Therefore new class of consistency models, called session guarantees, recommended for mobile environment, has been introduced. Session guarantees, called also client-centric consistency models, have been proposed to define required properties of the system regarding consistency from the client's point of view. Unfortunately, none of proposed consistency protocols providing session guarantees is resistant to server failures. Therefore, in this paper checkpointing and rollbackrecovery protocol rVsMW, which preserves Monotonic Writes session guarantee is presented. The recovery protocol is integrated with the underlying consistency protocol by integrating operations of taking checkpoints with coherence operations of VsSG protocol.

Research paper thumbnail of The impact of RESTful semantics on reducing the logging overhead in SOA

Although SOA-based applications have many advantages, they are also highly error-prone. To improve the availability and reliability of SOA-based systems and applications, a Reliable Service Environment RESERVE, providing an external support of web services recovery has been proposed. In this paper we focus on RESTful web services, based on Representational State Transfer (REST) paradigm, and propose the enhancement of RESERVE service that allows to decrease the overhead introduced by RESERVE due to taking advantage of REST characteristics.

This paper describes a checkpointing mechanism destined for Distributed Shared Memory (DSM) syste... more This paper describes a checkpointing mechanism destined for Distributed Shared Memory (DSM) systems with speculative prefetching. Speculation is a general technique involving prediction of the future of a computation, namely accesses to shared objects unavailable on the accessing node (read faults). Thanks to such predictions objects can be fetched before the actual access operation is performed, resulting, at least potentially, in considerable performance improvement. The proposed mechanism is based on independent checkpointing integrated with a coherence protocol for a given consistency model introducing little overhead. It ensures the consistency of checkpoints, allowing fast recovery from failures.

To solve such a problem, rollbackrecovery protocol is proposed. The protocol employs known rollback-recovery techniques, however, it modies and specially adjusts them for specic characteristics of the SOA systems. The paper includes a proof of safety property of the proposed protocol.
