Therefore, to avoid serious damage, system are often replaced before the actual failure. The replaced parts are considered to have “soft failure”, and the limit in which the parts are replaced is known as the critical level of the degradation process. Determining the appropriate value of the critical level for a product is an important problem in their exploitation, as well as for predicting the Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) or Remaining Useful Lifetime (RUL) of this product based on the degradation data by the mathematical models. In this article, an approach in determining the critical levels based on failure data from an accelerated test is introduced. This approach is applied with the degradation process of Light-Emitting Diodes (LED) in an accelerated test and a type of Wiener process-based model is used to predict the MTTF or RUL of LED based on their degr...

However, bacterial diseases result in the decrease of striped catfish production efficiency and the most popular disease is hemorrhagic septicemia caused by Aeromonas hydrophila. Bacteriophages or bacterial viruses have been investigated as alternative biological agents to control pathogenic bacterial infections in aquaculture for many decades. A few genomes of striped catfish A. hydrophila bacteriophages have been analyzed, although many genomes of A. hydrophila bacteriophages in other fish have been investigated. In this study, the whole genome sequences of three new A. hydrophila bacteriophages such as PVN03, PVN04 and PVN05 were described. The morphological analysis by transmission electron microscopy indicated that these phages belonged to Myoviridae family. The genome sizes of the phages PVN03, PVN04 and PVN05 were 50,725 bp, 51,721 bp and 51,884 bp, respectively. PVN03 had 64 open reading frames (ORFs), while PVN04 and PVN05 had 65 ORFs and 66 ORFs, respectively. No tRNAs, rRNAs or sRNAs, antibiotic resistance genes, virulence factors, toxin genes and integrase genes were detected in three phage genomes. ANI analysis tool showed that Aeromonas hydrophila phages isolated in Vietnam formed a distinct group having a very low similarity with other Aeromonas hydrophila phages available on the database. In addition, phylogenetic tree analysis indicated that these phages formed a new genus in the Myrovidae family.

Antibiotics are commonly used to treat this disease, however, due to antibiotic resistance in A. hydrophila, it is necessary to have an alternative antibacterial agent to antibiotics. Endolysins are bacteriophage-encoded peptidoglycan hydrolases that are synthesized at the end of the lytic phage replication cycle, they lyse the host bacterial cell wall and release new bacteriophage virions. In this study, an endolysin (cell wall hydrolase) derived from A. hydrophila phage PVN02 was artificially synthesized, cloned into pET28a(+) and successfully expressed in E. coli BL21 (DE3). The recombinant endolysin, cell wall hydrolase strongly exhibited antimicrobial activity against A. hydrophila with a reduction of 3-log CFU/ml of A. hydrophila after 30 minutes of mixing and further 30 minutes of incubation, the bacterial cells were lysed completely. It should be emphasized that the lytic activity ...

The experiments were conducted at temperatures of 40–80 °C utilizing a consecutive charging–discharging procedure, with the charging step at electric fields varying between 20 and 60 kV/mm. A quasi-steady state of the charging currents was earlier observed for the nanofilled specimens and it was attributed to the enhanced trapping process at polymer–nanofiller interfaces. An anomalous behavior of the discharge currents was found at elevated temperatures for both the studied materials and its occurrence at lower temperatures in the nanofilled LDPE was due to the presence of deeply trapped charges at polymer–nanofiller interfaces. The field dependence of the quasi-steady charging currents is examined by testing for different conduction mechanisms. It is shown that the space-charge-limited process is dominant and the average trap site separation is estimated at less th...

Research paper thumbnail of A Mass-Based Approach for Local Outlier Detection

IEEE Access, 2021

This paper proposes a new outlier detection approach that measures the degree of outlierness for ... more This paper proposes a new outlier detection approach that measures the degree of outlierness for each instance in a given dataset. The proposed model utilizes a mass-based dissimilarity measure to address the weaknesses of neighbor-based outlier models while detecting local outliers in the dataset within a variety of data point densities. In particular, it first applies a hierarchical partitioning technique to generate a set of tree-like nested structure partitions for the input dataset, and then a mass-based dissimilarity measure is defined to quantify the dissimilarity between two data instances given the generated hierarchical partition structure. After that, for each data instance, a context set is obtained by gathering the neighbors around it with the k lowest mass dissimilarities, and based on those context sets, a mass-based local outlier score model is introduced to compute the outlierness for each individual instance. The proposed approach fundamentally changes the perspective of the outlier model by using the mass-based measurement instead of the distance-based functions used in most neighbor-based methods. A comprehensive experiment conducted on both synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrates that the proposed approach is not only competitive with the existing state-of-the-art outlier detection models but is also an efficient and effective alternative for local outlier detection methods. Research paper thumbnail of Effects of injection pressure on the NOx and PM emission control of diesel engine: A review under the aspect of PCCI combustion condition

