Various approaches explain and support the presence of women on corporate boards. This trend to stimulate the presence of women on boards is widely observed in the European Union, Eastern Europe, the US, Asia and Latin America. Several countries implemented tailored regulations on quotas, reporting guidelines or best practice codes, yet the company reactions are slow and heavily embedded in the existing cultural and social norms as well as in the institutional environment. The goal of the paper is to identify the participation of women on corporate boards on the sample of Polish companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange using the unique hand collected data derived from annual reports. The paper intends to trace the presence of women on boards in Poland within the dynamic analysis documenting the changes in the years 2008–2014. Finally, the paper attempts to answer the question of the impact of the best code recommendations on the equal gender participation in management and supervision of the actual presence of women on boards and the board functions they play.

LPP is one of the largest family business groups in Poland and one of the bigger family business groups in Europe dealing with clothes designing and distribution. Internationalization strategy of LPP was assessed based on the analyses of activities on each geographical market and financial indicators generated by LPP from foreign markets. Obtained results have allowed us to clearly state that: LPP internationalization strategy fits the Uppsala model and in the case of the LPP internationalization is a valid growth strategy because positive correlation between the strategy and financial performance of the company has been confirmed. The main research methods used for this article are a literature study and a case study.
