It has been extended to provide DNS security extensions (DNSSEC) mainly through public key cryptography. In this report I have described the common attacks affecting the Domain Name Systems performance and the way how modern Domain Name Systems are secured. The different kinds of DNS security flavors and their working also described in detail. The DNSSEC subset proposed is presented and analyze from different point of view.

The start of Kamlial Formation deposition at this locality at 18 Ma marks a major break with the older Murree Formation rocks, which were deposited by rivers draining predominantly the Himalayan thrust stack south of the arc. We interpret this change as the result of diversion of the paleo-Indus River to its present position, which crosses the Kohistan arc and Himalayas and debouches into the foreland. If the rapidly exhuming subordinate source region were the Nanga Parbat Haramosh Massif, then initiation of its uplift would have resulted in significant arc † E-mail: y.najman@glg.ed.ac.uk. detritus to the basin as the overlying arc carapace was exhumed. As the carapace was progressively breached, arc material would have become a less substantial component of detritus to the basin, consistent with the reported petrography of the overlying Siwalik deposits.

6 j3C values in paleosols and fossil teeth have been used to document the expansion of C, plants ... more 6 j3C values in paleosols and fossil teeth have been used to document the expansion of C, plants in South Asia, Africa, and North America during the late Miocene. However, the exact timing and rate of expansion of C, vegetation is unclear outside the Old World because of a lack of high-resolution records. We present a high-resolution record from northwest Argentina in which the S13C values of soil carbonate rise above a threshold of -8%0, suggesting the presence of C, plants, starting at 7.3-6.7 Ma. Sr3C values of fossil teeth from well dated sections in South and North America display a concomitant increase of C, plants in the diets of large herbivores. These results show that the late Miocene expansion of C, plants was global, but occurred at different rates in each region. While it is has been suggested that declining pC0, levels during the late Neogene caused C, plant expansion, climate change, such as an increase in summer-dominated rainfall regimes globally, is an alternative explanation. The 6 "0 soil carbonate records from South Asia, East Africa and now also northwest Argentina all show an increase of at least 3-4%~ in the late Neogene, either the result of climate change or of greater evaporation in average grassland soils.

Research paper thumbnail of Bias-corrected Quantile Regression Forests for high-dimensional data

2014 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, Jul 13, 2014

Quantile Regression Forest (QRF), a nonparametric regression method based on random forests, has ... more Quantile Regression Forest (QRF), a nonparametric regression method based on random forests, has been proved to perform well in terms of prediction accuracy, especially when the conditional distributions are not Gaussian. However, the method may have two kinds of bias when solving regression problems. The first kind of bias is in the feature selection stage and the second one is in solving the regression problem. In this paper, we propose a new bias-correction algorithm that uses bias correction based on QRF. To correct the first kind of bias, we propose a new scheme for feature sampling that allows to select good features for growing trees. The first level QRF is built based on this. For the second kind of bias, the residual term of the first level QRF model is used as the response feature to train the second level QRF model for bias correction. The second level model is then used to compute bias-corrected predictions. In our experiments, the proposed algorithm dramatically reduced the prediction errors and outperformed most of the existing regression random forests models when applied to synthetic data set as well as some well-known real-world data sets.

Journal of Biosciences, 2013

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a disease induced by complex interactions between environmenta... more Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a disease induced by complex interactions between environmental factors and certain genetic factors. Genetic variants in the Adenosine Binding Cassette Transporter Proteins 1 (ABCA1) have been associated with abnormalities of serum lipid levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C). Decreased serum levels of HDL-C have often been observed in T2DM cases, and this condition has been considered to be involved in the mechanism of insulin resistance (IR). Therefore, we investigated possible association between ABCA1 C69T gene polymorphism and T2DM in a Saudi population. This study was carried out with 380 healthy control subjects and 376 T2DM patients. Genotyping of ABCA1 C69T polymorphism was carried out by Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism technique. We observed that the frequency of the T allele of the ABCA1 C69T gene was significantly higher in healthy subjects compared to T2DM patients (0.28 vs 0.45; p<0.0001; OR (95% CI) = 0.4624 (0.3732-0.5729), and therefore the T allele may be a protective factor against T2DM in the Saudi population. -Nbaheen MS, Ansari MGA and Syed R 2013 ABCA1 C69T gene polymorphism and risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus in a Saudi population. Research paper thumbnail of Learning Time-based Rules for Prediction of Alarms from Telecom Alarm Data Using Ant Colony Optimization

This paper proposes a new method to learn time based rules from telecom system alarm data for pre... more This paper proposes a new method to learn time based rules from telecom system alarm data for prediction of the classes of alarms. A time based rule associates an alarm class with the S-tartTime attribute and other attributes of alarms. The rules are evaluated with the coverage of the rules in the training data set. Given a new alarm generated at a particular time, its alarm class can be predicted with a set of time based rules. We present a new algorithm that extracts time based rules from alarm data through an ant colony optimization (ACO) process. Given an alarm training data, a search space is formulated as a square matrix indexed by distinctive attribute values. The pheromone at the search space is computed from the training data and a time based rule is discovered from the pheromone distribution. The pheromone distribution is updated after a time based rule is extracted and the search for a new rule starts. A rule pruning process is used to remove redundant rules and increase the prediction accuracy of the final rule set. We experimented the new method on Nokia Simmons (NSN) and Ericsson data sets and compared the results of the new method and the TimeSeluth system. The comparison demonstrated that the new method outperformed TimeSeluth in prediction accuracy.

This paper describes new extensions to the state-of-the-art regression random forests Quantile Re... more This paper describes new extensions to the state-of-the-art regression random forests Quantile Regression Forests (QRF) for applications to high dimensional data with thousands of features. We propose a new subspace sampling method that randomly samples a subset of features from two separate feature sets, one containing important features and the other one containing less important features. The two feature sets partition the input data based on the importance measures of features. The partition is generated by using feature permutation to produce raw importance feature scores first and then applying p-value assessment to separate important features from the less important ones. The new subspace sampling method enables to generate trees from bagged sample data with smaller regression errors. For point regression, we choose the prediction value of Y from the range between two quantiles Q0.05 and Q0.95 instead of the conditional mean used in regression random forests. Our experiment results have shown that random forests with these extensions outperformed regression random forests and quantile regression forests in reduction of root mean square residuals.

The methanolic extract produced significant sedative effect at the doses of 200, 400 and 600 mg/kg (by oral route), compared to reference substance diazepam in hole board and thiopental -induced sleeping time methods. While the hypnotic effect was calculated at the doses of 800 and 1000 mg/kg via oral pathway significantly reduced in both the reestablishment time and number of head dips during the traction and hole-board tests. In conclusion, these results suggest that the methanolic extract of Lycopus europaeus possess potent sedative and hypnotic activities, which supported its therapeutic use for insomnia.