Energy Sources, Part A: Recovery, Utilization, and Environmental Effects, 2020

In conventional diesel engines (DEs), the auto-ignition and decomposition reactions are considera... more In conventional diesel engines (DEs), the auto-ignition and decomposition reactions are considerably dependent on the disintegration of fuel spray and the fuel-air mixing quality. While mixed, localized fuel-rich areas in the combustion chamber also strongly affected the results of the combustion period as well as the emission formation of particulate matters (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). Due to this above-mentioned reason, the combustion of diesel fuel acts as a toxic emission resource released into the environment. It is thus necessary to question that how to use this type of engine with minimizing emissions of PM and NOx without affecting significantly the thermal efficiency of engine. Involving with the use of premixed charge compression ignition (PCCI) mode is considered as an advanced combustion mode for the strategy of NOx and PM emission reduction. In this article, the combination of fuel injection under high pressure applied to PCCI combustion mode was assessed on the basis of the emission characteristics of NOx and PM. The changing trends of NOx and PM emissions were thoroughly analyzed to have a comprehensive overview on the effects of fuel injection pressure (IP) on controlling emissions of NOx and PM when DEs were operated under PCCI combustion conditions. In closing, it is worth mentioning that the increase in fuel IP was demonstrated to improve the engine performance, while the emission control based on PCCI combustion strategy was found to bring several benefits for the control and management of combustion process under lower temperatures compared to conventional DE.

According to Noor, Jamaludin, Omar, and Aziz (2013), tax non-compliance is a growing concern because of its negative effects on the state budget. The main objectives of this article are to identify the factors affecting corporate income tax non-compliance of enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City in accordance with the current situation of Vietnamese tax administration. We use several research methods, including the exploitation of information and practical experiences from both taxpayers and tax authorities; with Probit regression model on a sample of 187 enterprises that have been inspected or examined by tax authorities in Vietnam during the period from 2013 to 2017.The article identified eight factors affecting corporate income tax (CIT) non-compliance: (1) working capital/total assets; (2) revenue/total assets; (3) total debt/total assets; (4) loss in the previous year; (5) receivables/revenue; (6) the size of enterprises; (7) tax administrative penalties/tax payable; and (8) business field. In particular, the tax non-compliance was studied as a violation of Vietnamese tax laws by enterprises declaring an insufficient amount of CIT payable to the State budget.

Currently, however, the sustainable development of striped catfish farming is being affected by bacterial pathogen infections, of which hemorrhagic septicemia caused by Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria is one of the most common diseases. Methods: In this study, the stability of TG25P and CT45P phages to factors such as temperature, pH, and organic solvents was investigated, with the stability of TG25P being found to be higher than that of CT45P. Results: The activity of TG25P was retained to approximately 90% and 80% at 37oC and 50oC for 1 h, respectively. Its activity was maintained to greater than 80% at pH 5-9 for 24 h and approximately 90-100% in organic solvents, such as chloroform or diethyl ether, for 1 h. In addition, the stability and activity of TG25P for the control of A. hydrophila in striped cat...

Research paper thumbnail of Effects of injection pressure on the NOx and PM emission control of diesel engine: A review under the aspect of PCCI combustion condition

Energy Sources, Part A: Recovery, Utilization, and Environmental Effects, 2020

Research paper thumbnail of Cytoreduction and androgen signaling modulation by abiraterone acetate (AA) plus leuprolide acetate (LHRHa) versus LHRHa in localized high-risk prostate cancer (PCa): Preliminary results of a randomized preoperative study

Signaling heterogeneity under the selective pressure of castration may account for response differences. Methods: A single institution preoperative study of 12 weeks AA 1g/prednisone 5 mg + LHRHa compared to LHRHa (randomized 2:1) was conducted in patients (pts) with high risk PCa (clinical stage ≥T1c and biopsy Gleason score ≥8, or ≥T2b, Gleason ≥ 7 and PSA > 10ng/ml). Primary aim: Assess difference in down staging (≤ ypT2) and safety. Secondary aims: Assess difference in androgen biosynthesis, androgen signaling (AR, AR variants, NKX 3.1, ERG, PSA) proliferation apoptosis and candidate treatment resistance pathways. Results: We report on 37 (50 enrolled) pts who had prostatectomy. AA+LHRHa was given to 25pts, LHRHa to 12. Median age is 61 ys (46-74). Preoperative PSA was <0.1ng/ml in 17/25 (68%) AA+...
