Job performance of individuals is a key factor in the success or demise of an organization. Due to the attribution of organizational factors to the success of an organization, research is necessary to determine the individual differences, such as cognitive ability (G) and personality, that influence these organizational factors (Mollick, 2012). This paper will examine recent literature on the measurements of performance and predictors, the differences between using G and personality for predicting subsequent job performance, and the gaps between academic and practical application, in an effort to advise employers on how they might make solid future decisions in the hiring process.
