cytology with on site evaluation. Patients attending the monographic thyroid nodule clinic from January 2004 to June 2010. Two periods may be distinguished based on availability of ultrasound equipment at the time of the visit: a first period (P1: 01/2004-09/2007) where no ultrasound equipment was available at the clinic and FNA by palpation was performed, and a second period (P2: 10/2007-06/2010) where this equipment was available and ultrasound-guided FNA was performed. A total of 1036 patients [P1: 537 (52%), P2: 499 (48%)] were seen and enrolled.
